Dear Ex-wife Marry Me

Chapter 1802

Chapter 1802

Nathan couldn't help but feel a twinge of envy towards Felix, but had to admit that the guy had some serious chops.

Especially when it came to negotiations - he had a presence that could go toe-to-toe with President Miller himself.

He remembered the time Felix was gambling like his life depended on it. Back then, it was to pay for Listina's medical bills. Felix tried everything under the sun, and somehow, he always managed to come out on top.

Now, overseeing the vast empire of the Miller Group, Felix was still in his element. Despite the workload, he had everything running like a well-oiled machine.

At the thought of this, Nathan's spirits fell a notch. Carol didn't just fancy Felix for no reason. Unlike himself, who was fairly competent, but that was just among regular Joes.

"Nathan, if Carol ever asks you something, don’t spill the beans, okay?"

Nathan was puzzled. What would Carol ask him about?

"I'm gonna come by later and pack up the gifts I gave Fiona. I'll get her something better."

Nathan had suspected those gifts were from Carol. Now Carol was here and Felix was coming over tonight?

A wave of guilt washed over him, "What time you think you'll swing by?"

"Around midnight. Got meetings till then."

Nathan breathed a sigh of relief, "Alright, I'll box up the stuff. You planning on returning them to Ms. Miller? No offense, but I think it's good that you're keeping it strictly business with her. Felix, Listina's been waiting for you. Don't let her down; otherwise, your folks would be disappointed." This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.

When Felix's mom had taken that tragic leap, she'd made Felix promise to take care of Listina, to make her happy. It was like the Brown family owed a debt to the Geo family.

Felix was paying off that debt, and he did it without any regrets because he cared for Listina. He'd always thought they'd end up married. But now, Nathan's words stung, as if Felix's feelings had shifted.

Nathan probed further, "The wedding in two weeks, you really going through with it? What if Listina does something rash? Felix, you don't love Carol. Maybe it's just because she was your first, and you've mistaken that for love. Anyway, you better think it over. You've known Listina for years, but Carol? Just a short while."

Felix was silent on the other end.

Nathan wasn't sure if he was genuinely concerned for Listina or if he just didn't want Felix and Carol together. Maybe it was a bit of both, but he’d said his piece.

Hanging up, he turned to Carol who was sitting on the couch, head slightly tilted, idly flipping through a book on the coffee table.

It was Fiona's storybook, and Carol was chatting with her. Fiona looked delighted; seemed that she liked Carol.

Carol smiled to her, eyes crinkling with joy, which hit Nathan like a moonbeam suddenly illuminating him.

He gripped the spatula tightly, a decision forming in his heart.

Two hours later, dinner was ready. Usually, when he ate with his sister, they'd make do with the coffee table, never bothering with the folding dining table.

But today, he meticulously set it up, even sanitized it, and cleaned off some long-unused stools before inviting Carol, "Ms. Miller, dinner's ready."

Carol had barely stepped foot in the kitchen except for the times she'd cooked with Felix, so she expected Nathan to serve up the meal.

Fiona, a bit shy, didn't talk much to strangers, but she liked Carol enough to encourage her, "Carol, my brother's a great cook. You should try some more."

Carol held no ill will towards the little girl. She picked up her fork and tried a shrimp. She preferred jumbo shrimp, but Nathan's were just regular prawns. Still, thanks to Nathan's skill, she enjoyed a few.

Recently, she hadn't had much of an appetite and had lost weight.

To her own surprise, she finished two bowls of rice, "Who taught you to cook?"

Nathan blushed slightly, "Worked a stint as a chef back in the day. Later figured that gig wasn’t for me, so I moved on to corporate life."

Eager to impress Carol, he quickly added, "Plus, Felix picked up a thing or two from me when Listina was being picky. He's not half bad himself."

No wonder she recognized something familiar in the taste.
