Her, To Home

Chapter 06

She looked around once again but saw no sight of him. Where one part of her was relieved that maybe he had left, a bigger part was racing with fear of him leaving again. Why, why could she not just get over him? Forget maybe but even she knew it was impossible.

“What’s wrong Sara?” June asked.

“It’s nothing, I just had a bad night.” Lies.

“It was because of him, wasn’t it?”Belonging to NôvelDrama.Org.

“Jun—-”

“No. This is absurd, Sara. He left, without a letter or note or call. He has no right.” June snapped.

“I know.”

She was lying but what choice did she had? She didn’t want to argue, didn’t wanted to talk about it and the mostly, she didn’t understand June’s attitude. June never presses anything so why so suddenly she was pressing for her to leave him alone, making sure that he was away from her or was she imagining everything? She probably was but she was tired. A week had passed since she last saw him. She knew he was still in town; knew he was around. She had felt his eyes everywhere, she felt them now but she also knew that if she looked around, she won’t see him. He was good at hiding but she searched anyway.

She sipped her chocolate milk and again did a quick swipe of her surroundings but it went down in vain. There was nothing to see. He wanted to remain hidden.

People have yet to stop talking. Usually, people were afraid to talk to her but now, they were terrified. Some girls have start showing their true colors and asked her if she was together with Dean, she had replied she wasn’t which resulted in another million questions like where he was from last two years? How he was and why did he kiss her? Questions which she wanted to ask herself.

But did she have a right?

She never really talked to guys before but now, they seem to run a mile when they saw her. It was obvious to everyone except her.

“You think you can walk home today? I need to leave early.” June asked while clearing up her papers.

“Yeah, I’ll be fine.” Sara replied absentmindedly.

“Okay, I am going to hand my paper to Mister Foe now, I’ll see you tomorrow.” June said and after giving Sara a small hug, went inside the school doors leaving her alone outside.

The rain which was falling slightly, speed up till the last bell. Sara wasn’t happy but like she had a choice but to walk but yet, of all the days it had to be today. She picked up her bag from her locker and stepped outside in the rain while frowning. Again, she felt his eyes on her but this time she ignores the urge to look around. It was cold and Sara didn’t have her jacket with her because it was warm enough in the morning so she just pulled her upper closer and crossed her arms tightly over her chest as she walked her way from school.

She had just walked out of the main road when he appeared in his car. She didn’t know it was him till he stopped the car in front of her, blocking her way.

The curse was stuck in her throat when he grabbed her from her wrist and dragged her to the passenger side only to open the door and push her inside. After slamming her door shut, he walked to the driver side and got in. Sara was still frozen in her seat trying to believe what happened.

After the passing of five minutes, she found her voice.

“What the hell do you think you are doing?” she demanded, her heart racing.

“Driving you home.” Was his reply

“I can walk!” Her voice came out angry.

“You’ll get sick.” His voice in return was casual.

“I am not made of glass!”

“Still.”

“I can’t believe you!”

Silence.

She glared at him while he looked up front, ignoring her glare. She was so angry, why? It probably didn’t even have anything to do with the fact that he almost abducted her, hell she was sure it had nothing to do with it but it was more because of the week he had stayed away.

“I was hoping you have left.” she said after turning her glare up front as well but this time she felt his eyes on her but as before he refuses to look at her, this time it was her turn.

“Were you, really?” his voice was silent but yet she knew, he wanted to know.

“I don’t know.” she suddenly felt very tired.

When he didn’t say anything for a while, she looked back at him to see him already staring at her. His eyes were blank, dark but she saw the anger but no guilt, never guilt.

She looked away from his eyes only to find that they were not going home. She tried to look past the rain but saw nothing much.

“Where are you taking us?” she demanded while trying her best to look outside.

“Are you scared of me?” he asked, his tune might he blank, careless but she saw his eyes, they were burning, she saw that he wanted to know the answer, that what she was going to say mattered to him, meant something to him.

Scared of him? Was he out of his bloody mind? This guy has taught her how to walk for the love of God! She wasn’t scared of him, she was scared for herself, for what he could do to her, her mind and the worst, her heart.

“Of course not!”

“Do you trust me?”

“No.”

She really didn’t. He had left once; she can’t trust him with anything now and if he expected the answer to be yes then he was really living in a wonderland because she wasn’t that easy with forgiveness or her trust. He broke it once, he had yet to give the prove that he won’t break it again.

She saw the flash of hurt in his eyes dancing around, like it was mocking her. Making her see how much she had pained him and she knew she had but Sara O’Brian doesn’t lie, not to him and he knew that.

“I guess I deserved that.”

“Did you, really?”

He didn’t answer and she was frustrated.

“Am I ever going to get answers from you?” she asked and this time she felt her eyes getting watery. She didn’t want to cry, didn’t wanted to let him see that it hurts her so she turned the other way.

“Look at me.” his voice was soft but she wasn’t going to fall in that trap.

“Look at me, O’Brian!” this time his voice was hard, cold and demanding.

Bipolar asshole.

She still didn’t look at him, she couldn’t.

To say she was shocked by his next move would be stupid because after years of knowing him, she was supposed to be used to it but she was shocked because Dean never treated her like this, ever. Never was he this intimate.

He had hit the brakes and with a quick move, pulled her towards him, so close that their noses were touching, breaths mixing. Her heart stopped.

He was glaring down at her, the anger in his eyes were as clear as the rain outside. His body stiff, his hands keeping a hard hold on her. Her eyes had gone wide but the tears never fell but she knew he saw her wet eyes.

“I don’t want you crying.” he growled.

She wanted to deny, refuse that she wasn’t crying but she was very tired, she felt drained and it was that second when she realized she have not eaten properly from a week.

“I am not.” she mumbled while blinking away the tears.

She saw him staring her right in the eyes, not removing his hands from her. His dark eyes were looking at her with a depth she never understood but then again, she was always a little slow. She needed words, she believed that words were a great weapon, depending on how they are used but ironic the fact that she was best friend with a guy who never bothered with much words.

He stared at her till her eyes were back too normal and then he also lost the fire in his eyes as he stared at her, his gaze softening and he did another thing which though shouldn’t have surprised her but did, he kissed her head and slowly let go of her.

Without another word, he started the car again. She was looking at him in curiosity maybe, she didn’t understand. She had questions but she just couldn’t help but stop herself because she didn’t think she had the right to ask them.

She finally looked away and tried once again to see from the heavy rain where they were going but it was impossible.

The car stopped but before she could get out, his hand on her arm stopped her.

“Wait.”
