Chapter 306
Chapter 306
Bryce's fever had gone after one day's treatment in the hospital. However, the doctor had diagnosed
his illness as viral flu. So it would be better for him to continue being on a drip for at least three days.
Then he needed to gradually regain his health by taking the medicine.
Consequently, Emily and Franklin's original plan to leave could only be put on hold. Jason's
investigation of Abigail also began to take shape. As expected, Abigail had left by car. As for where her
destination was, there was no more information yet.
"Jeez! Even if my mother wanted to leave, she should have let me know first. Now she left without
saying a word. I literally have no idea." Emily complained.
Franklin didn't say anything, but he could dope out what was on Abigail's mind.
There was every probability that Abigail had made this decision out of her selfishness. Being afraid of
being found by the Williams, she left quietly. As for Emily, Abigail probably didn't think about her at all,
or she felt that Franklin could easily protect Emily, so she didn't have to worry about her.
But he felt that the former was more likely, so he didn't say it out. He didn't want to see Emily get upset.
There was no news from Abigail when Daniel came to them again.
Emily looked at Daniel in surprise, "Why are you here?"
Daniel glanced at the bed. Bryce was asleep after taking his medicine. He walked over and touched
Bryce's little face, saying with a stiff face, "He has lost weight in just two days. You're too bad at taking
care of children."
Emily's lips twitched. Franklin and her were the biological parents of this child! But Daniel acted as if
they had just adopted this child from the orphanage.
However, Bryce did get sick when he had been taken care of by them. So she was at a loss for words.
However, her silence did not mean that Franklin did not care. He immediately walked over, edged
Daniel away, said coldly, "You don't have to worry about my son. I would like to ask, what have you
done to him before we came to pick him up? Why did he get sick as soon as we came out?"
Franklin and Daniel didn't like each other, so Daniel ignored him. He looked at Emily, and said, "I need
to talk to you. Just the two of us."
"No." Franklin immediately refused.
Daniel said coldly, "I'm talking to her, not you."
Franklin argued, "She's my wife. Her business is my business."
"Humph, she's also my younger sister. Do I have to ask for your permission if I need to talk to her?"
Daniel refused to give in.
Seeing that they were about to quarrel, Emily quickly reconciled them and said, "Okay, okay, stop
arguing. Let's try to talk calmly. Don't get angry!"
"I have to talk to you, but I have nothing to say to him." Daniel said coldly.
Franklin said, "Don't talk with him. You don't have to say a word to him."
"You two are grown-ups. Why are you still so childish?" Emily pouted and said resignedly.
Daniel and Franklin glanced at each other and were even more annoyed with each other. They
immediately turned their heads in the opposite direction to avoid seeing each other.
Emily sighed, walked over to Franklin, and whispered, "I'll just talk to him to see what he is going to tell
me. Don't worry, he's my elder brother. He won't hurt me."
"But I'm afraid he will plot against you," Franklin said.
Emily smiled and said, "How can he plot against me? You are thinking too much."
Franklin frowned. He had always felt that Daniel was obviously pawky. It cost the slightest amount of
effort for him to plot against Emily.
But Emily was so excited. He knew that she was still immersed in the joy of having an elder brother. So
he didn't want to break her heart.
He had no choice but to agree. However, he warned her with a grim face, "Don't agree to anything he
asks. We'll leave here as soon as Bryce gets better. We won't have anything to do with him in the
future."
"Okay, I know." Emily nodded but felt a little uncomfortable because he said that they would have
nothing to do with Daniel.
"Let's go out to talk!" Emily said to Daniel.
Daniel nodded. He also didn't want to stay in the ward or see Franklin.
Meanwhile, Franklin must not know about this. Otherwise, he would definitely oppose it.
Emily found a more secluded place with seats. After sitting down, she asked Daniel, "Do you want
something to drink? I'll buy it for you."
"Don't bother." Daniel said.
Emily pursed her lips. She could only sit obediently.
Daniel looked at her for a while before he started to speak slowly, "I come to see you today because I
hope you can do me a favor."
When Emily heard this, she realized that Franklin was right.
She said with a calm face, "What can I do for you? You're Daniel. You are a member of the Williams.
How can there be a situation when you ask others for help?" Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
"I really need your help. I hope you can continue to pretend to be my girlfriend in front of my mother."
Daniel said.
Emily said, "Didn't you say you lied because you didn't want your mother to know who I was? Now that
I have left, it was impossible for her to investigate me on purpose. Why do we need to continue to
pretend?"
"Humph, didn't Franklin tell you?" Daniel smiled slightly. He said with a hint of mockery.
Emily thought to herself that Franklin had guessed correctly. Daniel had an ulterior motive.
But she didn't understand why he wanted to continue their acting.
"Can you tell me why? If you can tell me, I will consider it. If you can't, then I'm sorry. I'm afraid that I
can't agree. You know that Franklin is unpleasant about me having too much to do with you, and I don't
want to disappoint him," Emily said.
Daniel said slowly, "You really care about him."
Emily immediately said, "Of course, we are a couple. I naturally care about him."
Daniel's eyes flashed with agony. After a long time, he smiled bitterly and said, "You're right. You
should care about him. Actually, I asked you to continue to acti with me because I don't want to get
married for the time being. My mother came here not only to see the child but also to force me to get
married. I'm not young anymore. I should be getting married. My uncles have mentioned this to me a
lot in the past two years. They chose a potential partner for me. If I don't figure out a solution, I'm afraid
that this woman will come over and get along with me. Although I won't really be forced by them to get
married, that woman will still cause trouble. I just don't want to be in a jam. If I let them know that I have
someone I like and even a child, they won't continue to worry about it."
"So you want to use me to shut your uncles' mouths?" Emily said in surprise.
Daniel said, "It's okay if you say it that way."
Emily smiled bitterly and said, "Then why don't you look for someone else? It's more suitable if you go
find someone else! If you use me, your mother may know that I exist. Wouldn't it be more troublesome
then?"
Daniel smiled slightly and said, "How can I find another woman with such a distinguished identity in
The Brent Group like you? Don't forget that my surname is Williams. Do you think my elders would
accept a normal girl as my wife? We have to be at least well-matched."
