Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 145

Chapter 145 Do You Even Love Your Husband

It was almost time for Theresa to get discharged from the hospital.

Over the past few days, Clarissa would clean her house after she got off work.

After Luke moved his things out of the house, the entire property looked very spacious.

Clarissa even tidied up her own room. As a result, everything looked squeaky clean. She fitted bed

sheets with floral prints on the bed.

The small bedroom was illuminated by a soft light. It made Clarissa recall her past days of living here.

About twenty days later, Theresa was finally discharged from the hospital.

Clarissa hired a caretaker named Mrs. Cole for her mother.

“Mom got discharged from the hospital, so I’d like to stay with her for a couple of days. Is Grandpa

doing okay?” That day, Clarissa stood in the bedroom and applied for personal leave from Damien

“How long will that be?” Damien asked while studying her.

“I don’t know. I want to make sure Mom can get used to her new life. Besides, I still need to keep an

eye on the new caretaker.”

“Okay. Call me if anything happens.” Clarissa grunted in reply. She picked up her backpack and

grabbed her luggage before heading out of the room.

“Clarissa,“ Damien suddenly called out from behind.

“Yeah?” She turned around to look at him.

Damien approached her before pinning her against the wall and pressing his lips on top of hers.

It was rare for them to kiss while standing. His gesture made Clarissa’s cheeks go up in flames.

“I-I’ll be leaving now,” she said bashfully.

“Okay.”

Damien didn’t even bother sending her off. He knew that they were bound to be separated one day, so

they might as well say their goodbyes here.

After Clarissa said her goodbyes to Grandpa Lawrence downstairs, she left the mansion.

The mansion went awfully quiet after that.

When Clarissa returned to live at her old house, she felt as if she had traveled six years back in time.

Theresa’s legs were still weak, so she needed to use the wheelchair for a period of time. Sometimes,

Clarissa would lean against her mother’s legs like a little girl, while Theresa would

stroke her hair lovingly as they chatted.

“Mom,” Clarissa said

“Yeah?”

It wasn’t as if Clarissa wanted to ask her mother anything. She just wanted to hear Theresa responding

to her.

Whenever Theresa replied to her, tears would always flow down Clarissa’s cheeks.

“Now that you’re staying here, will Damien miss you?” Theresa asked.

“I don’t know.” It had been more than a week since Clarissa last saw Damien,

After all, they shared a boss-employee relationship at the company. It was very common to not bump

into each other at work.

Even after work, they rarely kept in contact through Whatsapp. That is, unless there was something

urgent going on.

Ever since Clarissa joined the audit department, she had left the company’s group chat and stopped

attending the training course. Her ultimate goal was to become a professional accountant. She had no

desire to become a manager.

“How did you and Damien get to know each other?” Theresa asked curiously.

“Well, the New East Corporation is the biggest company in Genovia, after all. I got to know him during

my interview there. Mom, please don’t tell him about Dad donating the corneas to him.” Clarissa

couldn’t help but remind Theresa about this again. She didn’t know why she decided to not tell him the

truth. Perhaps it was because she assumed telling the truth was equivalent to holding him hostage,

denying him the opportunity to divorce her in the future.

Gratitude was one thing. Love was another. Clarissa knew the difference perfectly well.

She had no idea how to face Damien in the future if he were to find out.

Theresa felt slightly guilty on the inside. She nodded after a split second. “Then, how did you fall in love

with each other? I think a person of his caliber should be going for…”

When Clarissa heard Theresa’s question, she knew that the latter was starting to suspect her marriage.

After all, many women were willing to sell their bodies to rich men for the sake of money.

“Mom! You should know that I’m quite the looker, right? We got into a relationship during orientation

week, and we just got married. Besides, he’s… a pretty nice guy.” Clarissa decided to skim over the

details.

“Okay.”

After Clarissa took out the trash later that evening, she was about to head upstairs when she noticed a

car parked downstairs. It was Damien’s Maybach.

Clarissa lingered there for half a second before turning on her heel and entering a nearby pharmacy

She had to be prepared for all sorts of situations.

Once Clarissa returned home, she noticed Damien sitting next to Theresa. Both of them looked very

peaceful and happy together,

“Damien’s here to see you,” Theresa said.

“Oh. After so many days, you finally decide to show up,” Clarissa mumbled. She did it so that Theresa Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.

could see for herself just how lovey–dovey the couple was.

“Do you even love me? Why didn’t you ask me to come here on Whatsapp?” Damien remained seated

on the couch. He gazed at Clarissa with hazy eyes, a swirl of emotions present in his orbs.

“Ah. How are you doing these days?” Clarissa put on a show of being concerned about Damien

“I went on a business trip.”

Clarissa couldn’t help but giggle when she noticed Damien cooperating with her to keep up their lovey-

dovey appearance. “Oh? You went on a trip?”

“No. Looks like you have no idea what my schedule is. You’re pretty absent-minded, you know that?”

Damien sounded dissatisfied with Clarissa.

“I was busy! Besides, not receiving any news from you is better than receiving bad news involving you.”

Clarissa defended herself.

During this period of time, she would hurry to work after dealing with Theresa’s affairs in the morning.

After she got off work, she’d rush home to clean the entire house. She had never heard any news that

involved Damien.

The last time Damien came to this house, it was filthy and gross. Huge amounts of clutter took up all

the space, making it resemble more like a warehouse. This time, it looked very neat and tidy. It was

obvious that Clarissa had put in a lot of effort to straighten out the place.

The house was pretty small. In fact, it was a lot smaller than Hill Villa. Damien could even hear the

echoes of the conversation.

Clarissa felt her conversation with Damien to be very cozy and casual.

Theresa instantly realized that she was third-wheeling the couple’s rare moment. She smiled and said,

“Have fun talking, you two. I’m going to head to bed now.”

Mrs. Cole pushed Theresa into her bedroom after that.

Only Damien and Clarissa remained in the living room. They fell into silence the moment Theresa left.

Clarissa went to wash her face. After that, she spent some time looking at her dark rings in the mirror.

They didn’t look that dark anymore, so her condition was improving.

Makeup was the secondary solution to getting rid of the dark rings. The most effective solution for

Clarissa, however, was to avoid sleeping with Damien.
