Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 165

Chapter 165 She Was Just an Outsider

Clarissa remained in the courtyard, setting off all the fireworks She refused to return to the living room

“Why isn’t she coming in?” Damien had taken off his coat and changed into loungewear.

“Since Madam likes setting off the fireworks, let’s leave her be,” Mrs. Faber said,

He looked at Clarissa’s figure as she squatted down in the courtyard. Rather than enjoying herself, she

probably just doesn’t want me to pick on her.’

What did she have to fear if she hadn’t done anything wrong?

Clarissa didn’t sit next to Damien as they ate dinner.

He sat at one end of the table, and she sat at the other. This was representative of their roles as the

patriarch and matriarch of the family, but it also meant that they were the furthest apart,

“Cheers to our first year.” Damien’s gaze swept past everyone present, except for Clarissa,

She didn’t know what he meant by this being their first year, but she still took a big gulp of red wine.

Her face gradually turned red.

“Clary, come here.” After dinner, Theresa called Clarissa to her room.

Her room was on the first floor. After dinner, Mrs. Cole had gone back to her home to spend time with

her family. Only the maids that worked for the Lawrence family were still around.

Grandpa Lawrence had also retired to his room.

“What’s up?” Clarissa shut the door.

Theresa pulled out a set of red clothes from her suitcase.

“You’re twenty-four this year, and I bought you something to celebrate. Try it on and see whether it

looks good on you,” she said cheerily.

“I’m already twenty-four years old,” Clarissa muttered as she changed.

“Yeah. Damien’s thirty-two this year, isn’t he? I remember that he was twenty-five back then.”

Clarissa paused. “Oh Yeah, I guess so.”

“You don’t know how old he is?” Theresa asked.

Clarissa calmed herself down. “People in this day and age don’t pay attention to how old they are.

Forget him, I constantly forget how old I am.”

“Oh, you Damien’s already at this age. Aren’t you two considering…” NôvelDrama.Org content rights.

Clarissa knew what her mother was about to say, so she quickly cut her mother off. “Mom, I need to

become a certified public accountant. We‘ve already gone over this. We’ll revisit the topic after I’m

done with my certification”

“I still think”

“Mom, how do I look?” Clarissa quickly changed the topic.

“Very pretty. You look good in everything, Clary”

Clarissa looked at herself in the mirror. Theresa had got her red loungewear, which she could also wear

out of the house. However, Clarissa found it weird to leave the house dressed completely in red.

After leaving her mother’s room, Clarissa didn’t see Damien in the living room. He had probably gone

upstairs.

She squatted down and played with the cat. The TV was on, and people were setting off fireworks

outside. Though she was alone in the living room, she didn’t feel scared.

“You’re here? I’ll open the door for you.” Damien came downstairs with his phone to his ear.

He grabbed the remote for the gate and opened it.

“Who’s here?” Clarissa looked up and asked.

Before he could answer, an excited voice rang out. “Damien, happy holidays! And happy holidays to

Grandpa, too.”

Madelynn’s voice immediately put Clarissa in a bad mood.

She seemed to have just seen Clarissa squatting there. After that, she sat down on the sofa next to

Damien

He grabbed the remote to change the channel.

“Oh, right, Damien, my new show’s on air. Can you switch to that channel?” Madelynn said with a

smile.

Out of the corner of his eye, Damien saw that Clarissa was focused on playing with the cat. She didn’t

seem to be bothered by anything that was happening.

“Oh, really?” He switched channels.

Unconsciously, he leaned toward Madelynn.

“This is the one.” Madelynn pointed at the screen. “The one that was filmed at Columbia Hospital,

where we ran into Clarissa.”

Damien didn’t say anything.

He couldn’t help thinking of Clarissa and Joseph’s joined hands at the mention of this.

“Damien, there’s something I want to tell you.” Madelynn leaned in close to him.

“What is it?”

She glanced at Clarissa, signaling that it wasn’t convenient for her to speak with Clarissa around.

“Clarissa, you head on upstairs first,” Damien said to Clarissa.

At the mention of her name, Clarissa looked up. She saw Damien and Madelynn staring at her.

As if she was an outsider.

“Okay.” She turned and went upstairs without a second glance.

She was disturbing the couple from chatting.

How could she have been obtuse enough to stay downstairs?

She had always been an outsider, anyway.

Damien’s eyes remained trained on her. She was dressed in red from head to toe, and from behind, he

could see her curvy figure. It made his heart itch.

Clarissa disappeared from sight after turning the corner, and he retracted his gaze.

“Damien, there’s something that I’ve lied to you about…” Madelynn began. She was an actress, after

all. Her tears welled up immediately.

“What is it?” Damien asked.
