Chapter 1233
Dustin froze, his eyes locked on King. King remained silent, his gaze deep and unreadable.
"Brielle, what was up with you seeing me last time?"
Brielle thought for a moment. "I don't know how long I was out, but I remember Myles, following your orders, trying to drown our child. I begged him to stop, but he said I had angered you. The child was taken to the bathroom, and then... silence. Myles said you wanted to send me away, maybe because you had a new target."
King understood. Her memory had stopped right after she was sent away.
"I didn't, Brielle. I never told Myles to do that."
King glanced at Dustin, then tightened his grip on Brielle's hand.
"Bro, I've got some misunderstandings to clear up with her. I'll take her back to the estate for now. As for the Lynch family, can you explain things to them? She doesn't recognize any of you at the moment."
King's voice quivered slightly. He realized that Brielle's memory had paused at that moment, and even knowing he was responsible for the child's fate, she still couldn't bring herself to end his life. Why?
Didn't she always say she didn't want the child? Even if she hadn't actively abandoned the child, her disinterest was clear.
Dustin remained silent. His involvement in past memories was limited. And now, with Brielle not remembering the Lynch family, staying would only cause more trouble.
He gave King a grave look. "If anything goes wrong this time, I won't let you two be together again."
King hastily pledged, "I won't. I won't leave her side."
The recent events had left everyone shaken.
Dustin looked at Brielle, intending to ruffle her hair, but she dodged, a hint of wariness in her eyes. He sighed, reluctantly left the room, and called his family, who were nearly frantic with worry.
Inside the hospital room, Brielle felt exhausted, especially after realizing she had been sent away to that island, plagued by sleepless nights and bouts of rage-induced fainting. Now, facing the source of her anger, she wished she could slap him. But with shots fired and blows exchanged, it seemed there was nothing left to do.
King simply maintained his gaze on her, and after a long while, finally asked, "Brielle, do you despise me that much?" Wondering if that was why she was desperate to get rid of the child, seeking out every possible way to abort.
Brielle remained silent. King didn't press her, instead, he lifted her in his arms.
"Let's go home."
They would talk more once home. Brielle, held in his embrace, kept her eyes closed. Even upon entering the car, he couldn't bear to let go, holding her tightly.novelbin
Upon entering the estate, she frowned, reminded of her long confinement and eventual abandonment there, her face paling. "I don't want to stay here." She had grown to despise it.
King hesitated, then looked down at her. "Alright, where would you like to stay?"
"I want to go back to Beaconsfield. My final project is due soon."
King felt a softening in his heart, gently placing her on the couch. "Okay, we'll head back to Beaconsfield."
Brielle sighed in relief, grateful for his
indulgence, But her relief was
short-lived as she spotted a child descending the stairs, bearing a
striking resemblance to King, with a
swnov
majestic leopard by his side
In that moment, Brielle felt a chill run through her veins, her eyes welling up with tears, biting back the pain. King was fetching her a drink when her slap landed across his cheek. "Who is he?!"
Her voice trembled, disbelief evident
in her gaze. King, struck by the blow, felt his cheek swell. Brielle's tears fell, realizing she was being replaced by another woman who had borne him a child. en
Feeling a blockage in her chest, she wished to vomit blood, yet nothing came out.
"Don't tell me, he isn't your child."
King touched his swollen cheek, not so much in pain as in fleeting sadness. "He's my child."
Brielle stood up, storming towards the door. "Brielle!"
He chased after her, pulling her back into his embrace. "Let me go!"
As Brielle kicked against him, he held her even tighter.
"He's my child. Are you jealous? Maybe you do care about me, right? If you remembered everything so clearly, why didn't you fire a second shot at the hospital, Brielle, could it be"
You like me.
