Kiss
“Toxic?”Olivia scoffed, batting her lashes rapidly.
“Yes.”Winifred gulped down nervously.
“All you only care for is yourself. You don’t wanna know about me. Just yourself. You want me to do everything to your taste.”Wini sighed.
Olivia went to sit down on the seat beside the bed and pursed her lips.
“I’m.. sorry.”she said the least thing Wini had expected to hear.
She never imagined that she would actually apologize.
“I.. our break up got me to know some other things as well. I’m sorry for all I’ve done but, please, even if you don’t want to date me back, I will understand. Just.. don’t try to push me away from visiting you here.”
Winifred squirmed her lips then gave a ‘whatever’ look.
Olivia smiled before pecking her cheeks.
“I saw Beatrice as she left.”
“Yep. And, nothing is going on between us both.”Winifred glanced at her quickly.
“I know.”she nodded.
Well, she has changed a lot.
..
Beatrice got back home and retired to her room.
She’d gone to check on Melinda first in the kitchen but she was told she has gone out to get some foodstuffs.
Just like the typical her everyday, she read a book, ate a lot, slept, woke up, read again and ate again too.
After about some hours, Beatrice heard a knock on her door.
“Come in.”she said lazily.
Melinda came inside.
“Peekaboo!”
Beatrice laughed.
“Oh, you back?.”
“Well, uhm, yeah. I just had to go get the groceries myself. How is Winifred fairing by the way?”
“She.. is good.”Beatrice nodded and pressed her lips together.
“And, have you stopped blaming yourself?”Melinda placed her hands on her hips.
“A little bit.”she chuckled.
Melinda rolled her eyes.
“You should find a friend to hang out with sometimes. Maybe Alyssa?. You can’t just be staying indoors every blessed day. You’re still a youth and you’ve got a blooming life to live.”
“I just don’t like going out naturally.”
“You’re just like Gregory. Would you believe me if I tell you that guy has never gone to a club before?”
“I believe you.”Beatrice gave a nod.
Melinda huffed.
“Birds of the same feather flocks together.”
They did few more talkings before Melinda left to prepare dinner.
Beatrice was left alone yet again.
She buried her face back in her phone’s screen.
She went through celebrities timelines on Instagram and when she got bored with that, she watched some funny videos.
She returned back to reading her story and she decided to do a little writing too.
Before she knew it, it was time for dinner.
Only her and Melinda ate since Gregory was still not back.
Beatrice laughed when lying down on her bed, staring at the ceiling when she remembers Melinda’s question.
“Or, would you like to wait for him so you guys can eat together?”
She doesn’t do that with the man she loved before they broke up so why would she do so with a fake husband?
“Ma’am?”she heard a familiar voice at the door.
“Come in.”she ushered the person in.
“Mr Gregory requested for your presence in his room.”Megan came in and informed.
Beatrice brows furrowed up in confusion.
He is back?
Why did he want her to come to his room though?
“Okay. You can go.”Beatrice sat up.
“Alright, ma’am.”she left.
Beatrice nabs her phone from the bed before moving out of the room.
She went into his room and met him sitting quietly on his bed.

“You called for m–”
“Read me stories.”he interrupted, abruptly.
Beatrice instantly felt grateful that she’s written about three episodes of the story during the day.
She sat down on the chair and studied him before reading.
She finished reading the three episodes and looks up at him.
It doesn’t seem like that was enough.
“Uhh.. that’s the only episodes I have now.”she cleared her throat and rubbed the temple of her neck nervously.
He glanced at her and scoffs.
“Leave then.”he took his eyes away from her.
Just like that?
Beatrice was a little surprised that he didn’t grouse about that.
She stood up and sauntered to the door.
She placed her hand on the hinge of the door but suddenly stopped, throwing her head back at him.
“About Melinda..”she began.
His eyes snaps up at her.
“What about her?”
“Nothing. You guys seem close. I.. well, never mind.”she chuckled and opened the door, about to go out.
“She is like a mother to me.”she heard him respond.
“Oh, I see. Goodnight.”she said before going out of his room.
She headed back to her room and drifted into sleep.

#Next day.
The sun poured its rays on Beatrice’s face, waking her up from her deep slumber.
She got up from her bed, went to take her bath, dress up then took the stairs down to the dining room.
Melinda was still setting the table when she got there.
“Ready to go visit Winifred?”Melinda asks with a smile.
“Yep. Good morning.”she sat down on the chair.
“Is Gregory still sleeping?”
“I don’t know.”Beatrice shrugged.
Melinda sighed before dishing out her food for her.
When she was done eating, she went to drop the plate in the kitchen and tried to wash it but Melinda told her not to worry then she left.
She went up to her room and carried her bag.
The weather was extremely cold because of the rain that fell heavily in the midnight.
She ruffled through her stuff, looking for her head warmer.
She huffed after realizing she didn’t bring it along with her.
She wore her sweater but still branched at Gregory’s room to ask if he has one.
“I do. Check it in my closet.”he replied.
He was dressed up for work already but he was checking out something on his laptop.
She searched his closet but found nothing.
“Well, I can’t find it. Can you please get up and come search it for me?”she snorts.
He stood up and moved to the closet.
He picked the warmer up at the first search and gave her a look.
She shrugged before putting it on.
“Thanks for the car. I forgot to thank you yesterday.”
“No need to thank me. I’m only doing this for me.”he sighed.
She scoffs.
“Well, I know. Any heads up on Jennifer though?”
“No.”he grunts and tried to walk away but she blocked him.
“Are you even doing what I asked you to do?”she perched her brows up at him.
He scoffed and took a step closer to her.
She moved back with a frown.
“You are not?”she asks.
“I’m on it.”he replied and made to leave again.
“If she turns out to be the real culprit, what are you going to do?”
“Hand her over to the cops, of course.”
“When you know her family can easily buy her way out?”she peered her eyes at him.
“Hmm?”she raised a brow when she didn’t get a response.
She took a step nearer to him, about to taunt him again.
She was surprised when he didn’t move back.
Instead, he bent his head a little and kissed her.
