Chapter 47
Zane
I squinted my eyes open one after the other, turning to the side to meet the beautiful figure of Jasmine quietly and peacefully sleeping beside me.
The memory of the moments we had shared and the aftermath of our lovemaking washed over me, giving me a sense of safety and warmth I had never felt before.
I smiled as I rolled over towards her, pulling her closer and wrapping my arms around her half-naked body. My mind raced through what she had explained to me the day before, justifying all the doubts and fears we had about Noah.
We knew he was only trying to use Jasmine, that she was just a mere pawn in his game, but she never saw it, and she gave us no chance to make her understand it. I was glad that she had finally seen the truth for herself and had gotten to know what and who Noah was.
I nuzzled closer to her, and she opened her eyes; I guessed that woke her up. Maybe I should have just let her sleep more.
But, before I had the chance to speak, her hungry stomach let out a loud grumble, and mine followed suit, almost as if they had synchronized their protest for lack of Explanations. nourishment.
“Sorry,” she murmured, holding her stomach as she rose from the bed. “I am hungry,” she added
“I am hungry as well,” I responded.
She shook her head. “This is your fault. You could have let us eat before anything last night,” she mumbled.
“Well, I will say this is your fault,” I stated with a smile as I moved closer to her. I pulled her into my arms and said,
“We would have gotten the chance to eat if you hadn’t seduced me.”
She laughed, pushing me away playfully. “I didn’t seduce you, Zane,” she chuckled, moving back to me and cupping my face.
“It was you who ignited a spark we couldn’t control; we had to give in.”
“You are..” I was cut off by my stomach grumbling once again.Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
“I think the best choice right now is to hope we find some cereal,” Jasmine stated, hopping down from the bed as she headed to the mini kitchen.
I watched as she prepared the cereal for us. I knew my siblings would be angry that I was with her and that I left home specifically for her, but I believed that they would understand when I explained to them what happened. One thing remained: they would be angry if I left without informing them.
Jasmine returned with a bowl of cereal minutes later, and l dug in, looking up at her every so often. To keep her safe, I would have to let my siblings know what was going on so we could make plans on how to deal with Noah. I always knew he wasn’t the right one, he was just a bad person, disguising his true nature with fake humility and meek behavior.
After we were done eating, I grabbed Jasmine’s hand. “We have to leave now. I am sure he must have been looking all around for you,” I said to her, and we headed out of the safe house.
As we were about to enter the car, 1 spotted Noah from afar.
He was with two other burly men, searching around like he had lost something. I was certain he was looking for Jasmine. I knew that would happen. I pulled Jasmine to the back of the car, pretending to be occupied with something else so she wouldn’t get scared.
I ensured they had moved away before hopping into the car and driving away. After putting some distance between us and them, I slowed down and heaved a loud sigh.
I turned to Jasmine, wondering if she had noticed that something was wrong, but instead, I was met with her concerned and pensive expression. I knew she must be pondering all that was happening.
I cleared my throat, trying to shake her from her deep and contemplative thoughts. “What’s wrong, Jasmine? What are you thinking about?” I asked.
She hung her head. “I feel guilty for hurting all of you and turning my back on the truth. I should have realized that Noah was lying all along, but I was too blind to see it. I wonder if they will ever forgive me.”
I sighed, holding her hand. “Don’t worry, you don’t have to blame yourself. They will eventually forgive you. You were just a victim of Noah’s lies and deceit. All that happened wasn’t entirely your fault,” I reassured her, trying my best to give her the hope she needed
All that happened wasn’t her fault; it was Noah’s doing. He had used her against us and manipulated the situation to make us appear like the bad ones when he was the true villain in our lives.
After a long drive, we finally arrived at the pack house, where Ethan, Calix, and Mia were waiting just outside.
Their noses flared from a distance, and their eyes were filled with rage. It was expected; I knew they would be angry.
We got out of the car, and I could sense Jasmine’s reluctance. She didn’t want to go in with me, given the intimidating figures waiting at the door. I nodded at her, trying to assure her that everything would be fine once they understood.
“Just come with me,” I said to her, taking the lead.
Before I could reach the door, Calix rushed towards me, his eyes fixed on Jasmine. “What is she doing here? Why did you bring her?” He shouted.
Mia joined him, her tone harsh: “She doesn’t belong here, not with any of us!”
“Take her back to where you found her, Zane. I’m sure she doesn’t even want to be here, Calix continued.
Ethan added his voice, “You should return her. We don’t want her around us.”
“Can we all calm down and go inside first?” I pleaded,
“There’s an explanation for everything.”
“I hope you’ve got a good explanation for this.” He said before he turned on his heel and walked into the sitting room, with Mia and Calix trailing closely behind him.
I turned to Jasmine, still holding her hand. “Don’t worry; they’l understand when we explain everything to them, I assured her as we both entered the house, taking our seats beside the others.
Jasmine and I took our time to explain everything that had happened. We emphasized the need for us to be together now more than ever, especially since Noah was still actively searching for her. And it would be disastrous if we continued to fight and hold grudges.
“I think this is why I never managed to gather any concrete evidence against Noah. He’s strong, and he has more powerful backing than we think,” Mia realized through my explanation.
“I’m sure there’s something we can do to gather the evidence we need against him,” Calix suggested.
“We need to plan that out,” I agreed, turning to Jasmine.
“You and Mia should go rest while we work on finding a solution. You’ve been through a lot of stress,” I said to Jasmine, who has been relatively calm.
Jasmine’s gaze shifted slowly towards Mia, and the pain of their soured friendship was evident in her eyes.
But when Mia stretched out her arms to Jasmine, a sign of relief eluded her lips as she stood up.
“Thank you, and I am truly sorry for everything,” she murmured, taking my hand, and together they walked to the room.
As soon as they were out of sight, my brothers turned to me, casting a suspicious look at me.
“What?” I questioned
“So how come you did not tell us you were going to save our mate?” Ethan demanded.
“Well, I figured you guys were still angry, and she sounded very urgent, so I figured I should go and save her first, you know,” I explained. From the various expressions on their faces, I could tell they were not interested in that part of the story.
And you rescued her and became her hero; what happened?” demanded Ethan.
“I decided to take her somewhere, as it was already time to drive down to the pack. Plus, I figure Noah might be searching everywhere for her I explained.
“And?” Calix demanded, a sly smile hanging on his lips.
That’s all. I drove her back here this morning, and I cleared my throat.
Even though it felt weird, I sort of knew where they were driving, but I was not going to give them the pleasure of finding out from me.
“So, can you explain to us why your scent is all over her and why there are marks on her neckline?” Ethan asked.
Oh f**k!
I forgot that Jasmine and I didn’t take our bath this morning before coming to the pack house.
“Well, *clears throat*, we slept on the same bed throughout the night,” I said casually.
“And nothing happened between you two?” Demanded Calix, who by now was wearing a big grin.
But before I could reply to him, Ethan play fully jumped on me.
“You lucky bastard, you f****d her all through the night,” he said, and at that moment, I knew I couldn’t deny it any longer.
“But you guys were still angry at her,” I said in my defense while laughing wholeheartedly as they both threw light punches at me.
