Juan leaned in. "Who did you go to see 'Absurd World' with?"

Debra's heart pounded. "You're still clinging to that? I went with Erica. Is that a problem?"

But Juan was relentless. "I had Joe check the ticket records for every theater in Seamar City. There's no trace of you or Erica. You didn't go to any cinema. Why did you lie?" Debra's jaw dropped.

"You're insane," she managed to say. "Joe is your top secretary, and you made him dig through ticket records? You've officially lost it."

"Absurd World' wasn't a box office hit. It wasn't hard to check," Juan said, his tone serious. "Stop dodging the question. Why did you lie?"

Debra knew that he liked the film, something even Joe didn't know.

In the past, Debra's eyes had always been filled with fear and disgust when she looked at him, and he could never understand what he had done wrong.

And today, Debra mentioned the Farley family. A businessman's intuition told him that something was amiss.

As Debra remained silent, he added, "You also bought a piece of land that turned into the McKinney Group's first major commercial street. Everyone thought it was a fluke, but now I'm wondering. Did you know something the rest of us didn't?" Debra tensed as Juan moved closer to her. "What else are you hiding from me?"

Faced with Juan's relentless questioning, Debra steadied her chaotic thoughts.

She couldn't let Juan know about her rebirth. Talk of rebirth would make anyone think she was crazy.

Just as she was about to come up with an excuse, a sound from outside the cave caught her attention.

Debra's breath hitched. Juan grabbed her hand and pulled her further back into the cave.

Peering through the thick bushes the entrance, they saw two burly

Thei guns were gleaming under the faint light.

The two men weren't leaving, maybe having found their hiding spot.

But now, they couldn't go out or retreat.

Juan leaned in closer and whispered, "Feel the wind?"

Debra closed her eyes and, sure enough, she could feel a faint breeze against her skin.

It was hard to believe since they were in a cave.

Juan motioned for her to follow. They crept deeper into the cave, their movements slow and

deliberate. Soon, Juan found the

source a narrow tunnel, whet

wind was coming through. It was their only way out.

But just as they were about to slip through, the bushes at the cave's entrance rustled. "Found ya!" one of the mercenaries growled, his voice sending chills down Debra's spine. "Run!" Juan shouted, pulling Debra into the tunnel.

Gunshots rang out behind them, and Debra's heart pounded. The tunnel was long, and they didn't know when they would reach the end. The killers were laughing wildly.
