Chapter 30
Scarlet:
After the meeting, my guard made sure I found my way up to Lucian's home. He hadn't said anything to me and, in all honesty, I was too irritated about having a babysitter to make conversation.
When I got to the room that I was residing in for the time being, I flopped down onto the bed. I started crying uncontrollably. My whole existence has been a lie. My whole identity isn't my own and I still don't know who my real parents are.
What my real identity is "Scarlet", I heard a whisper in the room and recognized the voice immediately. I sat up with a teary face to search the room. When my eyes landed on the open door revealing Lucian, I wiped away my tears, trying to appear strong and cold.
"Scarlet. Are you OK?"
Those words slipping from his mouth made me crack.
"Yeah" I sobbed.
I was fully aware that now I didn't seem OK because I was sobbing, but I couldn't help myself.
Suddenly, his arms wrapped around my waist, he pulled me into his chest so tightly as if he was trying to squeeze out every bit of sadness that laid on my heart. I sobbed even louder into his chest, soaking his shirt.
Without words needing to be said, I could feel him telling me "I'm here for you". I sobbed in his arms for what seemed like forever.
When my tears dried up I still wailed. Until I passed out. In a light sleep I could feel him move me under the sheets and lay right next to me.
He once again pulled me into his chest and I could smell his scent better than ever. His heart beat against my cheek and his sigh was filled with sadness and defeat.
"Scarlet" the woman's voice called out from the other side of the lake. When I tried to see the end of the lake and spot her, I couldn't. I then looked down at the water that was engulfing my feet and I saw a stepping stone. When I stepped on one step, another appeared. I made my way halfway across the lake before a step was much further away. I tried to jump but missed it by just a few inches. I fell deep into the water, sinking slowly to the bottom.
I tried swimming back to the surface but was unable to move. The woman appeared in front of me again, floating just above me on my sink to the bottom. My breath became hard to hold. And my chest started to burn. "When you have crossed the path on this lake you will be ready to know the full truth." I tried to reach out to her but her figure turned into a shadow-wolf with starry eyes.
The wolf dived into me, causing me to sink deeper. "Ahhhh" I sat up in bed screaming. My hair stuck to my skin and was filled with sweat. Lucian grabbed onto my shoulder, searching my body for any injuries. "You ok?" He asked, worry lining his eyes. I was breathing heavily and was trying to concentrate on slowing my breath, so I just nodded.
"Bad dream?" He asked, but I shook my head in protest. Question marks formed over his face and he tilted his head to the side like a puppy trying to read me better.
"No, there's this...woman that has all the answers that I'm seeking."
"About your parents?" He asked. I knew that the body guard would report it to him but I was unaware it would've been that
soon.
"Yes," I said in defeat.
"How do you know this person will be able to answer you and isn't just you know a dream"
"I'm not crazy Lucian"
"I'm not saying that, I'm just trying to understand"
"Because she warned me that Asher would reject me and that I had to be strong. She also told me Asher isn't my true mate..." A smile crept up his face at my words. "That I had chosen him myself" And there the smile disappeared again. I couldn't help but smile at his little reaction. He gritted his teeth for a while.
"What does this person look like?"
Lucian:
Chosen mate really? I guess I could be happy with true mate but she chose him. How can I not be upset with that?
"What does the person look like ?", I asked her, being very careful of my choice in words. I didn't want to give away that I had been having similar dreams since I met her. Even though, most nights since I met her I haven't gotten sleep but the nights that I did I would also get dreams like this.
"She has glowing skin and shimmering floor length hair. She was very ethereal with some features like me", she said. That wasn't the same person who haunted my dreams. Mine was a tall man with warm glowing skin and short wavy hair. He was built like a true man. Then I remembered the man's words, "Without trust there cannot be respect and without respect there cannot be love"
"I've also.... been having these dreams scarlet"
Asher:
"HE IS HER F**KING MATE" I growled whilst destroying and rampaging my whole apartment. How could I not have seen it? That's why he was so willing to help her. Here I was convincing myself Layla played a role in it all. But he was her mate. I recalled my parents' words
"She's got a second chance, mate. So you've lost any chance of her now. Kind of a shame she would've been a great Luna for us, but now she will be one for Silvermoon. At least Lucian had eyes in his head" "And a brain".
Saige stormed out of the room wearing a skimpy night gown that couldn't do its job at covering her body. The sight of her made me even angrier.NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
I gripped her by the neck and watched her squirm under my grip. "THIS is your fault" My beast spat. I could feel him fronting. He was going wild and I was struggling more and more to keep him in control. Tears started streaming down her face, smudging her mascara. I let her drop to the floor gasping for air.
"Get yourself together and OUT OF MY FACE!" I shouted at her, and she didn't even take a moment to dress properly before she stormed out.
I leaned against the wall cupping a shot of gin in my hand. I always thought she would come back and we could work something out, but if I can't have her, then no one will.
