Chapter 33
Angel Leffman
I went home after my call with Harry and started to read the policy of Andrew and Leffman, just in case Gerard Andrew decided to ruin me. After an hour, Harry finally came. "What is so urgent that I need to stop everything even if it's Sunday?" he greeted in sarcasm.
"Andrew knows that I am the owner of Autos-Let," I told him without beating around the bush. "Andrew, your father-in-law?"
"Yes, Sofia told me earlier, so I am reading this," I replied, showing him the papers.
"Wait, Sofia came home?"
"No, in her apartment."
"Are you telling me that you spent the night with Sofia?"
"Stop talking nonsense."
"I just don't understand how you can resist yourself around a woman like Sofia. If I were you, she wouldn't be able to leave our room for a week after our marriage." Is he serious?
A frown automatically appears on my face. "Do you like my wife?"
Just thinking about it makes me angry.Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
"If you can only see your face right now, you look like you're ready to kill me, man," Harry said with a laugh before he stopped when he saw my serious face. "Alright. Explain what happened now." "What do you want to know?"
"You are the one who asked Sofia for a divorce and left the company to her, and you also asked her to leave the house. She listened to you, and now you're starting to pay attention to her. You get jealous, you worry about her, and now you spent the night with him?" "I spent the night because it's late. Enough of that. Let's talk about the Andrews and the company. According to Sofia, he's worried about what I'll do to the company because of a conflict of interest."
"Where is Elisa in all of this? And be honest with me. Do you still love Sofia and you hate the fact that she's free and another man can take her?" He asked, and I hate that he knows me. "So you sent me to investigate Elisa because you need a reason to not hate her." "Sofia told me that she didn't sleep with Kevin, and it was just a rumor."
"I always thought it wasn't."
"Wait, you knew and you didn't tell me?"
"I heard about it, but... you didn't want to know anything about her because of what happened to Elisa."
"Sofia insisted that she didn't do what Elisa told me."
""And do you believe her?"
"I don't know. I want to believe her, Harry, but I can't take the possibility that she's lying out of my head, so I want you to do everything you can."
"And I'm doing just that. Now, what will you do to your father-in-law?" He asks as he taps the table with his fingers.
"I don't want him to find a way to touch Autos-Let or kick me out of his company."
"What are you afraid of, and how did he even know?"
I sighed in frustration. "I don't know. Sofia told me she didn't tell him anything, but I just can't believe her."
"And how did Sofia know?"
"I have no idea as well. I just want to cover my back, so I'm reading these."
"No one's stopping you from being the owner of Andrew and Leffman, and you didn't break any violations or contract when you built your own company, because there is no such clause in the contract. The problem here is plagiarism, and in this case, I'm sure you won't do it." "I am just not comfortable that the bastard knows I own Autos-Let. He knows my secret, and that gives him power over me."
"Angel, I'm going to tell you something you wouldn't like, but the only way is for you to personally talk to him."
"And I will do that. It's better if we sort this out so I can see where I stand or know what the future holds."
Harry then chuckled. "Isn't it ironic that you've been hiding this secret and yet Sofia and Gerard already know?"
"And pops as well. I want to know how they found out."
"You forgot that your father-in-law and pops are both a legend in this world. In many years in business, it's only natural for them to know people or have connections. Who knows? Those two are old foxes already, and you and Sofia are still newbies. You are both talented and skilled, but nothing compared to their experiences."
"Maybe you're right, but we still need to be careful, just in case we have a rat in the company."
"I don't think so because everyone signed the contract of confidentiality, and only a number of people know you're the owner. And Angel, I'm sure they're afraid of you because of your reputation."
I ran my hands through my face. "I won't be calm because the Andrews know about my company. They can use that against me."
"What's the worst he can do to you? Kick you out of the company? He can't do that because when you married Sofia, you signed a contract where you two have equal rights. Therefore, unless you gave them your share, or his to you, and either party plagiarizes, there is no need to be concerned."
