Chapter 2264

Estelle paused and then burst into laughter.

Coco flapped her wings and chirped, "Who's that? Come join me in my dish!"

Estelle tapped her on the head, "Quiet down, that's Sylvia. Remember her name."

Coco cocked her head, eyeing Sylvia with a curious gaze before suddenly chirping loudly again, "Sylvia, Sylvia!"

Estelle tapped her again, "Remembering is good, but keep it down, will you?"

She turned to Sylvia, "She loves to make a racket. Give it some time, and you'll see just how chatty she can get!"

"It's okay, she's quite adorable!" Sylvia said warmly, "Imagine grilling her over a fire, sprinkling some chili powder on top. Must be delicious!" Coco's eyes widened in shock, her body stiffened, and she almost fell off her perch.

Estelle and Sylvia couldn't help but laugh.

Dinner was still a joyful affair even without the lively Magdalen. This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.

After dinner, Old Mr. Jarvis suggested Sylvia head to bed early to get used to the place, hoping it would help her avoid a restless night. The room was warm, and after taking a shower and changing into her pajamas, Sylvia lay in bed but could hear footsteps in the hallway outside. The window was half open, so the sounds were clear.

The footsteps stopped next door, followed by the soft sound of a door opening, then silence.

Reflecting on the day, Sylvia found it incredible that she had ended up staying with the Jarvis family, right next to his room, after pondering her work plans with a client in the morning.

Unlike the city's hustle, it was peaceful here. The light from the hallway filtered through the window, casting soft shadows of the carved flowers and birds on the wooden shutters onto the floor, creating a calming effect.

Despite the comfort enveloping her, Sylvia found herself tossing and turning, unable to sleep.

Glancing at the clock, it was past ten at night.

Restless, she got up, tied her hair back, grabbed a cloak from the stool, and stepped outside her room.

There stood a tall figure in the corridor, bathed in the soft glow of the red lantern light. Gabriel turned, his gaze meeting Sylvia's.

Her hair was casually tied back, and

she wore an ivory cloak embroidered with red plum blossoms. Her makeup-free face was pale and soft, her natural beauty enhanced by her simple attire.

Gabriel's gaze was deep as the night, his features strong and handsome. He spoke in a low voice, "Can't sleep?"

Sylvia countered, "What about you?"

Gabriel gave a slight smirk and turned back to the night view of the garden.

The Jarvis estate was divided into Sunrise Villa and Sunset Villa, with a vast garden separating them. Estelle and Jonathan resided in Sunrise Villa, while Gabriel was in Sunset Villa.

Sunset Villa lacked the intricate

corridors and pavilions of its

counterpart, offering instead a more open and majestic view. Yet, at night, with the winding lights and

shifting shades, it took on a tranquil

beauty.

Silently, Sylvia and Gabriel stood apart, leaning against the railing, their eyes taking in the garden, the rooftops, and the distant mountains...

Their gaze was on the scenery, but their thoughts were on each other.

A bird's call broke the silence, fluttering through the heart and stirring ripples of emotion. As the night deepened and the bird's song faded, silence returned, and the darkness seemed to deepen.

After a while, the distant sound of a bell from a mountain temple signaled the end of the day and the beginning of another.

Gabriel looked back and said softly, "It's cold, you should head back inside."

With a gentle nod, Sylvia turned and walked back to her room.

Pausing for a moment before entering, she finally stepped inside.
