Chapter 19: Changes
Chapter 19: Changes
"Do you think Aiden changed his mind?"
Seth's question is the same as mine. I don't know what happened but Aiden didn't talked about it earlier
and all I know was that I can't meddle with his order as the Alpha. We agreed on that point already so
I'm not sure what's happening right now.
But why is Titus thanking me if he hadn't receive a great news? Which I can think none other than his
position gave back to him.
"Can you call him again?" I asked Seth and sat on a chair beside where he was seated. He nodded
then shifted to pick his phone in his pocket and dialed a number. I can sense his breathing stopped
when the first ring was heard.
"It's ringing." he said and handed me the phone. I took it quickly and put it on my ears. I'm not sure
what I'll say but it's clear that I want information from him. My hand is slightly trembling as I wait for him
to answer.
A few rings and Titus picked up the call.
"Hey again."
"Titus, it's me." I said in almost a whisper. I'm afraid Aurea can hear our conversation and I needed to
be careful with my words.
"Luna." he greeted, acknowledging me at last as his Alpha's mate. I felt a warm hand caress my heart
from the regard. It's what being an Alpha's mate is. Everything about the pack starts to embrace me
and I always feel glad and warm from it.
"Yes. Uh, what happened? Seth was saying something." I regret the words that I said. I should have
pretended I am involve with the news even though I'm confused what part is it.
I put my palm on my head and rubbed on my hair. Damn. I should clear my head or else I'll blow things
up myself.
"Thank you so much, Luna. Beta Nick just told me I can have a few more months to keep my position. I
knew you can convince Alpha Aiden and really grateful for that."
Seth hissed but also sighed in relief when he heard what Titus said. Me on the other hand was still
confused as I absorbed the news from him.
Aiden didn't tell me he considered my suggestion but now that he did, I'm happy. I'm pleased that he let
my words through to his rough barriers though I don't know what pushed him to change his mind.
I sighed silently and smiled at Seth who grins at me as well. Finally, we can breathe fresh air without
worrying about what to happen next. I can feel the relief that embraced us both at the moment.
"Oh, you're talking about that. I'm glad I could help." I pretended I forgot about our deal, trying to hide
the fact that I'm clueless about any of Aiden's plans. It would be awful for a Luna to be unaware of pack
happenings though I was okay with it. If Aiden didn't want me in, I won't push myself deeper.
Seth smirked with how I handled my first mistake. I felt light, like a stack of brick was taken off my
chest. I wanted to call Aiden and thank him for changing his mind but that would be absurd because I'm
keeping this a secret from him.
"I apologize for everything I said yesterday, my Luna." Titus' voice was sincere and I immediately
forgave him in my head. I already did even without an apology from him.
"That doesn't matter anymore, Titus. But I expect you to do your side of the deal."
"Of course! I won't say a word. And if you have questions about your, uh, abnormality, you are welcome
to visit anytime."
I saw Seth nodded with his words, he probably have his own set of questions about stealer like I do. I'm
actually eager to know more.
"Well, can we come over now?"
Seth turned his head to me and his expression was taken aback. I know he's shocked that I wanted to
come over but it's better to know more earlier than later.
'Ash, today's the ceremony.'
I rolled my eyes at him. He always reminds me that and I'm grateful but right now I needed to have
answers.
'I have nothing to do now. We have hours to wait for the ceremony.'
'But why so sudden? Can't it wait for tomorrow?'
'I'm planning to tell Aiden about it after the ceremony. I needed to know more to prepare for his
questions.'
He grimaced but nodded. I knew what he thinks. What's the point of helping Titus if I'll end up
confessing to Aiden, right? But I realized one thing when Aiden and I talked at the lake.
That whatever happens, we'll talk things over.
So Titus got lucky for his preposition. But that also helped me to come out of my shell, and also see
another side of Aiden.
He can be mad at me and I can be to him, but we always want to be next to each other. Even if he
hates me or I hated him, the resolve would still be the same.
"Right now? But I thought you will be introduced to the pack tonight."
