Chapter 738 Let Us Go Home
As for the specific amount, Tobias felt that he did not need to go into such detail with Skylar.
Soon, Tobias arrived at Harbourside. The night breeze was chilly, and as it hit him right in the face, even his breath condensed into clouds of white fog in the air.
Sitting down on the stone steps, he lifted his eyes. He cast his gaze at Skylar, who was standing by the window and had also spotted him.
She waved frantically as though afraid he would not see her.
In truth, he was very much earlier though she had told him to come an hour later.
As her boyfriend, it went without saying that he should go upstairs and greet her family. However, he merely sat on the stone steps downstairs and smoked.
She did not blame him for it since it was a matter of reciprocity. Choosing to be a coward that year, she had decided not to visit the Fords.
It was understandable that he did not head upstairs as he was averse to her family.
He was not acting high and mighty, looking down on them for being poor, but he found it annoying.
Skylar whispered into Miranda's ear, “I'll be leaving first, Mom. Tobias is here to pick me up. Besides, I have to attend the promotional event for my new movie's premiere tomorrow, so I can't stay too late.”
Every time Miranda heard Tobias' name, she would be exceedingly careful, afraid that she would do something to displease him.
In reality, everything she did infuriated the man.
“Why don't you ask him to come up for a visit and have some hot chocolate? Are you not going to continue the tradition of drinking hot chocolate at midnight? We should have it as a family during Christmas, with everyone gathered together. Then, the following year will be a blessed year.” Miranda did not want to allow Skylar to leave, for their relatives were already preparing hot chocolate in the kitchen.
Knowing that Skylar loved cinnamon hot chocolate the most, she even took out some cinnamon sticks from the cupboard when they were preparing the ingredients in the kitchen, planning to make some cinnamon hot chocolate for Skylar separately.
Unfortunately, her sister-in-law, Sharon, objected, claiming that Eva was allergic to cinnamon down to the smell of it.
For the sake of her younger brother, Miranda did not argue with her despite having seen Eva eating half a slice of pumpkin pie.
Eva could not possibly be allergic to cinnamon. In other words, Sharon was blatantly lying.
It was clear as day that she was petty and did not want Miranda to make a special hot chocolate for Skylar alone.
Meanwhile, Skylar had already grabbed her bag. Eva, who sat on the couch munching on chips, walked over to the window. Sure enough, she caught sight of her employer downstairs.
Ford Group is considered a gigantic business with tens of millions of employees in the entire country. Yet, its CEO, who holds leadership over them all, is so free to brave the biting wind and wait for his woman downstairs. What a pity that I don't even get a chance to draw close to him when I've been working by his side for so long!
Skylar rushed downstairs. Immediately, Tobias' figure in the darkness entered her line of sight. His tall and broad silhouette made her feel as though he was the warmth she sought during winter.
Throwing herself into his arms, she lifted her eyes and gazed at him lovingly. “You were also the one who came to pick me up last year. And now, a year has passed,” she murmured. Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
Tobias had already forgotten the events that transpired last year. Well, she's right. Time really flies. In the blink of an eye, we've already been together for such a long time.
At first, he did not bother keeping track of the time he dated her. After all, he only took an interest in her out of a sense of novelty, finding her very much like a porcupine with sharp quills all over her.
Gradually, he found a sense of belonging with her. At the very least, he knew he had a safe harbor that would leave a light burning for him every night.
Nonetheless, that was a bit of a delusion, for Skylar went on business trips even more than he did. As such, the light at their home was often turned off.
Tobias kissed Skylar on the forehead, his lips cold from the bitter wind and icy air.
“Let's go home.”
