Chapter Thirteen
Austin couldn’t eat his sandwich peacefully earlier that day, the thought of Jade and his brother kept hunting him. He hasn’t been able to get along with Jade, talkless of his brother coming into the picture. He thought of everything but couldn’t find the perfect excuse to avoid the situation, now he found himself going somewhere with Allen and Jade.
“How far off is it,” Allen asked, already looking tired and panting. They met at the school gate 30 minutes after the closing period, that way they were sure everyone had left the school premises.
“Just ahead” Jade pointed out.
“You’ve been saying that since he has been asking” Austin barked at him. He had been frustrated since they began on this little journey, no one said anything to each other, just Allen asking if they were there yet or not.
“Take it easy,” Allen urged his brother to stop. Jade smiled, knowing Austin was feigning anger, and decided to go along with him.
“So you are the captain of the football team?”
“Hey!” Allen yelled. Jade had no idea he was talking to him and was just moving forward. He stopped abruptly after Allen nudged him
“Yeah, yeah I am”
Allen smiled and reach his hands into his pockets, walking slowly beside him. “You should watch out ”
Jade’s eyebrow raised ” and that’s supposed to mean?” He said, dragging the last word.
“Nothing in special, I’m a deadly striker and we all know who is always favored to be a captain”
“I wouldn’t be threatened by you, seeing as your brother is also excellent in football” his tone, sounding sarcastic.
Allen stole a gaze at Austin and he was met with Austin’s hand up wide in the air as if to vindicate himself for not being good at football.
“Well…”
“We are here” Jade interrupted Allen as he was about to speak. They came to an Abandoned Factory that smelled like death, the Iron wire mounted up to serve as a wall against the outside world was already useless. Jade leaned sideways and they bent beneath while going in. Austin looked around, his legs shivering. Fear was beginning to creep in and he struggled to keep himself from showing it. Unfortunately, Allen noticed and placed a hand on him
“Are you okay?”
He removed his brother’s hand and nodded. Allen didn’t look convinced but Austin left him there and followed Jade as he walked in majestically, like it was his home. Gracing every step of his with his pride and Austin found it weird that someone would take joy in being Irresponsible.
“Hey! Jade shouted.
Austin couldn’t understand who he was calling out to because they were facing just darkness. They couldn’t see what was beyond it or anything, no lights. Two men slowly walked out, one with a cigarette and his eyes looking like they were going to pluck out any second. They were blood-filled, his chiseled face and his moustache covering his mouth. The other was shorter than the first but had an eye patch, seemed like he was blind or it was just a style. He couldn’t tell.
“Who are they?” The man with the cigarette asked in his hoarse voice. It was obvious he wasn’t happy to see them. The mean look on his face alone almost had Austin wetting his pants. He shouldn’t have followed them, let alone bring his brother along.
“We were just leaving ” Austin mouthed with a shaky voice as he quickly turned attempting to run away but his brother stopped him.
“We just came to get weed” Allen looked straight at them, no fear evident in his voice. But the short man with a patch brought out a small knife from his pocket and held it. Their presence didn’t make them comfortable one bit, no one needed to tell him this.
“He asked you a question: who are they? ” the eye-patched man repeated looking at Jade as his voice thundered, flipping his knife.
“We Just need the weed man, we don’t want any trouble” Jade pleaded.
The man with the cigarette asked for the money and Jade handed it over to them. They stood there hoping to get the weed and leave but were shocked by the reply they got.
“You guys can go, there’s no weed for today”
“Then we’ll need our money back” Allen protested, standing tall against the eye-patched man who wanted to rip them off. Austin stood where he was tugging at Jade for them to get out of there or at least for Allen to let the money go. He ended up yelling Allen’s name and They ran out of there without no one chasing them.
They were outside the abandoned building trying to catch their breath when Allen picked up Austin and blamed him for leaving there with no weed.
“If you weren’t such a pussy, we would have surely gotten our weed” Allen barked at him.
“Excuse me?” He replied between his breathe
“You heard me, you are a pussy” Allen repeated and pushed Austin. He couldn’t believe his brother would come at him for this and he pushed him back
“I was looking out for us, can’t you see he was about to stab us?”
“It was obvious he was bluffing, even Jade knew that”
“Is that right Jade?” Austin asked him with sarcasm in his tone”
Jade gestured that he didn’t want to be part of their arguments.
“Hell No!” Allen went over to Jade and blocked him from leaving “how sure are we you didn’t set this up, I’m pretty sure you planned to dupe us of that money”
“Nah, boy watch yourself ” Jade replied him grinning.
“Or else what? Try some funny thing and I’ll beat you to a pulp, I assure you of that” Allen moved a step closer to Jade, breathing hard and fuming with anger.
Austin stood and watched those two guys go toe to toe, threatening each other but no one was throwing punches. He was sure something would be said soon and he didn’t want his brother getting to find out he just asked Jade to help.
“Hey guys stop it” he interrupted them as he went in between them and separated them with his hands ” let’s go home man. All these arguments aren’t worth it. We can’t get the money back”
“Sure, you aren’t the one who wants to get high” Allen wiped his face. Austin could feel he was devastated by the thought of him not getting that weed. He went over and held his brother by his arm.

He saw Allen’s face brighten up quickly
“For real?”
“Yeah man”
Jason had lied to him about not knowing about any weed plug. He knew that after he saw a sachet of weed wrapped up in his bag after school. He asked only Jason about it and he was the only one he knew could do that.
“Well, why then did we come here?” Allen asked him with a low tone. Austin could tell his brother was getting suspicious again
