Her Precious Baby

Chapter 48

Chapter 48

“Angel!” An adorable voice sounded as well.

Halting in her tracks, Angeline spread out her arms subconsciously and hugged the person.

When Angeline caught a closer glimpse of the child burying herself in her arms, an amused look crept into her eyes. She reminded softly, “Run slower next time, Floretta.”

“I missed you so much, Angel!” Floretta jumped excitedly and hugged Angeline’s waist, refusing to let go.

Children grew very quickly, almost seeming to change every single day. It was obvious that Floretta had gained some weight recently. Angeline stumbled, unable to carry her.

“Floretta!” At that moment, a deep and masculine voice rang out.

Angeline stared at Evander a distance away and asked in surprise, “Why are you here, Mr. Golding?”

“I’m not busy at noon,” explained Evander briefly, his voice as cold as his personality.

Walking over, he pulled Floretta away from Angeline and chided unhappily, “Who taught you to climb onto people like that? How unladylike of you!”

After he said that, Floretta behaved better. She stood beside Evander and winked at Angeline secretly.

“Mr. Golding, since you’re already here, you can sit at Angeline’s lounge for a while,” suggested Nancy, breaking the tense atmosphere. She pushed Angeline’s shoulders and reminded her, “Take good care of Mr. Golding and Floretta. I’ll get the staff to send some food up later.”

“Hey!” Before Angeline could say anything else, Nancy had already left.

Smiling exasperatedly, she shot a careful gaze at Evander and asked, “Mr. Golding, it’s a very humble lounge. Do you mind?”

“No,” replied Evander calmly.

With that, Angeline held Floretta’s hand and brought them to the lounge.

Starlight Jewelry was a major corporation. Although the lounge that they had prepared for Angeline last minute was not huge, it was well-equipped with daily necessities and electronic products.

Furthermore, since Angeline would only rest there for a few hours at noon, the room was extremely clean.

With his hands crossed behind his back, Evander strode into the room, looking like a manager inspecting the place.

Due to his arrival, the atmosphere in the room became awkward.

However, Floretta glanced around and fiddled with the items around the room curiously. Grabbing the game console on the table, her eyes lit up with excitement. “Angel, can I play games on your television?” C0ntent © 2024 (N/ô)velDrama.Org.

When Angeline heard that, she returned to her senses. “I’ve never played any games, but you probably can.”

Staring at the television, she suddenly thought of a good solution to diffuse the awkward atmosphere. She walked over, turned on the television, and switched it to game mode, revealing a dozen different games.

“Why don’t we play a racing game?” Angeline snuck a glance at Evander and noticed that he did not oppose it.

“Sure! Sure!” Floretta clapped happily and selected a racing championship game that could let three people play at once. She then grabbed a game console and shoved it into Evander’s hands.

“Daddy, isn’t it boring just sitting there? Come here and play with us!”

A faint smile formed on Evander’s lips as he gazed at the game console in his hands and sat beside Floretta.

The game officially started as the three race cars zoomed on the big screen. Since Angeline wanted to make Floretta happy, she did not put in her full effort. On the other hand, Evander was dead serious, and his car soon surpassed theirs.

Frowning in frustration, Floretta yelled angrily, “Angel, you can do it! We must win!”

For Floretta’s sake, Angeline decided to be serious. Her fingers controlled the game console nimbly, allowing her to evade all the obstacles and catch up with Evander’s car quickly.

“Yay! Angel’s amazing!” Floretta jumped up from the couch excitedly.

When Evander glanced at Angeline’s beautiful side profile, he noticed that her brown hair was loosely tied behind her head. A few strands of hair on her forehead dangled beside her cheeks, accentuating the bright look in her eyes.

Angeline was the only woman who constantly made him feel challenged.

Maintaining his original speed, Evander tailed behind Angeline’s car closely for half an hour. At the last juncture, right when he was about to overtake her, Floretta suddenly kicked his game console.

Evander lurched forward when his car suddenly crashed into a missile. Grabbing that opportunity, Angeline surpassed him and clinched the upper hand.

“Wow! We won!”

Floretta ran over, flung her arms around Angeline’s neck, and kissed her face.

Looking at the victory scene on the television screen, Angeline was also filled with excitement.

“Daddy, you need to accept the punishment for losing.” Floretta crawled to Evander and flicked his forehead.

A grim look crossed Evander’s face as he demanded coldly, “Another round.”

This is ridiculous! I raised my daughter for so long, but it feels like I’m doing it for Angeline instead.

However, the phone in his pocket suddenly rang. When he glanced at the name on the screen, he walked to the toilet and picked it up.

Reappearing with a solemn expression, he looked at Angeline and said, “Something happened at the office, so I’m afraid that you’ll have to help me take care of Floretta. I’ve already asked Francesca to come over.”

Immediately understanding what he said, Angeline assured, “Okay, I’ll take good care of Floretta. Don’t worry and just go ahead with your work.”

“Okay,” replied Evander calmly before grabbing his coat and striding away.

After he left, Nancy delivered Angeline’s lunch. Angeline turned off the television and carried Floretta to the dining table.

“Floretta, I have a gift for you!” Suddenly remembering something, Angeline opened the drawer in the lounge and took out a bottle of strawberry yogurt drink.

Since she knew that Floretta loved drinking it, she had bought it the moment she joined the crew. Out of convenience, she just placed it in her lounge.

“It’s a pity that I couldn’t find the brand that you usually like in the supermarket, so I bought the most expensive one for you.”

“Wow! You’re amazing, Angel!” Floretta’s eyes sparkled with excitement. She poked the straw into the yogurt drink, took a sip, and swung her legs in satisfaction. “Yummy! It’s better than what Daddy buys.”

“If you like it, I’ll bring one for you every day.” Angeline burst out laughing.

It’s so easy to make kids happy. She’s so delighted just by drinking this yogurt drink that doesn’t even cost that much.

Floretta’s eyes swiveled around as she inched closer to Angeline. “Angel, what do you think of Daddy?”

“He’s not bad. Very capable. Why?”

When Floretta heard those words, her eyes instantly lit up. “Angel, since both you and Daddy are single, why don’t you consider having him as your husband?”

When Angeline heard that, her expression changed drastically, and she spat out the water in her mouth.

“Floretta, don’t speak nonsense! How can I ever be with your daddy? Furthermore, doesn’t he have a fiancée?”

She quickly grabbed a few pieces of tissue paper and wiped her mouth. Placing her hand over her pounding heart, she still could not calm down after a long time.

Luckily, Evander’s left. If he had overheard it, things would have gotten messy!

Floretta lowered her head disappointedly. Her eyes watered before tears flowed down her cheeks.

“I’m so pitiful! I’ve never seen my mommy ever since I was young. Soon, I’ll fall into Ms. Sherrock’s clutches and become an abused child…”

“Why would you be abused? What about your mom?”
