Chapter 30
Gina.
I didn’t realize I had fallen asleep in the hut until I saw Denver’s wolf standing at the entrance of the hut and staring down at me.
Seeing him stand there and watch over me made me feel safe. Even though I could not exactly tell how long he had been standing there,
His gloomy expression gave the impression that something was wrong, and I wondered what could be the reason for his gloominess. It was very uncommon to see Denver sad; he must often just wear a blank expression.
I could tell something was bothering him, and I was going to ask him what the problem was before we heard Devon’s voice.
He went outside the same moment Devon’s voice rang out; it was almost as if he didn’t want his brothers to see him there. I got off the wooden bed I had laid on to go see what was happening outside. On my way out of the hut, I couldn’t help but notice the intense smell of b***d.
I looked around to see if Denver had made a kill, but I found no animal around, apart from a few b***d drops on the floor.
I went outside, and at that moment I saw Devon happily coming back with a deer. While a tiny part of me was happy that he was the one who made the first kill because I was practically rooting for him from the beginning.
But there was this larger part of me that didn’t feel all excited about his win. Nevertheless, I smiled to welcome him back as he dropped the kill at my foot before going to transform into his human form.
The three of them later came back and asked that we return to the palace after they had restated the fact that Devon would be spending the night at my place.
It was already dark when we arrived at the palace. Denver went straight to his room, while I was escorted back to my apartment with Devon and Derrick.
Derrick requested to know if I was still interested in going to the club with them, and I almost said no. But, the need to see Denver and ask what was up with him made me agree to go with them.
They went back to their various rooms to get prepared, while I also started getting ready for the outing.
I was at first indecisive about what to wear, as this would be my first time in a club. But after scouting my clothes for over thirty minutes, I finally settled on black jeans, a black tank top, a yellow gold jacket, and a pair of black sneakers.
I applied a bit of makeup and created wavy curls in my hair using a hot comb. I was pleased with my final look as I looked at myself in the mirror.
Left with nothing else to do, I went to the kitchen to see if I could get anything to munch on that wouldn’t give me any form of discomfort.
As soon as I opened the fridge, I was overwhelmed with the loads of food that I had previously stored in the fridge, so I decided to settle for cornflakes.
I took out a bowl and poured the dry, crunchy flakes into it, adding a moderate amount of milk and sugar. I sat at the dining table to start munching slowly.
My mind drifted to my parents and how they must be faring without me. I had previously asked them to come and live with me when Devon took me home to get my things.
But they had declined on the ground that they were comfortable in their home and that they would be paying me visits from time to time.
I could tell from their expression that they were not so comfortable with me being mated to the triplets, and I very well understood their plight.
Aside from the fact that I am only an omega, which is considered an abomination, they are also scared of what Gwen and her father are capable of doing to me.
They know for sure that there is no way on earth that Gwen and her father are going to let me go without a fight.
Even I have sometimes, in my quiet time, thought about the possibility of the triplets making the mistake of calling me their mate.
As much as I want to think that the prophecy may have been wrong, it doesn’t make sense that it would be. We have never had a prophecy that didn’t come to pass.
I had just finished eating when Devon walked into the kitchen.
“You look astonishing,” he said as he paused to take in my curves and my prettier face.
“Thanks,” I said to him with a smile.
“You guys never got to tell me how the hunting went down,” I said to him.
I was hoping that he could tell me why Denver was moody when he got back.
At first, I saw Devon tensed up immediately after I asked my question, but relaxed almost instantly.
“It was a very stressful hunt because all the animals seemed to have evaporated into thin air. We searched and searched, and honestly, at some point, I almost felt like giving up as Denver did. But I guess the desire to spend the night with you kept me going. And I am more than happy that my efforts paid off, and I get to sleep by your side,” he said with a boyish grin.
“Thanks, that’s so sweet to hear,” I said to him.
“Well, that’s my little way of showing how much I am ready to fight for my lady,” he said, stretching his hand across the table and softly stroking my palm.
What I was still trying to understand was why I noticed b***d on the floor before Devon arrived. Some things were just not adding up.
“Hope you didn’t scratch yourself, meanwhile you struggled with the deer before killing it?”
“Why would a deer struggle with an alpha wolf?” “Sometimes you forget that I am just as strong as my brother Denver,” he said, giving me a suspicious look that he tried hard to conceal.
Even though I didn’t understand why he always had to bring Denver into our discussion, I wondered why he would compare his strength to that of his brother.
I mean, he is an alpha wolf, and as such, he should be fierce during hunts and battles.
“Why are Derrick and Denver not here yet?” I asked him, attempting to break the sudden awkward silence between us. And also, I was beginning to be worried about what was keeping his brothers.
“They are waiting for us in the car,” he said casually, rubbing his head.
“What? Why didn’t you say so when you arrived?” I asked, looking at him surprised.
“I wanted to spend some quiet time with you,” he said calmly, holding my eyes in his.
I couldn’t help but smile at his words; it felt good hearing how he felt towards me, and expressing it to me is a different level of vibe.
