I face court lady chun.”I think you know what to do next”Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
She nodded her head and used her eyes to signal the maids. Immediately two of the maids wrapped Ku Soha up with a mat and carried her away.
I let out a deep sigh as I watched the maids and court lady Chun heading toward the other end of the palace.
“We will meet tomorrow as soon as the early morning sun rises,” I said and the two maids with me bowed their heads courteously and left the premises.
I looked at Na ji hye, looking serious “I will go to my mother chamber”
“Yes Your highness” Na ji hye bow and lead the way with her hand. I turned to the direction of the queen chamber walking elegantly with Na ji hye behind me.
All the maids and eunuchs we met on the way stopped and bow courteously when they saw me.
In no time we got to the queen chamber and the maids at the door announced my presence. The door was open after mother granted me access and I walked in.
Mother as usual was doing her embroidery. She looked comfortable on the laid covers she is sitting on like a person with zero worry in the world. Well that’s the truth, mother has always had no interest in politics unlike some queen of a kingdom who can do anything for power.
I sat in front of her staring at the embroidery she was making. She is applying yarn to decorate a fabric.
It was baby clothes. It looked so divine, like I wasn’t even worth looking at it.
“What brings you here?” she finally asked after a long period of silence.
“What did you mean? Can’t I come and greet you again” I pout sadly
“I know you suk. You don’t come here unless you have something to ask or do” she replied and raised her head up staring at me with narrowed eyes.
I gulped down nothing and crossed my hand underneath my breast.
“I didn’t come to greet you as you said since you believe that as well”
She raised her head up fully and adjusted on her seat.
“I came for my little prince” my gaze fixed on her protruding tummy.
She chuckled softly.” And who told you the baby is a boy”
“Of course it is a boy. I will soon have a younger brother who I can protect as a big sister” a smile plastered on my lip as I said the words.
Mother chuckled again.”Well sorry to disappoint you. This baby is a girl.” She said and I raised my eyebrow at her with a small frown on my face.
“A princess, who will have time for me and together we will both sit and do embroidery. who I can gist with all the time and she would tell me how her day went by and we will do a lot of fun things together” she said with a big happy smile on her face while rubbing her stomach gently.
I know I am the opposite of all she just mentioned. I don’t like embroidery and she has always forced me to do it and I prefer taking care of my matters without anyone knowing about it, which I know she wants me to share with her.
Sucking in breath. I deployed my hand from my breast and pinched the edge of my nose, then dropped them on the table gently. Mother was trying to cast my crime or more accurately what she prefers I do with her to me.
“Mother are you trying to let me know my crime toward you or what”
Her expression changed to that of an innocent face.
“No. I am just stating what I will do with your younger sister after she is born”
“Younger brother not a sister.” I correct and she scoffed loudly.
“There is no point in arguing with you. What brings you here exactly”
I released a deep sigh, my gaze lock with her “Mother. Actually there is something I want to talk with you about”
“Go on”
I rubbed my palm together nervously and breath some air into them dropping my hand on my skirt
“I need your help on something and if father should find out about this, it will really land me in trouble and only you can help me out”
“I am hearing you,” mother replied, bringing her gaze to meet mine.
“I want you to tell….”
I was talking when suddenly a voice in my head stopped me.
*I thought you were smart but I was wrong about you. How can you have it in mind to tell her something like that*
That’s right. It dangerous to let her know, beside I don’t have to get nervous, I only do the right thing
Mother voice bring me out of my thoughts “What did you want to tell me”
“It is nothing serious. Please don’t worry”
“Hey. When you know you aren’t going to tell me why you brought it up in the first place” She demands throwing her hand in the air in annoyance.
I smiled, a disarming smile and shrugged my shoulders.
“Your highness. It’s Court lady Chun”
We heard an announcement from the door and Shortly Court lady chun entered after mother had granted her access.
She bowed courteously and moved closer to me. She dropped a small box on the table.
“His Majesty sent you a gift,” She said, pointing at the box on the table.
“What is that?” Mother asked.
I was the one sent a gift but mother’s own is too much as she is stretching his neck to know what is in the box without even opening it yet.
I opened the box and a diamond bracelet shone brightly inside the box. Letter S was bodily embroidery on it which represents my name.
“Awww. It’s pretty” I said and picked the bracelet up from the box.
I lock it on my wrist.
Court lady chun picked the box and stood up. She bowed before leaving the room.
“What did you think?” I looked at my mother who was smiling at the bracelet.
“It’s catchy.” She replied and resumed her embroidery.
“His Majesty sent me a necklace this morning to celebrate your brother crown princess selection in advance. I guess that’s your own gift” mother added.
Oh I totally forgot about that. My brother will soon be choosing his bride who will be the crown princess. At this time all noble ladies who are interested in becoming the crown princess are expected to come to the palace for the selection process.
I guessed there will soon be some fun inside the palace because most of those ladies will certainly cause trouble. I smile at the anticipation, fight and fun involved in it.
“Mother I want to spend the rest of my day with you, by making clothes for my little brother but I will make some for a girl as well” I said and mother looked up at me surprisedly.
“I know my embroidery is the worst, that ‘s why I want you to teach me” I added and stood up then sat next to her.
She looked at me for a few seconds and together we smiled and mother started lecturing me on how to make embroidery.
