Linda's fingers clenched tight, her nails digging into her palm to steady her nerves.

"Do you think Chloe loves you? She's still hung up on Lucas. Three years ago, she tried to kill herself over him. She's just using you now. Are you really okay being just a pawn in their love drama?

"Mr. Connor, you're the King of Eldridge. Chloe's only interested in your status. She's using you, plain and simple. Maybe she's trying to make Lucas jealous or trying to get back at him?"

Linda couldn't believe Chloe and Connor had something real going on. They barely knew each other.

Logically, Linda should be happy about Chloe and Connor being together—which meant there was less chance of Chloe and Lucas getting back together. But she was worried that, given time, their act could turn into something real. Connor would definitely be harder to deal with than Lucas.
