Chapter 79

Can she bear the thought of Nick in jail?

She had forgiven him for kidnapping and taking her by force but now she was enraged because he

deceived her. He toyed with her. No doubt he considered her as witless, brain-dead. She didn't want to

imagine what he was thinking while she was with him as Derick/ Nick. She felt played on...cheated...

but the bitter truth was, she still loved him. She had to make a decision now...

"You don't have to do that Emma. I will not file any charges. I already had forgiven him for what he did

to me in the past. But he made a fool out of me and that is one thing I find hard to forgive and forget. If I

didn't see that certificate, I wonder if he had any plan of telling me about Derick and Nick being the

same man! " she couldn't stop her voice from trembling.

His mother was silent for a few moments.

"You have a good heart Stacey. Thank you so much. It is very painful for a mother to see any of her

children in jail but my husband and I will take action if Nicholas or Alfred would do any injustice to

anyone. The whole family wants to extend our sincerest apology for everything that had happened. My

wish is for you and my son to work things out. I really like you for him and when we met you tonight, we

all considered you as a part of our family. You are a great woman and you are good for my son. We will

help Nicholas make it up to you. I am hoping that you will give him another chance. I will give hand the

phone to him now so you two can talk. In behalf of my family, I want to say thank you again. " The older

woman said humbly.

She was really moved by what she said. " Thank you for your kind words but I am sorry I don't want to

talk to Nick. Please tell him to leave me alone. I don't ever want to see him nor talk to him again." she

said in a voice that is void of emotion.

It had been a full minute after the phone conversation but she was still staring at the mobile phone.

"Girlfriend?" Eve 's voice brought her back to reality.

Her eyes are blank as she looked at her friend. She slowly raised her hand to give her back the cell

phone.

"Do you mean that? You don't ever want to see Nick again?" she asked .

"I feel that this is the right thing to do. " she said in a small voice and Eve nodded

"Most of the time what we feel is the right thing to do can bring unhappiness especially if you will

sacrifice love. We all make mistakes. Some regret and ask forgiveness but some don't. The ones who

admitted their mistakes and are willing to do everything to make up for them should be given second

chances. But it still depends on the person. If we feel that someone who hurt us is not worth giving

another chance, then don't. But if we still love that someone, why make things hard for us and that

someone, right? Just my two cents, if the reason why you are breaking up with him is he cheated on

you, I am all for that. I can't imagine how hurt you feel because he kept his real identity to you but

honestly, I can also understand him. He was stalling because he was afraid of losing you once you

knew the truth. He may not have handled this thing well but one thing is for sure, he has very deep and

strong feelings for you. You told me that he bought all the June edition of the magazines where you

were the centerfold to spare you from humiliation. If he didn't care for you. he wouldn't throw his money

down the drain. So if I were you, I would talk to him first before making a decision that might bring you

a lot of pain in the end. " Eve advised.

She tried to absorb what her friend said. She was hurting nor but she was also sure that Nick had his

own valid reason for doing what he did. She now remembered that him as Derick, he said that he had

no confidence to show his face to her. Does he think that women were a only after his money and good

looks?

As Derick, he was a wonderful lover and she felt his care for her. And as Nick, though he blackmailed

her to be his girlfriend, she could now appreciate all the effort he did to pursue her. She almost laughed

when she imagined how difficult it was for him to keep two identities. He exerted a lot of effort indeed!

She touched her temple. The whole situation triggered her migraine again.

"I am done for tonight. Let me sleep on it." she told Eve.

Her friend sighed. "Good luck then! I don't think that breaking up with him will be easy. I saw him with

you remember? Just don't ever forget that I am always here for you no matter what."

"Thank you." she said with a small smile.

" I have to go. I am in charge of the bar for a few days. I told Blake to take a rest."

"How is he?" she asked with knitted brows.

"His ego is crushed. He was just caught off guard that's why those men were able to beat him up. He

doesn't even want to report the incident because he said he will deal with them his way. He is

determined to find out who is behind it."

She just nodded. They hugged one more time before Eve left her. She may not have a real sister who

She decided to call Blake to ask how he was. “I heard what happened to you. Are you okay now?"

"I'll live." he answered with a chuckle.

She sighed in relief. Nick might be jealous of him but for her , Blake was just a friend . It was Nick she

loved however attractive Blake was. Her face broke into a frown. She couldn't seem to stop thinking

about him.

"Next time don't drink when you drive your big bike. That is very dangerous. And if you weren't roaring

drunk, those men wouldn't have had the chance to do that to you. "

"If I didn't know that you weren't with that condescending boss of yours, I would feel that you care

about me." he joked.

She laughed quietly. " "Of course I care about you. We are friends right?" she asked . Wanting to get an

assurance that for him that was all they would ever be.

He was silent for a moment of two before he finally said, "You already have a boyfriend so I guess you

are right Miss Hotness. Though I can give him a run for his money, for you, I won't. I don't want to

cause trouble between you two. "

She chewed the inside of her cheek. Blake might have a bad boy image but he was a true gentleman.

His ex lost a good man.

"Tell your boyfriend that he doesn't have to be jealous of me anymore. I am going away somewhere to

shake bad luck." he said with a hint of seriousness.

"I am so sorry about what happened Blake. You deserve someone better. Your Miss Right is just

around the corner.

"Maybe. But you know Miss Hotness, we could have been good together but I guess we're not meant

to be." he said.

She had to take some pain reliever as usual. She was on Lucille's bed because she doesn't usually go

home at night when they have a gig. She somehow felt jealous of her friends. They are all independent

unlike her. Nick took over her life when she left her step-father's house.

She sighed.

Her ex entered her mind again. She should stop thinking about him. She promised herself that she

would find her own place the next day.

She felt her eyelids started to get heavy but mages of him as Derick without his stubble, keep on

playing inside her head. She couldn't seem to erase it. She covered her face with the pillow. She really

needed to forget Nick/ Derick. It was her choice and she should stick to it. She lied on her stomach and

let sleep take away her worries .

She felt something heavy around her. She was now on her back. She slowly opened her eyes only to

be shocked that she was in a different room. Her forehead creased. She gasped when she realized

that she was not alone on the bed.

Her ex was sleeping peacefully next to her. He looks so hot. He shaved his stubble and his muscled

arm was resting under her breasts.