“We should go and join them before they come looking for us,” I said, quickly washing the plate I had just eaten from before walking out of his house.
We had just walked out of my apartment when he pulled me in for a deep k**s. My eyes grew larger than a saucepan as his tough lips devoured my innocent lips so forcefully.
I don’t know if it was a result of my state of shock or what, but I wasn’t feeling the k**s and did not want to appear rude by pushing him off.
“What was that?” I asked him after he finally let go of my now plain-looking lips.
“I am sorry, I just wasn’t able to help myself; you look outstanding,” he said, keeping his eyes shyly on the ground.
I would be angry on a normal day, but the fact that he apologized made me use a smile to cover up my awkwardness.
We soon got to where Denver and Derrick were waiting in the car, and I noticed how Devon was stylishly cleaning his lips and adjusting his clothes.
I don’t know the impression he was trying to create, but anyone who sees him in that state would easily think that something serious went down between the both of us.
I don’t think he would want to create an impression like that, or would he?
Likewise, I soon realized that they were using just one car, which happened to be Denver’s.
Derrick was sitting in the front, while Devon and I sat in the back seat of the car.
The atmosphere in the car was a very tense one, as everyone seemed to be occupied with their thoughts.
We soon arrived at the clubhouse, and I was this close to being discouraged when I saw a very long line of people waiting outside.
But, surprisingly, the triplets came down and led me through a private door into the club.
I couldn’t help but notice how some girls were sizing me up and down out of jealousy while secretly flashing the triplet’s green light as we made our way to the VIP section.
Damn! The music was f*****g loud, I was taken to a private booth, and Derrick ordered a bottle of expensive wine and four glasses to our table.
All through, Denver was relatively quiet, but his eyes would occasionally go to the side booth directly beside us. He would look at the three beautiful blonde-haired girls who were busy flashing him their t**s and pants that their skimpy outfits barely covered with so much l**t in his eyes.
Or maybe I was just imagining things. But the slightest thought of him flirting with those girls when I am seated close to him made me jealous.© NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
On one occasion, his dark eyes met mine for some intense seconds, and it felt as if my stomach had a thousand pins attached to it.
I nervously emptied my first glass of wine in one gulp. Even though my throat was stinging from the harshness of the wine, I tried hiding that fact from everyone at the table.
Derrick filled up my glass again, and just as he was about to drop the bottle, a beautiful, chubby girl like myself walked up to our table accompanied by some cool-looking dude I assumed to be her date for the night.
“Hi everybody,” she said as soon as she got to our table.
I could tell that she was human, as was the gentleman with her; I could be wrong, though. My eyes were beginning to play funny tricks on me.
“Hey,” Derrick said awkwardly, with a smile that immediately told everyone at the table of his uneasiness.
I could be mistaken, but it felt as though there was this connection between Derrick and the girl. Maybe it’s because of the way she was looking at him; she wasn’t inappropriately dressed, she was very modest, and she looked like someone significant too.
What am I even saying—you know, I should probably take another drink from my glass. I took the glass and downed the wine, and then everything just appeared funny to me.
So, I started smiling and chuckling at every word said.
“Hi, Devon,” the gentleman said to Devon, who was pretending not to have noticed them.
“Hi,” Devon said to him, deliberately trying not to make eye contact with the hot dude.
“We saw you guys walk in, and my sister and I wanted to say hello to you all,” the gentleman said, holding his sister and pulling her away.
“She is cute,” I heard myself say as I made to take Denver’s glass, which was still filled up. But he took the glass before my hand could reach it.
So selfish.
“Excuse me, I will be right back,” Derrick said to me as he walked away.
So, I am now left with Denver and Devon.
“How about we dance?” I said to them.
“Yeah, you guys go on; I will join you,” Devon said, standing and going in the same direction that Derrick went—or was it the opposition?
Now left with Denver, I finally had the opportunity to ask him about his favorite s*x position. Oh, no! Not his s****l position, but the reason behind his gloominess. Although, it would be fun to hear him talk dirty.
“Why are you sad?” I finally asked him.
He looked at me as if wanting to know if it was the one I was talking to. His actions made me giggle as I heavily rolled my eyes.
Instead of speaking with me, he stood up and walked away, and I wouldn’t have read anything if not for the fact that the three bitches who were previously flaunting themselves around him were no longer in their seats.
So, the possible thought of him going to meet them made me sad for a while. Well, until a really fine, heavily tattooed biker dude came to join me at the booth.
“You look like you need some company,” he said in a deep, smoked voice.
I was yet to reply to him when Denver appeared from nowhere and gave a cold stare at the gentleman I was yet to get of the name.
The gentleman backed off, but not without blowing me a k**s, which irked Denver as he threw a hot punch across the gentleman’s face.
B***d oozed from the man’s nose, and before he would punch the man again, he was restrained by Derrick and Devon, who took over by severely punching the man.
“Let’s go,” Denver said to me, as he pulled me by my hand and dragged my tipsy self out of the club.
We soon got to the car, and he opened the back door for me to sit. I sat down, hoping that we were going to wait for his brothers. But instead, he turned on the ignition of the car and zoomed off.
