Contract Marriage With The Disabled CEO Chapter 158

Chapter 158

Chapter 158 Childhood Memory

The moment she walked out of the Watson

villa, Betty suddenly felt very lost.

So this was the closure…

From this day on, she did not owe Roger anymore, she did not owe the Watsons anymore. And whatever the Watsons had done to her did not matter anymore either.

From now on, all she had was but her

mother.

Technically, it was not totally true.

She still had Kerwin.

At the thought of that, she suddenly felt all

warm and strong.

After she left the Watson villa, Kerwin took

Betty in the car and let Peter drive them

home.

On the way, Betty either was lost in her

thoughts or kept her head low with red-rimmed eyes.

Kerwin thought he should give Betty the time

to let it all out.

She was exhausted. With all these bad

memories coming back in one day, only a strong-willed mind would be able to take all

of it.

In the face of the bombardment from the

Watsons, the heart of the frail-looking Betty

must have been broken into millions of

pieces. Only God knew how sad she must be!

Kerwin pulled her into his arms and

whispered, “It’s OK if you want to cry.”

In Kerwin’s warm and strong arms, Betty felt

as if she had found a bonfire, warm enough

to keep her from any cold sarcasm and sharp

criticism.

Betty whimpered in his arms, releasing all her grievances from since she was a child. Before Kerwin, she didn’t have to pretend and put up a front. All she needed was to have a good cry and vent all her sadness.

After all these years of entanglements, Betty

finally drew the line with the Watsons once and for all. With all the childhood bullying, curse hurling, and torturing, and all the shaming and name calling after she grew up, Betty wondered what a life she had had!

However, everything was fine now. She could finally rid herself of the Watsons for good! Betty felt the sudden relief. She marveled at the weight of the burden she had carried with herself for all these years.

Kerwin wrapped Betty in his arms quietly.

After she had wept her fill, Kerwin lowered

his eyes at her, “Do you feel better now?”

Betty nodded her head.

“Are you willing to tell me about your past? I’m all ears. It also helps.”

Kerwin gently kissed her on the cheek.

Betty dried her eyes and started to tell Kerwin about her childhood misery.

Betty told him, “When I was a little kid, the Watsons said one day that they’d take me

with them for a trip to the seaside. I was exhilarated. I had never seen the sea. I had

only read from the books that the sea was

blue. That the stretch of the coastline went all the way to the other side of the earth. Breathtaking.”

Kerwin scooched a little closer to Betty and let her lie down and rest her head on his lap, so she could feel more comfortable. “Kerwin, I love the sea. It gives me a sense of security. We went to Mauritius that time, it was a romantic place, which I had waited for so long. Mom was so busy so she was actually in favor of me going on a trip together with them. We actually had fun as a family at the seaside. The sea was beautiful. I threw all my sorrows and worries in the cool sea breeze. However, Emily’s barbie doll suddenly fell into a crack of a stone. And she stomped and

cried about getting it out.” NôvelDrama.Org © content.

Speaking of which, Betty couldn’t help

heaving a sigh. What had happened next was

not that beautiful.

“I still don’t know if Emily’s barbie doll had

really fallen into the crack or she had done it just to frame me, because I swear I saw the smile on her face when the doll fell into the crack. Emily cried and screamed. Daisy got anxious, so she ordered me to climb down

the crack. She said I was small and only me could go there and get the doll.”

Betty closed her eyes slightly. At the recollection of that experience, she still felt

so sad.

“I was scared. That was the first time in my life I was that close to the sea. There were so many rocks, overgrown with pointy shells and slippery seaweeds. But still, I climbed in. God knew how hard I had tried to reach for

that doll and get it. I scraped my arms and legs on the rocks and shells. Do you see the

scars left?”

Kerwin had noticed these ugly scars before.

He had thought that she had gotten them. because of childhood naughtiness. The true

story was unexpected to him.

Betty continued woefully, “My wounds had

been soaked in seawater and hurt so bad, but Daisy and Emily took a cab and left me,

saying Dad was waiting for them for dinner. So I had to walk back alone in the cold wind.”

Betty remembered that she had gone a long way, hungry and exhausted, her wounds hurting so bad.

By the time she had been back, they had finished dinner and left nothing for her. So she had been starved for the whole night.

That night, she had missed her mother.

However, when they got back and Sherry asked her if she had had fun, Betty had been afraid that her mother would be upset and angered by the truth, so she told her she had

had fun.

Kerwin lowered his eyes at Betty, with a

piteous look in them.

He wanted to say something to console Betty,

but he was never good at words, so he just held her tight in his arms quietly.

Betty sighed after finishing her story and said in a low voice, “Do you regret letting the Watsons off the hook?”

“You want to hear the truth?” Kerwin

whispered, with a hint of anger in his voice, “I do. I would have made sure they get the punishment they deserve if I had known they were like that to you in the past.”

Betty was afraid Kerwin would make another move at the Watsons because of the ancient story, so she hurried to add, “But you’ve promised me. A promise is a promise.”

Kerwin took a hesitant look at Betty, but

nodded his head at last, “You rest assured. I

keep my promises.’

Betty felt relieved, when Kerwin suddenly

pulled her in his arms.

“Betty, nobody will bully you ever because I

will always be with you in the future.”

In Kerwin’s warm and strong arms with her head against his chest, Betty heard his deep magnetic voice say.

“What you’ve lost in your childhood, I’ll fill it up for you.”

Betty couldn’t help laughing, “I don’t need

your compensation. I’m already extremely happy.”

Kerwin didn’t say a word, only caressing her

soft hair silently.

After returning to the villa, Betty ate and took a shower, then she went to bed.

After the closure with the Watson family, Betty felt as if she had a new life. She slept very tight that night.

Betty went to bed very early, while Kerwin

was still busy in his study.

Peter made sure that everything Kerwin had

told him to do was settled and was ready to

leave, when Kerwin suddenly asked him,

“Right, how is the preparation for the press

conference?”

“Everything is ready,” Peter nodded his

head.

Kerwin nodded, “Make sure everything tomorrow is ready to perfection.”

Peter nodded yes and left the villa.
