Chapter 57
Chapter 57
"I... I can't tell you," Scarlet stammered.
"Is it about Lenny?" Yasmin asked.
"Yes."
"Does it have anything to do with the time that you went abroad?"
It seemed that Scarlet had changed since she went abroad last time to catch Lenny cheating on her.
"Yes."
"What did you see that night? Or did Lenny do something to you?"
Yasmin's brain worked in overdrive to piece everything together.
"Stop asking, Yasmin."
If Yasmin kept asking, she would find out about everything.
With a serious look on her face, Yasmin ran her gaze over Scarlet.
Scarlet didn't live in the school dormitories. Yasmin wanted to move in with her, but Scarlet refused.
Every time Scarlet ate, she retched either during the meal or afterward. She had always said that it was
just a simple stomachache.
Winter was coming. She wore more layers than before, and most of her clothes were loose.
"Just tell me, Scarlet. Please. If you don't, then I'll go ask Lenny personally about what happened when
you went abroad on your birthday."
Yasmin was burning with anxiety.
Unable to deal with Yasmin, Scarlet had to tell her the truth.
Upon hearing her best friend's confession, Yasmin was shocked.
Scarlet was pregnant. And Lenny was the baby's father.
"I want to give birth to this baby, Yasmin."
"While you're living with Lenny?" Yasmin frowned, thinking that Scarlet's plan was a rather difficult one.
"But I have no choice. If he finds out that I'm pregnant, he will definitely force me to get an abortion. I
can't take that risk, Yasmin. If you're not going to help me, then please don't push me. When my mother
passed away, I was left with no other family. This child is my chance at a new family. I want this baby to
stay with me."
"Then what am I to you?" Yasmin said crossly. "You're being naive, Scarlet. Don't you know the kind of
person Lenny is? Once he senses that something is different, he will definitely investigate and
eventually find out about your pregnancy. You know what, I'll take care of it."
"You?"
Scarlet was stunned.
The hospital had Scarlet's medical records, which were under her real name. Lenny would be able to
find out about them easily if he investigated.
Yasmin contacted her friend who was a hacker and had all of Scarlet's digital medical records erased.
Then, she asked someone else to go after the physical files and had them destroyed.
She also made an appointment with an obstetrician abroad to make sure that Scarlet could give birth
safely on her due date.
"My friend works in a private hospital. He can write fake medical records for you. When you give birth
abroad, you will be able to have a good excuse."
Yasmin had taken care of everything in one night.
Shocked and overjoyed, Scarlet hugged her best friend tightly.
"Oh, thank you so much, Yasmin. You're my savior. As long as I conceal my pregnancy well, Lenny
won't notice it."
"I hope so. If you want to protect this child, then I will help you." Yasmin spoke her words firmly. "But I
have to ask, Scarlet. Are you sure you don't want to tell Lenny? It's not a small matter to raise a child
alone."
"How can I tell him? A man can only be responsible for one woman. Rosaline is also pregnant with his
child. He has chosen her, and I refuse to embarrass myself."
"You two got pregnant in the same week? That's a neat coincidence."
"I agree. But Lenny is already dead set on marrying Rosaline. I should just get out of the way."
Scarlet lowered her head and decided not to think too much.
Looking at her best friend's depressed face, Yasmin stroked Scarlet's hair.
"Don't be afraid. I'm here with you."
"You truly are the best, Yasmin," Scarlet said happily.

"I was afraid that you would stop me from giving birth to this baby. You are always rational, so..."
"Well, I do think that you're better off getting an abortion."
As soon as Yasmin finished speaking, Scarlet covered her belly with her hands and looked at Yasmin
vigilantly. Her budding maternal instincts caused her to react quickly.
Shaking her head helplessly, Yasmin continued, "But I also think that if you get rid of that child, you will
sorely regret it and be unhappy for the rest of your life.
As your best friend, I don't want that. So if you really want this child, then I will support you. I mean,
that's what I'm here for, isn't it? Best friends don't let best friends fight their battles alone."
