Chapter 138
Mara
I was losing my mind, my thoughts racing with anxiety as I sat on the couch, staring blankly at the wall. I had just discovered I was pregnant, which was what I had wanted, but now I was faced with a new problem. It was like my life was against my own happiness.
1 had always dreamed of being pregnant with Aston’s child, but how I wasn’t even sure if it was his. The uncertainty was eating away at me, making my stomach twist with worry.
I thought about how I was going to tell Aston, how I was going to break the news to him. I imagined us sitting down together, holding hands, and me telling him that the baby might not be his. But then I realized that wasn’t even the biggest problem. I could easily not talk about the fact that I slept with someone else, he wasn’t exactly innocent either. The biggest problem was
my parents
Or, at least, the people I claimed to be my parents.
I had made a mistake, a big one. I had told everyone that these people were my parents, but the truth was, I had no idea who my real parents were. I had grown up in foster care, bouncing from home to home, never quite feeling like I belonged. So, I had made up a whole backstory, created a whole new family for myself when I got this pack and that story somehow made me gain access to the palace.
And now, I was faced with the consequences of that decision.
I needed to come up with a plan, and fast. I needed to figure out a way to tell Aston, to tell my fake parents, and to deal with the fallout, I was overwhelmed, my mind racing with worries. The people I made out to be my parents didn’t even know who I was.
I was feeling utterly exhausted and overwhelmed. The pregnancy drama had hit me like a ton of bricks, and I wasn’t prepared. I thought I had more time before the symptoms kicked in, but I was wrong. My mind was racing with thoughts and worries, and I couldn’t think straight.
I needed a plan, but my brain felt like mush. I couldn’t even think about what to eat for breakfast, let alone figure out how to navigate this pregnancy. I felt like I was drowning.
I tried to calm myself down, taking slow, deep breaths. But my mind kept racing. I didn’t even know how far along I was, I just knew that I was pregnant. I would get to that part later, when I was strong enough to call in the pack doctor. But for now, I needed to focus on getting better.
I thought about my situation, trying to break it down into smaller, more manageable pieces. I was pregnant, and I needed to take care of myself. I needed to rest, eat well, and stay hydrated, I could do that.
But the bigger picture was harder to grasp. I was pregnant, and I didn’t know who the father was. I had been with Aston, but I had also been with someone else. I didn’t know what to do, or who to turn to buy what I did know was that life wasn’t so bad
now.
I felt like royalty. Aston was treating me like a queen, catering to my every whim and attending to my every need. He had been doing this for days, and I had to admit, it was nice.
“I’m going to get you some water, Mara,” Aston said, getting up from the bed. “Do you want anything else?”NôvelDrama.Org holds this content.
“No, that’s okay, I replied, smiling. “Just water is fine.”
Aston nodded and headed to the kitchen. I watched him go, feeling a sense of contentment wash
hover me. This was the life.
When Aston returned with the water, he handed it to me and sat down beside me on the bed. “How are you feeling today?” he asked, concern etched on his face.
Sat, Oct
“I’m feeling good,” I said, taking a sip of the water. “Thanks to you
Aston smiled and put his arm around me. “Tin just glad I can take care of you,” he said. “You deserve it.”
I leaned into his embrace, feeling happy and content. This was what I had been missing in our relationship – attention and affection from Aston.
As the days went by, Aston continued to treat me like a queen. I bought me things, ran errands for me, and even gave me massages. I was in heaven.
“I could get used to this,” I said one day, as Aston was giving me foot massage,
Aston smiled and looked up at me. “You deserve it,” he said. “You’re carrying my child.”
I smiled back at him, feeling happy and content. If I had known that getting pregnant would get me this kind of attention from Aston. I would have done it ages ago.
But as much as I was enjoying the attention, I knew that it wasn’t just about me. I was carrying a baby, and that baby needed attention and care too.
“Aston, we need to talk about the baby,” I said one day, as we were sitting on the couch.
“What about the baby?” Aston asked, looking at me with concern
“We need to figure out what we’re going to do,” I said. “Are we going to raise it together? Are we going to get married?”
Aston looked at me, surprised. “Of course, no child of mine is going to be raised out of wedlock” he said.
I nodded, feeling a sense of relief. At least we were on the same page.
“We should start making plans, then,” I said. “We need to figure out where we’re going to live, and how we’re going to raise the baby”
Aston nodded, and we spent the rest of the day discussing our plans for the future.
As the days turned into weeks, Aston continued to be attentive and caring. He was with me all day and helped me pick out baby clothes.
A
I was starting to feel like we were actually going to make this work. Like we were actually going to be a family and I loved that but it came with a cost I was not ready to pay.
Aston’s insistence on meeting my parents was starting to get to me. If only he knew who my parents really were. I was running out of time, and I didn’t know what to do. What if he called the people I claimed were my parents and found out that I wasn’t their daughter? Aston was not very forgiving when it came to deception.
I sat on the bed, trying to think of a way out of this situation. Kira came in with some food, and Aston told her to leave it on the bedside table. I didn’t even have the time or energy to mock her and show her that she was nothing more than a fling.
Aston was beside me on the bed, occasionally patting my hair while pressing his phone.
“Hey, how are you feeling?” he asked, looking at me with concern
“I’m feeling okay. I guess,” I replied, trying to sound nonchalant
Aston nodded, still pressing his phone. “Good. I was thinking, maybe it’s time I met your parents.”
My heart skipped a beat. “Oh, I don’t know, Aston,” I said, trying to stall.
“Why not?” he asked, looking at me curiously.
“I just don’t think it’s a good idea right now,” I said, trying to come up with an excuse.
Aston raised an eyebrow. “Why not? I thought you said you were feeling okay?”
I hesitated, trying to think of a way to get out of this situation. “Tam but I just think we should wait a little. They might be busy.
Aston looked sceptical. “Busy? What do you mean?”
I sighed, trying to think of a way to explain. “They’re just…they’re going through a lot right now. And I don’t want to bother.
them.”
Aston nodded, but I could tell he didn’t believe me. “Okay, well, maybe some other time then.”
I nodded, feeling relieved. But I knew this wasn’t the end of it. Aston was going to keep pushing me to meet my parents, and I didn’t know how much longer I could keep up this charade.
As Aston continued to press his phone, I couldn’t help but feel anxious, What if he found out the truth? What if he discovered that I wasn’t who I said I was?
I didn’t want to ruin things with Aston. I really cared about him, and I didn’t want to lose him. But I didn’t know how much longer I could keep up this lie.
“Aston, can I ask you something?” I said, trying to distract him.
“Sure, what is it?” he replied, looking at me curiously.
“Do you really want to meet my parents that badly?” I asked, trying to gauge his interest.
Aston nodded. “Yes, I do. We can’t have a wedding without them!
I sighed, feeling trapped. I didn’t know what to do. Should I run away? Should I tell him the truth?
I didn’t know, but I knew I had to do something. And fast. This man was going to catch up to my lie soon.
