No, I won’t let go.
Nathan sat there at the door without realizing when he fell asleep. He was determined to wait for Demelza until she was ready to come out and see him. While he remained there, Demelza cried her eyes out. She wished she had listened to her parents when they told her not to move to his place. Now she feels stupid for not listening to them. Returning home was definitely not an option so no matter how many times it crossed her mind, she pushed it away.
After staying there all day, she decided to go get water because she felt very thirsty from all the crying.
Upon opening the door, she was surprised to see Nathan fall in. She stood there really surprised as she patiently waited for him to explain himself.
“Demelza, please listen. I really do not like the fact that you would not even listen.” He pleaded in frustration but it all fell on deaf ears as she walked past him without looking back,
“Demelza, what the fuck? I mean, what in the actual fuck is this?” Nathan raised his voice losing his cool. He felt really annoyed with the attitude she was serving and the fact that she wasn’t willing to listen to any word she had to say.
He knew the whole situation was messed up but he wished she would stop wasting her emotions over nothing.
When she got to the kitchen, she took a chilled bottle of water out of the fridge and drank before responding to him. “Are you really asking me that stupid question? If you were in my shoes I am sure you would have done more so, please.” She paused as she moved closer to him and looked at him straight in the eyes “do not tell me how to react to this fucked up situation.” She warned and turned to leave but he grabbed her by the hand to stop her from leaving.
“Leave me alone, Nathan.” Demelza struggled to take her hand back from him but his grip was firm on her.
“No, I won’t let you go, Mel, not after I have you. Nothing will come in-between us.” Nathan resounded how much he was not going to let her go.
“You sure are a big joker man.” She laughed out loud after saying that.
“That’s what you call me now? Man?” he asked her in disbelief of what he heard her say.
“Like it or not, I am not letting you go alright.” He resounded to her.
“Your problem, now let me go.” She insisted and struggled to get her arm back but Nathan held onto it really well.
He pulled her closer to himself and placed a deep kiss on her lips which she returned but she gave him a very dirty slap when she realized it and walked out of the kitchen.
Nathan held his cheek for a few seconds smiling at how feisty she had become. Leaving her for a while hardened her up a bit but he wasn’t sure he liked it.
He followed her to the room and almost got hit by the slammed door. He opened it and walked into the room. “You seem to be doing a lot of slamming but you can keep at it if that would make you feel better.” He started and Demelza rolled her eyes.
“And if I don’t?” She questioned.
“You do not have a choice.” He responded and she smiled.
“I and Silver had our fun but it was always just drinks and foreplay. It was never sex.”
“I see; foreplay makes people pregnant I see.” Demelza snorted.
“We had se just one time, I was really drunk and we were not talking at the time.” Nathan concluded.
“So am I supposed to hear all of this trash and act like nothing happened between you and Silver? I should act like there is nothing growing in her stomach right now? It is your baby Nathan, you baby. It will always be in our lives and she will always be a pest. I cannot handle that alright. I really can’t.” Demelza broke down in tears after saying that.
Nathan hated how the whole situation made her feel and he didn’t know how best to help her feel better. He moved close to her and held her in a tight hug hoping that would provide enough confirmation that she needed at the moment.
“Leave me alone Nathan, I don’t want you touching me right now.” She tried pushing him away but he wouldn’t let her. She cried so hard that he just held her so close to him. He didn’t stop her from crying if that was what it was going to take for her to feel better.
Slowly their bodies were on the floor and she was in his arms like a baby in its mother’s arms.
Without realizing it, they both fell asleep on the door but soon were woken up by a very loud bang on the door. “Not again.” Nathan groaned as he rubbed his forehead trying to ease how he felt from the sudden sound.
The banging continued and he instantly knew who it was. “That bitch.” He cursed under his breath and gently paced Demelza head down while he stood up. He hated that Silver had so much trouble and it wasn’t making him feel good at all.
He went to open the door and like usual, she barged in. “Nice to see you still look cute in your morning face.” Silver teased but Nathan did not find it funny at all.
“don’t you get tired? How do you do these things?” Nathan asked her, feeling really irritated.
“Tired? Nah. I can’t feel tired. I have your baby growing in me, so why should I? Besides, pregnancy comes with a lot of hormones. “Silver sounded really annoying to Nathan but there was nothing much he could do to her.
He stood there watching her and he wished he could reverse time. “Of all people to get pregnant for me, it had to be you Silver? You?” he paused “What was I thinking being so stupid.” At this point, Nathan really hated himself. He had to manage this situation really well because he knew that Silver could go to the extreme if he doesn’t act fast.
“I better head to our room”
Nathan turned to look at where she was headed and he dashed towards her and pulled her back. “Where do you think you are going to? Your room? You must be mad. Those hormones must be driving you nuts.”
“Why are you being so mean to me?”
“You refused to behave like an educated person, instead you chose to act like you cannot see that I am in love with someone. I do not want to be with you, Silver. Please stop acting like you do not see that. Do you think you can trap me by getting pregnant?”
“You think I decided to get pregnant just to trap you? You must be dreaming though. I didn’t do it to trap you alright, it just happened so please get over it alright.”
Nathan stood there watching her be so dramatic but his problem was Demelza. He didn’t want her hearing all of these, it would only infuriate her more.
“Are you feeling this way because of her?” Silver asked, pointing behind Nathan. He turned around to see Demelza standing in tears, which made him feel sad. He felt torn between both women, which left him feeling confused. If Silver is really carrying his child, as she claims, Nathan knows he has to take responsibility for the child and do the right thing.
“Thank God she’s here, she came at the right time. I wouldn’t have talked twice again,” she thought to herself.
“I’ve come to stay, and no one will throw me out,” she declared boldly.
“Stay? You can’t stay, please leave. Go back to your house and just leave us in peace,” Nathan urged her. Having her here only meant losing Demelza, and he couldn’t deal with that.
“I will stay Nathan, whether you like it or not. You do not even have a choice. Except you want me telling the public how we had a nice time frolicking.” Silver threatened Nathan who didn’t take it well.
I mean, the public will be so elated to know your family has a woman in your life only that the child will be illegitimate. Would you want that?” Silver added and all Nathan could do was give her a death stare.
“Fine then, you dont have to go that far alright. Calm down okay. You can stay, while I figure something out.” Nathan concluded. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
“If she stays, I leave.” Demelza declared and walked back into the bedroom.
Nathan was torn in-between the two women and his reputation.
He could not risk his reputation being tarnished nor could he lose his girlfriend. He had to think really fast.
