Chapter 112
Selena was absolutely fuming, wondering what kind of toxic person she had ended up marrying. When she called him out on his shady behavior, he hit back with personal jabs. She swung her fists at him, feeling like today was the day one of them would meet their end!
With a smirk of disdain, Everett effortlessly caught her fist and pinned it above her head. Selena, now trapped, tried to kick him where it hurt with all her might.
But Everett saw it coming, dodged to the side, and trapped her leg, leaving her completely stuck. He couldn't resist taunting her, "Is that all you've got? Trying to tickle me or what?"
The difference in their strength only fueled Selena's anger. She wasn't about to let him walk all over her. Gritting her teeth, she sank them into his wrist, hard.
She wasn't holding back. Everett felt her teeth break his skin, and blood started to ooze out. He let go with a sharp hiss, his eyebrows knitting together tightly. "Selena, are you a dog or something? Always biting people!" There was that one time she got so mad she bit his neck, leaving a mark that took weeks to fade. The whole office had a field day, joking about how he was under her thumb, wrecking his image.
"You deserved it!" Selena shot back, her eyes welling up with tears.
She wanted to do more than just bite him. She wanted to knock some sense into him, get rid of his cheating ways, and make him pay for his lack of morals. Someone like him didn't deserve to walk this earth! Everett was about to blow his top when his phone suddenly rang. He paused, glanced at the caller ID, and immediately toned down his anger to answer it.
Noticing his change, Selena figured it must be his darling calling. Swallowing the bitterness rising in her chest, she decided to just walk away.
But before she could take two steps, Everett caught up with her. "Where do you think you're going?"
Selena, at her wits' end, snapped, "What? Should I just stand here and listen to you sweet-talk your side piece? You really think I won't lose it and take you both down?"
"Quit talking bullshit!" Everett shot her a sharp glance with his dark eyes. "That was Grandpa on the line."
Selena swallowed her words.
"He wants us to see him immediately."
Selena's anger quickly turned to concern. "So urgently? Did he say what for?"
"No, but I'm worried about his health. We've got to go now."
As Everett spoke, he quickly called Derick to arrange a private jet.
With something as serious as Josh's health on the line, they both knew personal squabbles had to be put aside for now. "Alright, I'll tell Grandma, and then we can head out." After a quick goodbye to Grace, Selena and Everett got in the car and headed for the airport. All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.
Even with the temporary truce,
Selena couldn't bring herself to be friendly with Everett. She sat as close to the window as she could, putting as much space between them as possible.
Seeing this, Everett's expression darkened even more.
The tension in the car was thick enough to cut with a knife.
In the passenger seat, Derick discreetly popped an antacid, musing on how, just yesterday, the big boss had laid out a lavish spread for his wife and grandmother-in-law, boosting their social standing. Yet here they were, back to giving each other the cold shoulder.
The silence was so heavy you could hear a pin drop until Selena's phone suddenly buzzed, breaking the suffocating quiet. She picked it up, unlocked the screen, and saw a message from Callum.
He was Josh's primary care doctor. Could something have happened to him? A jolt of fear shot through Selena as she quickly opened the message.
