A good friend
Lorraine
The closer we got to our wedding day, the more my excitement heightened, and today I and my new friends would be going on the second round of shopping.
Girls would always be girls, because I could feel their ecstasy when I informed them of the shopping. Fortunately, Drake wouldn’t be the only available bodyguard as Dexter was trying to take precaution because of last time.
Instilled with fear from the previous shootout, I wore a long pink sleeved tank top with a pair of skinny jeans that hugged my curves, then matched it with white strappy low heels. I let my chestnut hair flow down my waist, enhancing my already beautiful face.Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
Victoria was living with us already and since Stella was presently living with Drake, we’d have to pick her up as well.
Finally, we were all together in Dexter’s Cadillac. The men; Drake and Dante occupied the front seats with Dante taking the position of the driver due to Drake’s injured arm.
“It’s so good to see you again, Stella.” I chirped, “I hope my favorite chauffeur has been treating you right.” I wriggled my brows and stole a glance at Drake who kept his face unreadable.
Stella tucked her hair behind her ear and lowered her lashes, her cheeks turning red.
I gasped, staring at her with disbelief. “He popped your cherry already?” I teased her and palmed her face while Victoria and I burst into bouts of laughter.
Drake hissed from the front. “It’s not funny, Lorraine. That’s our business.” He tried to sound harsh but he failed as he joined us in laughing.
Dante was the only one who didn’t laugh as his attention was fixed on the road even though I wanted him to loosen up a little. Then I realised that not every bodyguard would be as jovial as Drake.
“Anything that concerns my friend is my business as well.” I replied with a sassy tone like a spoiled brat and tsked my tongue. Then I turned to Stella who was fiddling with her fingers. “Girl, we have a lot of things to talk about later-”
Drake cut in. “Don’t even ask her anything.”
We stopped at the boutique and bought several party dresses since we had planned to have a nice time at the club. While the girls picked their dresses, I snuck to the lingerie section and selected a red beautiful lingerie set that I knew Dexter would like.
A lot of ideas came into my mind for what I could do to make our night special. I couldn’t wait to go back home and surprise him.
I stopped at a jewellery store while they were engrossed with trying new dresses, and a beautiful bracelet caught my attention. It was made with thick latex, and a gold heart shape was embedded in the middle. Not wanting someone else to get it, I quickly paid for it and they had it packaged.
After we all finished shopping, my stomach began to grumble and I was sure they were hungry as well. “Who cares for lunch?” They all raised their hands then we matched to the car.
“Where have you been?” Victoria probed.
I shrugged, tucking the lingerie deeper into my shoulder bag. “Nothing.” I denied, “I just went about my private business.” I replied with a lackadaisical tone.
Victoria and Stella glanced at each other, their eyes obviously hinting that they didn’t believe me, but they didn’t bother asking more questions which I appreciated.
I was at the verge of blushing because of the crazy scenes I’d cooked up in my head, but with the curious ladies beside me, I had to compose myself.
Dante finally stopped at a small restaurant along the road and we all climbed out, save for the men. They preferred being invisible for our own convenience.
I ordered a plate of Lasagna and grilled chicken and the rest made their orders. The server took note of what we wanted then left.
“So Stella, I’ve been meaning to ask you a particular question but Drake was together with us, and I knew it would sound weird so I’m asking now.” My lips curved in a teasing smile.
“I’m listening.” She said flatly, but I could sense the strong urge to laugh.
I couldn’t allow her to keep a straight face in front of us, so I went ahead. “How well does Drake treat you at night?”
She shrugged. “I can’t say because he hasn’t made a move yet, but I can feel the sexual tension. Every time he looks at me, he feels like he wants to eat me up, but he’s just too reluctant to do anything.” She complained, her face drowning with disappointment. “And you want to know the truth?” I nodded. “I want him.”
A whistling sound burst out from my lips. Now I knew what to do about them, they’d be tripping hard for each other soon.
“That’s good.” I replied less enthusiastically so she wouldn’t know what I was up to.
“Don’t use that tone on me, I’m still your boss.” She tried to sound harsh but it didn’t work.
I chuckled. “Of course, I remember, but that title doesn’t work here because you both will be my bridesmaid.” I pointed at Victoria whose phone had all her attention.
Our meal finally came and I didn’t hesitate to gobble it down. I enjoyed how spicy the Lasagna was, and how tender and properly marinated the chicken tasted while I masticated on it.
Maybe I’d be opportuned to meet with the chef who prepared the meal and compliment him on the wonderful meal he curated.
As I finished the remnant of my lasagna, my eyes landed on a familiar acquaintance, walking out of the restaurant in a gray suit, looking clean and well polished like the last time.
I jutted up from my seat, slung my shoulder bag on and traipsed towards him. He left through the see-through glass door and since he had long legs, I had to walk faster to ensure he didn’t get into the car before I got to him.
“Mr Rogers!”
He halted on his steps and spun around with a slightly annoyed expression which left his face immediately he recognized who I was.
A smile quickly brightened up his handsome face as he motioned his driver to shut the door. “You? I’ve been searching all over the place for you since that day. I even came back to the cafe where we met and they all told me that they haven’t been seeing you regularly.”
My heart melted as he admitted that he made an effort to search for me, while a pang of guilt settled in the pit of my stomach because I didn’t even remember to do the same for him, even though we had connected on a friendly level.
“I’m so sorry, Mr Rogers. A lot of things happened that made me unavailable, but I’m so happy to see you right now.”
He approached me and without saying anything else, I gave him a quick hug. “It’s fine, dear.” He passed a cursory glance at the restaurant then stopped at me. “Are you here alone?”
“No, I’m with my friends.” Then an idea came to my mind, one that I was excited about.
“That’s great, I’d have loved us to continue our conversation from that day.” He suggested a bit carefully.
I wanted the same thing as well, but today wasn’t the right time for it and I’d be busy until the wedding was over. “I wanted the same thing as well but I have something very important to tell you.”
His eyes widened in curiosity. “Tell me, I’m listening.”
“I’ll be getting married soon-mind you, I’m married already, but my husband and I feel that we need to have a wedding celebration since we weren’t able to do it due to some unforeseen circumstances. So I’m using this medium to invite you if you will be available…” My voice came out a bit nervous because I wasn’t expecting a positive response.
“Sure, I’ll be there.” He said and my heart leaped for joy.
