Chapter 1187
Late into the night, as Winona was frantically calling around looking for Joe, she received a text message from an unknown number asking for her email, claiming to have some "explosive news."
Still fuming, Winona rolled her eyes.
Soon after, she received a photo. It was of Joe kissing a woman in a car.
Without a second thought, she sent her email to the stranger.
A few minutes later, a video appeared in her inbox. It was a clear, high-quality recording of Joe and Yvonne in the car, locked in an intimate kiss. The angles were so precise that if Winona did not know them, she could have mistaken it for some kind of inappropriate film. Furious, Winona grabbed the nearest vase and hurled it to the floor. Still unsatisfied, she began destroying anything within reach, leaving the room in complete disarray.
Once her anger was somewhat vented, a new plan sparked in her mind.
She picked up her phone and dialed a number. "Is Nigel and Yvonne's wedding tomorrow? Where's it being held? Alright, pick me up in the morning."
Hanging up, a cold smile crept across her face as her eyes gleamed with malice.
Yvonne was jolted awake by her phone ringing. Groggily rubbing her head, she answered, "Hello, I'm home."
On the other end, Nina sounded frustrated, checking the time. "Home? Weren't we supposed to meet early at my place? Did you oversleep?"
Only then did Yvonne remember her arrangement with Nina. It was to meet up at Nina's house so the makeup artist could get her ready before heading to the wedding venue together.
They had planned it this way to make things easier for Nina, given her condition. But last night, Yvonne had gotten carried away, drinking a bit too much in her excitement.
Cursing herself for being so
unreliable, Yvonne hung up, realizing with panic that the wedding was less than an hour away. There was no way she could make it to Niña's place and still get ready in time.
Thankfully, Nina had already taken care of everything, including having the makeup artist ready. All Yvonne had to do was show up. The car would rush them to the venue at top speed. When Yvonne finally arrived, Nina couldn't help but scold her. "How much did you drink last night? You smell like a distillery! If I'd known, I wouldn't have let you out drinking." Yvonne shrugged it off with a smile. "Don't worry, I'll just spray some perfume and cover it up."
Nina rolled her eyes. "You've got to be more careful. The Gibson family isn't like any ordinary family. You need to tone it down, at least around his parents. You have to pretend a little, okay?"
At the mention of the Gibson family, Yvonne's expression darkened. It wasn't her first time visiting them, but every encounter left her feeling uncomfortable.
She could never shake the feeling that Nigel's parents looked at her with disdain, as though she wasn't good enough for their son.
