Chapter 31 I Was Serious
When it came to divorce, Joe looked gloomy.
“Stop talking about it, Mia.” He put one hand in his pocket and stood still, with only certainty in his eyes. “I don’t believe that you will really marry David.”
Mia loved him so much in the past. How could she fall in love with David so soon and even marry him?
Mia gradually stopped smiling and looked straight at Joe with her dark eyes. “It’s been five years. Why do you think I’m stupid enough to love you who don’t care about me at all? Mr. Smith, Your conceit also requires a limit.”
Joe walked up to Mia step by step with a gloomy face and reached out to pinch her chin. “Mia, Limit? Will David give you 200 million dollars in three years?”
The sarcasm in his eyes hurt Mia. She calmly pushed away his fingers one by one and did not retreat at all. “Joe, I don’t owe you anything.”
When she was with him, she gave his all her love without reservation, and even after she left…
It was Joe who chose to give up on her love. She didn’t do anything wrong.
“Is that so?” Joe laughed coldly. “I’d like to see if the Johnson Family dares to let you be their family member, Mia.”
Mia didn’t say anything more, picked up the document on the table, and walked out quickly.
Watching her leave, Joe once again felt that something was out of his control.
Joe took out a cigarette, lit it, and then called Jack.
Back at the apartment, Mia found that David came, sitting in the living room with a gloomy face and cigarette butts all over the floor.
Mia raised her eyebrows. Since David knew that she didn’t like the smell of cigarettes, he had never smoked in front of her.
Now…
“You know?” She sighed slightly. “It happened so suddenly today. I…”
Before she could finish her words, David reached out and hugged her.
Mia stiffened and hesitated for a long time but still couldn’t push him away.
The mellow smell of tobacco filled her nose in an instant. David suppressed the cruelty in his voice and said, “I’ve checked. Zack, that bastard, took the money and targeted you on purpose this time. Don’t worry. He won’t have another chance in the future.”
Mia had already guessed this, withdrew from David’s arms, and said seriously, “Do you know that this is a society ruled by law?” This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.
David was stunned, raised his eyebrows, and said, “Are you concerned about me?”
Mia glared at him grumpily. “If you talk nonsense again, go back quickly.”
It was not easy for David to get a hug. How could he dare to talk nonsense again?
He quickly straightened his expression and said, “Don’t worry. I don’t need to deal with Zack. He has a lot of enemies. As long as some rumors are spread, many people will deal with him.”
Mia also knew that although David looked careless, he actually had his own principles, so she nodded.
Mia noticed that the apartment was particularly quiet, so she looked at David and asked, “Where are Ben and Anna?”
David rubbed his nose and said, “After receiving the news, I was worried that you were not in a good state, so I sent them to the Johnson’s Mansion.”
“The Johnson’s Mansion?”
Mia was a little surprised. Although Mrs. Lucky Johnson occasionally took Ben and Anna to the resort villa when they were abroad, Mr. Goergie Johnson was not around at that time.
Now Mr. Goergic Johnson had clearly expressed his dislike for her. If she was involved too much, she was afraid that he would become more unhappy.
However, David waved his hand and said, “Didn’t you see how my mom treated Ben and Anna? If my dad dares to say no, I’m afraid he will sleep on the road today.”
Although Mia did not believe what David said, she knew that his parents had a good relationship from his description. She felt a little envious.
She didn’t know if it was a coincidence that none of the people around her had a good marriage. She also felt happy to hear such a harmonious couple’s life.
Before leaving, David looked into Mia’s eyes seriously and said, “I used to be an idiot, but I have never done anything idiot since I met you. I won’t force you and just hope that you can consider me seriously.”
