Chapter 833 We’re Here to Visit Mr. Alfred
"Chloe, answer me." Joseph stared at her as he ignored Noah.
She murmured, "Vanya... Why should I see her..."
"She may know where our child is."
"But the child is dead."
"No, you’re the one who said the child isn’t dead. We can’t come to a conclusion before everything is sorted out. You told me that."
Chloe wanted to refute this and claimed that she had never said such a thing. Suddenly, something flashed through her mind. She tried to grab ahold of this thought, but when she tried, her head hurt. Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.
Joseph noticed her pain. He asked concernedly, "What's wrong? Are you hurt?"
"My head… It hurts..." Chloe held her head with both hands. Her voice was shaky and her face paled.
Before Joseph could do anything else, Noah quickly pressed the car window button. "Mr. Joseph, stop being a busybody. Coco’s head hurts because you’re forcing her. Please let go and stop disturbing us if you want her to be happy."
Joseph's eyes turned dark as he clenched his fists tightly. 'Is it really because of me?'
Noah steeled his jaw and pressed forward though Vince was blocking them. Thankfully, Vince reacted quickly and barely got out of the way. He was briefly stunned. When the car was no longer in sight, he shouted, "Fuck! Why did he drive so fast?!"
He went to Joseph’s side. "Sir, what should we do now? Should we pursue them?"
"No, it's fine. It's good to know that Chloe’s safe. You and the others can head back and get some sleep."
Vince looked at the deep circles under Joseph's eyes and the stubble on his face. He said hesitantly, "Sir, you should go home and get some sleep too."
Joseph’s spirits did not seem any better than theirs.
"Leave me be."
"I'll stay with you," Vince said in a firm and loyal tone.
"I’ll stay too." Lucas walked toward them. He spoke carefully, afraid that Joseph would get mad. "Everything at the office is going smoothly, so I came here."
Joseph looked at them quietly before turning and walking back into the research institute.
Stella was walking through the corridor with a stack of books in her arms. She became nervous when she spotted Joseph. She pointed at them and stammered, "I-I'm warning you. D-Don't make a scene here. Otherwise, I'm going to call the police."
At first glance, the two people behind Joseph looked like trouble.
"We're here to visit Mr. Alfred." Lucas put on a friendly but prudent demeanor. He knew how to control this kind of situation.
"He won't see you if you don't have an appointment."
"Please make some leeway. Mr. Joseph will leave after saying a few words. We won't waste too much of his time."
"No, and stop trying to force us. I loathe businessmen like you. Don't assume that you can do whatever you want just because you're rich."
Stella felt that Noah was far more polite.
Seeing Joseph frowned, Lucas knew what to do. He smiled and said, "Miss, since you’ve said so, we'll use money to get what we want." He then called the dean of the research institute in Joseph's name.
In less than ten minutes, the dean arrived and scolded Stella. Her face flushed out of anger, but she did not dare to say anything else and obediently led Joseph to Alfred's office.
