Chapter 639
Drake glanced at Peter and ordered, "Go to the safe and bring me my phone."
"Got it," Peter replied, rattled by Debra's earlier remarks.
He hurried off, running down the hall toward the inner storage compartment.
Debra watched him leave, her expression calm but her mind calculating. As long as there was a phone on this ship, she had a chance.
Before long, Peter came rushing back, Drake's phone in hand.
Drake powered on the phone, and within seconds, notifications began lighting up the screen. Debra's instincts had been right. The incident had already made headlines across various media platforms. People were speculating about a possible terrorist attack, and the police had launched an investigation.
Peter swallowed nervously. The Lowe family had long been involved with shady business. If the authorities followed the trail back to them, it would be disastrous.
Drake smirked, "It's just two mercenaries, and they're both dead. Do you think that scares me?"
He set his phone on the table and resumed eating.
Debra leaned back. "Of course, you're not afraid. But this could still bring unwanted trouble to the Lowe family, and you might be forced to sacrifice a few of your key people to protect yourself."
She glanced pointedly at Peter, who stiffened. Her insinuation was clear. If anyone had hired the mercenaries, it was likely him. Now he'd be the one to take the fall.
Peter shuddered in fear.
Debra offered unhurriedly, "I can help you take care of it. You men will be safe."
Drake's eyes narrowed. "And how exactly do you plan to do that?"
"Simple," she replied smoothly. "Just give me a phone. I'll create a new
social media account, post a
and write up a caption saying I wasn't harmed and that the
gunshots were part of some staged drama. Everyone will believe it, and the panic will subside."
Peter, eager to save his skin, jumped in. "Sir, that sounds like a plan."
Drake shot him a silencing look. Peter immediately clamped his mouth shut.
"Fine," Drake said after a pause. "I'll give you a phone."
He signaled for Peter to fetch one, but before Peter could leave, Debra interrupted. "Wait." Drake frowned. "What else do you want?"Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
Debra shook her head. "Nothing. I just think there's no need to get another phone. This one right here will do the job just fine. I can use it to create an account and post from there."
Drake considered her words for a moment before sliding the phone toward her. "You've got ten minutes."
"Okay." Debra nodded and quickly took a selfie.
As she swiped through the phone, she noticed something interesting. The phone was clean, with barely any apps installed.
Drake warned, "Don't even think about sending any messages. This phone is monitored."
"I'm not that foolish. I just don't want Juan wasting resources looking for me." She paused before adding "Give me another five minutes. I need to download an app.
Drake said nothing but didn't stop her.
With quick, practiced fingers, Debra enabled location services on the app. Once everything was in place, she uploaded the selfie with a brief caption.
