Chapter 1086: Nightmare
Aurora gazed at Yanis, struggling to find her words several times. Eventually, she just smiled at Yanis
and didn't say much more. Yanis had caught snippets of the conversation between Maya and Aurora
earlier, but she hesitated to ask Aurora about it directly.
As they walked to the car and settled inside, Aurora turned to Yanis, "Sis-in-law, did you have
something to ask earlier?"
Yanis glanced at Aurora's face and hesitated before finally speaking, "Was the person your mom
mentioned earlier your dad?"
Aurora nodded, "You heard it all?"
Yanis murmured in agreement, then started the car. As they left the courtyard, Yanis continued, "Does
your brother know about your dad's plans to come out?"
Aurora shook her head, "I don't know."
Yanis fell silent for a few seconds, considering whether to say something. However, she recalled Zane's
attitude earlier and decided to remain silent.
After dropping Aurora off at her place, Yanis drove back to D-king Castle.
Upon arriving home, Zane hadn't returned yet.
Checking the time, Yanis headed upstairs, took a shower, changed her clothes, and decided to rest for
a while.
When she woke up, it was already dark outside.
The room was dimly lit, and Yanis frowned. She reached for her phone on the side table.
There were two missed calls and several unread messages, all from the same person.
Yanis read the messages and dialed the number.
Zane answered quickly on the other end, "Yanis."
"I had just fallen asleep," Yanis explained as she sat up, rubbing her forehead.
"I know. I called the house," Zane's voice sounded tired, quite noticeably.
Yanis looked out of the window, "Haven't you finished your work yet? When do you think you'll be
back?"
"It's uncertain. We've run into issues with a project, and several departments are working overtime. If
things go smoothly, I might be back before ten," Zane replied.
Yanis checked the time and saw that there were still three or four hours until ten o'clock.
"Well, remember to eat on time," Yanis advised.
"Okay. You should go down and have something to eat too. Aunt Alice should have prepared it
already."
Yanis was indeed a bit hungry, "I know. I'll go grab something to eat."
After exchanging a few more words, they hung up.
Yanis placed the phone down and turned to go to the bathroom before heading downstairs.
Aunt Gloria greeted her, "Mrs. Lawrence, you're awake."
Yanis responded, "Why are you the only one here? Where's Aunt Alice?"
"Alice said she was going to buy something and went out."
Yanis nodded.
"I'll warm up your meal for you. Mr. Lawrence called and said you should rest a little longer, so we didn't
want to disturb you."
Yanis followed Aunt Gloria into the kitchen, where the meal was heated.
During this period, Zane had arranged a nutritional menu, and Aunt Alice and Aunt Gloria had been
preparing Yanis's meals according to the menu. They tried to make each dish look appealing.
In fact, Yanis didn't have a big appetite. She was satisfied with just a few bites when she was hungry.
As long as she felt full, anything would do.
Even the dishes she used to avoid or not eat much of were now consumed without much thought.
Tonight, Yanis ate less than before, but she drank an extra bowl of soup.
After finishing the meal, Yanis moved to the living room, turned on the TV, and lay on the couch to
watch.
After a while, she fell asleep again.
In her dream, she relived the time when Lucia had sent her to the Viteto mountains.
There was heavy snow falling all around, and she had lost her shoes, with someone relentlessly
chasing her from behind.
She ran desperately, but she couldn't outpace those who were getting closer step by step.
Their faces were fierce, as if they wanted to tear her apart and devour her.
She ran until her feet ached, her heart pounding. She begged them to spare her, to spare her child.
But no matter how she pleaded, they reached out towards her, tore her clothes, and pressed her to the
ground...
She cried for help, begged, and eventually screamed until her voice went hoarse, but it didn't stop
them.
The pain from her abdomen sent shockwaves through her body, making her heart pound even harder.
She begged them to stop, but they ignored her, their excitement growing.
Suddenly, she woke up, drenched in sweat.
Gasping for breath, her mind even seemed to go blank for a moment.
Her trembling hand reached for her phone as it began to ring.
The ringing brought Yanis back from her scattered thoughts.
She picked up the phone, saw the caller ID, and took a deep breath before answering, "Sandy."
Sandy's voice came through the phone, "Yanis, what's wrong with your voice? You sound a bit hoarse. NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.
Are you coming down with a cold?"
Yanis hadn't noticed her own hoarse voice until Sandy mentioned it. "No, I'm fine. I just dozed off for a
bit and woke up. Maybe that's why. I'll drink some water."
Sandy's voice was concerned, "Okay, you take care. By the way, why aren't you asleep at this hour?"
Sandy sighed, "Brandon said they're doing a wedding photoshoot these days, so he's helping her pick
out dresses."
"Isn't that rushed?"
Sandy's voice grew lower, "My sister thought the same. She wants to get everything done while she's
still showing, so that Aurora's delivery will be peaceful."
"That's a good plan. If you can manage it, get everything done before you start showing," Yanis
suggested.
Sandy agreed, "I forgave Mr. Hawkins generously for what happened."
