Chapter 75
Wilbur smiled lightly, and a small flame ignited at the tip of his finger
He pointed that finger at the lady’s forehead, and the flame seemed to pass through the skin and enter the lady’s mind before disappearing altogether.
All at once, the lady felt a new sort of energy in her body.
The energy seemed to radiate with terrifying power, the kind that could explode at any second and destroy her.
The lady cried out, “Spirit energy? You’re a spirit cultivator?”
As a cultivator, she knew how terrifying spirit cultivators were. They were powerful enough to control the energy of heaven and earth, and aura cultivators were nothing compared to them.
It was then that realization dawned upon the lady.
Wilbur was only using the tiniest fraction of his energy and had not used his real skills at all.
Just then, Wilbur smiled. “Well, now you know. To be honest, I’m hiring you to kill the guy just so he’ll reap exactly what he sowed. I wouldn’t need you otherwise.”
Wilbur turned to leave after that, not even picking up his fishing tools.
A moment later, the lady returned to her senses.
She had been facing up against someone so terrifying and had been foolish enough to try and kill him. What was she thinking?
“What the f*ck kind of assignment was this? I can’t kill someone like that!”
The lady cursed herself for a while, before letting out a sigh. “I guess there’s no other way out of this.”
She mounted her motorcycle silently, riding off into the night
Wilbur went home to see Faye already back and had prepared dinner.
“Let’s have dinner.” Faye smiled at the sight of Wilbur and greeted him.
Wilbur nodded, and the both of them began to eat at the table.
Faye said, “I saw the transfer documents on the table. Sealake Island is now yours.”
“Yep,” Wilbur replied simply.
Faye said, “You know, that’s a pretty big asset. Would you like to celebrate?”
Noting the playful expression on her face, Wilbur nodded.
Faye took out a bottle of red wine that was somehow already uncorked, pouring the both of them a glass.
“You’re prepared for this,” Wilbur chuckled.
Faye shrugged. “What’s wrong? Shouldn’t we celebrate?”
“Yes, we should Come on. Cheers.”
Wilbur raised his glass, and the two of thern took a sip.
After that, Wilbur told Faye about his trip to Willow Corp earlier, as well as what he had discussed with Chelsea.
Faye smiled. “She definitely made the smarter choice. It’s a win–win. Chelsea knows a thing or two.” Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
“She sure does. You should reach out to her as soon as possible and get it done,” Wilbur said.
Faye nudied. “Got it, Boss”
The two of thein continued chatting after that, and the bottle of wine was quickly finished.
Wilbur volunteered to do the dishes. After he was done, he blurted out a ranilam excuse and escaped to his roor
Faye watched as Wilbur disappeared from her sight. She let out a long sigh, returning to her room.
Later that night, in a hotel room
Blake was downing glass after glass of whiskey.
His eyes were bloodshot, and his clothes were a mess. He had a wild and feral beast–lile gaze.
He spent ten million dollars bailing himself out of prison, and his case was not even over yet.
The thought of having lost so much money just like that made him livid with rage.
He had to admit that what he did to Wilbur had crossed the line.
