Chapter 794 Weak Sense Of Direction
However, Tobias disagreed with her when he heard her. Mercilessly, he had said, “Your sense of direction is weak, so you're not suitable to drive. Also, don't you have a chauffeur? Why would you need to drive? It's tiring to drive. You need to focus all the time. Women drivers are frightening, especially women like you.”
Skylar did not discuss her salary with the director, as that was her manager's job. Nonetheless, she could give an estimation of its amount.
The movie had been a flop, and the production crew of the show would certainly have to weigh the pros and cons in considering her for the role. Thus, they would give her the lowest possible offer so that they would minimize their risk.
Penelope only told Skylar after the latter's audition that she did not manage to book the return tickets.
Skylar was speechless, wondering, Does Penelope not know that tickets have to be bought earlier? It's not the peak month yet, so there aren't lots of tickets available. Is she seriously telling me that there aren't tickets right before our departure? At the end of the day, I can only blame myself for this. I was so preoccupied with in searching for Tobias that I didn't pay attention to my own matters. If I told Penelope about it earlier, this wouldn't have happened.
Skylar had plans to attend the Golden Gala the next day, which meant she had to return by the following afternoon at the latest in order to make it to the event. Hence, she requested Penelope to arrange return tickets for her, with no concern for the specific flight time as long as it was on the same day.
However, Penelope just told her that there were no tickets available. The only way back now was to drive back, though the journey would be long.
Left without an option, Skylar called Tobias to ask for his help. She was not familiar with the place, so how was she going to find a car to drive back? This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
Meanwhile, as Tobias took off his golf glove, he looked at his phone. When he realized Skylar was the one calling him, he went indoors before picking up the call. He needed a quiet place to listen to her, as she always spoke softly.
The second Tobias accepted the call, Skylar cried out, “What do I do? I didn't manage to buy the return tickets, but I have to go back by tomorrow. I even lost my identity card. Will I be able to get a replacement here? How long will it take?”
This silly girl! Tobias thought in exasperation. As if he was teaching a child, he patiently told Skylar what she should do next.
“You left your identity card in the hotel room you were in yesterday. I've asked Susan to put it in a noticeable spot. I'll send the chauffeur for you now. This way, you'll be able to make it back in time.”
Skylar hesitated. “But... But will I still see you? I don't even know where you are even though I'm going back.”
Tobias chuckled before gently saying, “Didn't we just meet last night? It hasn't been long since then, so it's fine. I'm at the golf course. Do you want to come?”
Without a doubt, Skylar was not interested. The rich often played golf, but only a handful were actually interested in the game. Most were only there for business talks.
Therefore, she rejected his invitation, intending to head straight back to the hotel.
As Tobias reminded her to stay safe, a small smile grew on his lips. He did not even notice it.
When Oscar saw Tobias on the phone, he said to the young and pretty secretary beside him, “Mr. Ford must be in a relationship. Look at how soft he has become. I heard that he was engaged a while ago and was about to marry when he broke off the engagement for another woman. I wonder if he's still dating that other woman.”
The secretary smiled and said, “I've heard a little about this too, and it seems real. I never thought Mr. Ford would be the kind to fall hard for another.”
Oscar profoundly said, “No men are faithful. It only seems like it at the start. Do you really expect someone like Tobias to stick to one person forever? I saw how you were looking at Tobias earlier. You were staring.”
In response, the secretary bashfully lowered her head. She could not deny that Tobias possessed a mature charm that had captured her heart.
A man like him was someone she could only admire from a distance. If she were to truly fall in love with him, she knew she would never be able to love anyone else.
The secretary pondered about the caliber of a woman who could stand on equal footing with Tobias. She was convinced that such a woman would need to possess elegance and be a suitable match for him.
