Chandler knew in that moment that she was not just a passing enchantment; she was a force that would forever alter the rhythm of his heart. He wanted her, but she’d told him that didn’t want to be with anyone, and now he was confused about what to do with his feelings. As she approached, their eyes met, sparking a connection that transcended the mere physical realm and he was sure that she felt it too. He could tell because it was right there in her eyes, but of course she was fighting it, he thought as he watched her look away.
“I hope I’m not late,” she said when she stood in front of them.
“Not at all,” said Chandler, shaking his head as if trying to shake away the spell she’d cast on him, “Matt, this is Elena Davis. Elena…. Mr Matt Harrington,”
Elena and the man shook hands as he introduced himself to her. He was wearing a sky blue shirt tucked into black pants. He wasn’t as tall as Chandler, but he looked about the same age as him and also handsome.
They went into the building, and Matt Harrington ushered Chandler and Elena into the airy space, sunlight streaming through large windows that bathed the room in a warm, golden glow. The walls were painted a soothing pastel hue, while elegant pendant lights hung from the ceiling, casting a gentle luminance over the open area.
“Welcome, Miss Davis! Chandler tells me you need a bake shop and this space might just be perfect for you,” Matt Harrington exclaimed, his voice brimming with enthusiasm as he gestured towards the layout. “As you can see, it’s spacious, with ample natural light that’s perfect for showcasing your exquisite cakes. The high ceilings offer a sense of openness, allowing for creativity in your displays and designs.”
Elena’s eyes twinkled with excitement as she scanned the area, envisioning her dream bakery taking shape within these walls. “It’s beautiful,” she murmured, her voice filled with appreciation.
Matt Harrington continued, pointing out various features. “The layout is versatile. You have a designated area here for a display counter, which can exhibit your specialty cakes and pastries. The separate section over there can serve as your kitchen space, fully equipped to handle your baking needs. Plus, the proximity to the main street ensures good foot traffic and visibility for your business.”
Elena nodded, her mind already visualizing the possibilities. “It’s everything I’ve been looking for. The ambiance is perfect, and I can see how I could customize the layout to suit my baking requirements.”
Matt Harrington smiled, knowing he had hit the mark. “Absolutely! This space allows for both functionality and charm. It’s in a bustling area, with nearby businesses that complement yours, ensuring a steady stream of potential customers. And the lease terms are favorable for someone starting a new venture like yours.”
Elena’s excitement bubbled as she imagined her cake creations adorning the display counter, the scent of vanilla and chocolate permeating the air, and the delighted smiles of satisfied customers enjoying her confections. “I love it,” she declared, a sense of determination in her voice. “This is where I want to build my cake empire.”
With Matt Harrington’s guidance and assurances, they continued the tour, discussing potential modifications and how Elena could transform the space into the perfect haven for her burgeoning cake business. As they exchanged ideas, the space seemed to come alive with the promise of fulfilling Elena’s sweetest dreams.
By afternoon time, the place was Elena’s. Every paper was signed, the keys were handed to her and Chandler had been there with her the entire time. Not talking over her or anything. He let her do her thing. Ask the questions she needed to ask, chipped in his opinion when needed and was a perfect gentleman the entire time. His eyes remained fixated on Elena as she engaged in a lively conversation with Matt. Her laughter rang melodiously through the room at some point, drawing his attention like a magnet.
When she went out to make a phone call, Matt leaned over and whispered to Chandler. “So, who’s the new chick and how did you meet her?” he asked.
Chandler eyed the man suspiciously. He’d noticed the way Matt’s eyes lingered a bit too long on Elena when he introduced them, a hint of interest gleaming in his gaze. In all the time he’d known Matt, he’d never introduced anyone to him although they’d hung out once or twice as friends, “Why do you want to know? Is that something that concerns her getting the place?”
Matt Harrington shook his head and laughed, but a look of determination flashed in his eyes “No, I’m just asking. She’s…. Very beautiful…. Stunning if you ask me.” He began, his tone somewhat hesitant, “I was asking just to be sure. Are you two together or something, because if you are not…. I might just ask her out on a date sometime. What do you think?”
Chandler’s expression tightened imperceptibly, a surge of protectiveness surging within him. He regarded Matt, his voice calm but firm.” I don’t think you should, ” he said,
“Why not? Are you two a thing?”..
“No… But… Look, Matt, Elena is someone I’m interested in. I’d appreciate it if you backed off on that front.”
“So you guys are not together?” Matt insisted,
“No, but still, you should back off, Matt,”
A tension lingered in the air, the flicker of a silent standoff between the two men. Chandler’s words hung heavy with intent, his eyes conveying a warning that went beyond mere conversation. He cared deeply for Elena, and the thought of someone else vying for her attention stirred a possessive streak he hadn’t realized was there.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
Matt hesitated for a moment, meeting Chandler’s gaze before nodding in understanding. “Sure, man. I get it. I’ll respect that.”
Chandler nodded in acknowledgement, a sense of relief washing over him. The last thing he wanted was to get into an altercation with Matt because he liked the guy, but Elena was his, even if she didn’t know it yet. He returned his gaze to the door just as Elena walked inside again, her smile illuminating the space. Chandler knew he had to make his intentions clear and not let anyone come between him and the chance to get closer to her, and he had to do that fast.
“Everything okay?” she asked.
