Chapter 51 Brooch Auction
Emilia raised the corners of her lips and said, "Mr. Limbaugh has already shown enough kindness by
letting you eat. How dare you have ideas about sitting next to him?"
Then, she stood in front of the sofa on the right. She looked at Charleston and asked, "Mr. Limbaugh,
can I sit here?"
"Yes." Charleston nodded.
"Thank you, Mr. Limbaugh." Emilia smiled blissfully.
Margaret could feel the flames burning in the pit of her stomach as she watched.
"You don't want to eat anymore?" Charleston had been paying attention to Margaret all this while.
Margaret said grumpily, "Didn't you tell me not to sit? I don't want to eat anymore!"
"Who said I didn't let you sit?"
"Then where should I sit?" All the seats were occupied.
All of a sudden, Charleston placed his hands on Margaret's waist and sat her down. "On my leg!" He
said.
The room went quiet.
With Charleston's hands around her waist, Margaret could not move freely as she continued sitting on
his lap.
Discomfort crept into Margaret's skin. She could barely hold it still any longer.
Charleston snorted and said suggestively, "Don't move. Otherwise, I'm afraid that I won't be able to
control myself here..."
"Only beasts cannot control themselves." Margaret twitched her mouth.
"That's right. I'm a beast that always wants to devour you." Charleston stuck out his tongue and licked
her delicate neck.
Margaret shivered as she rolled her eyes in annoyance.
She did not know how to speak animal language. Hence, she did not know how to communicate with
this beast.
The clock chimed again.
The auctioneer, dressed in his proper auctioning attire, strolled onto the stage.
"Mr. Limbaugh, the auction has begun." Emilia quickly raised her voice, interrupting their erotic
conversation.
A picture of the first auction item appeared in the air.
It was an ancient memorabilia from the old days in Haverland.
The bid started at 800 thousand dollars.
Most people who came were the rich and the influential. This price was nothing to them.
However, as most of them came here with their female companions, in an effort to please them, they
would not purchase these antiques that were typically unfavored by women.
Hence, the highest bid was only 1. 2 million dollars.
From the second collection onwards, the auctioneer seemed to have read the crowd. He began selling
items that appealed to the female crowd.
There were jewel boxes, top-grade perfumes, luxurious crystal high-heels...
The audience in the auction area started bidding crazily.
All this while, Margaret had just been happily eating fruits and giving the occasional yawn as she sat on
Charleston's lap.
This auction did not pique her interest at all, and she was bored to death.
On the other hand, Emilia watched the auctions with great interest and envy.
When the twelfth item was revealed to the crowd, sounds of gasp could be heard across the room. It
was an exquisite, wing-shaped brooch that looked breathtakingly stunning.
It had definitely caught Emilia's eye.
"Mr. Limbaugh, I want that..." Emilia looked at Charleston shyly.
Although Emilia's family was quite wealthy, she was still not qualified to come to the party. She was
only here because of her connections.
And she was only here because she was on a lookout for a wealthy husband.
There was no doubt that Charleston was the best candidate.
"Do you want to buy it?" Charleston asked.
Emilia quickly nodded.
At that moment, the brooch's bid was at 1. 5 million dollar.
"1. 5 million going once, 1. 5 million going twice..."
"Two million!"
Everyone was taken by surprise. Although the brooch design was exquisite, 1. 5 million dollars was
already too high of a price to pay for it. No one expected someone to actually bid two million for it.
However, when the crowd realised that it was the Limbaugh family who had offered the price, they
nodded their heads in understanding.
Spending two million dollars on a brooch was no big deal for the Limbaugh family. The family wouldn't
bat an eye even if it was a two-million dollar piece of rug.
"Two million going once, two million going twice, two million going thrice! Sold!" The auctioneer
announced excitedly.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