"Okay, let's do this; let's create a contract of confidentiality where Sofia and I agree to not tell anyone I'm the owner of Autos-Let, and she's the owner of Lee Andrew's."
Harry looked at me in confusion. "Sofia owns that fashion company? The fast-growing company?"
"Yes, Harry. She owns that, and she designs everything on her own. She's that smart and talented, right?"
"If only you could see the admiration you have on your face right now. I told you she's not one to just sit around and do nothing. She not only owns one of the most prestigious automotive companies in the country, but now she also designs and owns an international brand. Whew. What a woman!" Harry commented with a whistle.
"Yes, that's what she is. I don't even know how she's able to handle both companies."
"I insinuate that she is too much for you or anyone. No one is more dangerous than an almost perfect woman."
"And she's my wife, and I am not thinking of changing that anytime soon."
"Really now? When you just asked for a divorce when your ex came back?" Harry said with a laugh.
"Harry, I need evidence to prove that Elisa lied to me or anything. Something tells me that Sofia has nothing to do with everything she claims."
"And how will you face your father and her parents when you tell them you'll marry her one day?"
"I will resolve that later. One thing after another, I need to know that she did not kill my child."
"And what if it's proven that Sofia is innocent and Elisa lied? Either with being pregnant or that you're the father of her child? What will you do?"
My face darkened just thinking about it. "Then she will meet a version of me she hasn't seen before."
"With that look on your face, I believe you. What will you do to Sofia? Because even if you have some sort of connection now, that won't change how you treated her for the last five years."
"Because I am filled with doubts! At one point, I thought that maybe she really didn't do those things and she was a victim and I was a fool. That she shouldn't forgive me and I don't deserve her, and then she will do something that will make me doubt everything again. And it's making me feel insane!"
Harry sighed and gripped my shoulder. "Angel, all I know is that if you decide to believe or trust Sofia, then you shouldn't doubt everything she tells you. And if you choose to continue believing Elisa, then it's better for you to leave her alone. If that happens, the divorce is what's best for everyone."
I removed his hand from me and stood up. "No! There will be no divorce, and don't remind me of that paper. You're right, I need to decide whether I should believe Sofia and trust her. I realized that this morning, so find out everything about Elisa for me." "Elisa is clever. She knows how to use the kid to continue manipulating you. She knows it's your weakness."
"First, I'll talk to Gerard about the company and everything else. And then, I'll talk to my parents and sisters about their behavior. Last is Elisa, and when I'm done with them, I'll sit down and have that talk with Sofia, and we're going to find out what we need to do." "Sounds like a fair decision for me. You forgot one thing, Angel, a scum named Alexis. According to my source, he's pressuring Sofia, although it's unclear with what, but I heard he's confident that Sofia will give in." Just hearing that bastard's name infuriates me.
"Give in to what? What is he threatening her with? Something tells me it's related to our companies."
"Lee Andrew's specifically, I think. If he needs that contract from France to prevent his downfall, and Sofia's the owner of the company they want, then he must be preventing that from happening." "Maybe, but I'm bothered that he's contacting Sofia."
"I am thinking of a simple way to know his threat. What if you ask her instead?"
"When I asked her what she did in the hospital, she told me that it wasn't my business; now I wonder what he has."
"Because when you asked her, you weren't as connected as you are now. Try asking again, but in a nicer way, like a worried husband would. Is it hard for you to do things like that?"
"With Sofia, it'll cost me everything: being kind, irritating, peaceful, cruel, and cold. Everything about that woman makes me desperate. Stop laughing, a*****e." I snapped at him when he started laughing.
"I'm just merely giving you an idea. Now I will go on with my activities and I'll see you tomorrow. It's Sunday; therefore, there is no work even if your pay is great. Goodbye." He saluted and started to walk backward. "What a nice friend you are."
"Don't cry now. By the way, talk about Sofia about that contract you mentioned, and remember, don't ruin the small step you took."
He left my office, and I started to sort out my ideas because it was time to make decisions.