"I am. But an hour or two won't hurt. I still have time."
Titus paused for a short while and I looked to Seth with questioning eyes.
'Why is he hesitating?'
Seth shrugged his shoulder before I heard Titus spoke again.
"If you wish, Luna. I'll wait for you at my home?"
I beamed and nodded even if he can't see my reaction.
"Yes, we'll be there now."
The call has ended and I quickly stood up after giving Seth's phone back. He followed me as we
stormed out of the room.
"I wonder where Titus can found information about stealers." Seth said as we walked down the stairs.
"Ssshh!" I said and looked around. I widened my eyes at him and he utter a mute 'sorry'. I'm avoiding
Au to hear us because another mind that knows means another explanation and persuasions. Seth is
fine right now and it's best that Aiden will know next.
"Do you want us to take a car or run at the woods?"
"There's a route at the forest?" The last time it's a long ride when we took a car. Well, we had six
families to catch yesterday and it's better to take the road but now that Seth said there's a path in the
woods, I think that's better.
"Yeah. We'll just need to run fast east from here."
My wolf cheered and asked me if she can go for a run. It's been long since I shifted and she's just
itching to come out.
"Let's take that route but I'll run in my wolf."
"Huh?"
"What? It's been a while since I've shifted."
"Uh, but that'll mean you need to go naked. Aiden won't like that." He scowled. I remember what
happened to Nick and I figured he's probably thinking the same. I laughed because of their fear for
Aiden when it comes to me.
Well, he sure is possessive at times.
"We won't know. Come on!"
Seth didn't say a word and just followed me as I run to the woods. I can hide behind these huge trees
so being naked is not really a problem. Plus, it's not like
We stormed out of the house and I immediately went behind a huge oak tree. I took of my clothes when
I made sure no one was around. I'm not worried about Seth because I know he won't peek plus he's
shifting in his wolf form, too.
'A run! At last!' My wolf cheered and I smiled as she took over control. I shifted in my beautiful white
wolf as she stands proud with her shiny coat. She shook her body as she felt the cold breeze against
her fur.
'It's freezing!'
I laughed from her whining. I love the cold yet my wolf who's supposed to stand the cold because of NôvelDrama.Org holds © this.
her thick furs feels the opposite.
'Wow. You're white!' Seth exclaimed. I laughed from his remark. His wolf is brown, almost blonde like
the color of his hair. His size is bigger than my wolf though his built definitely looked stronger. 'Your
color fits you as a Luna'
What he said was true. It's rare but the usual Luna wolf is white. Though I don't know what that means.
'Let's go.'
We started running east and my wolf howled as she fastens her pace. Enjoying nature as it embraces
us, giving warmth to my heart.
I miss this.
Aiden's POV
" It's done."
I did not looked up to see Nick's face. I knew what expression he's portraying right now and I don't want
to talk about it.
"Why did you change your mind?"
And of course, he will always want to talk. Damn it.
"You're nosy." I hissed and run my hands through my hair.
Nick is talking about Titus. I ordered him to tell Titus that he's allowed to keep his position as the
guard's head. For a while, at least.
I still didn't tolerate the negligence of his duty that took place with the rogue attack. I still despise that
kind of manner and I strongly believe that losing a mate is not an excuse to let the enemy precede a
fight. Losing wolves of my pack in the process.
" It's my job to be nosy. So why are you being soft now?" I gave him a narrowed look as I watch him sat
down on the chair in front of my table. His words are never filtered and I hate talking to him about this
right now. Or any other time.
"I'm not! A few months won't hurt. Aero needs to be briefed for the role until his ready. That's what
changed my mind."
That's a lie. True, Aero needs to be apprised of his new role but he won't need Titus at all. I decided the
extension because of my mate. Stupid as it may sound but I want to make her happy. I want her to
know that I'm acknowledging her opinions sometimes but I won't do it often.
Nick nodded but still has the doubting look on his eyes. A low growl came from my throat when I felt
irritated with his conviction.
"One day I'll ask the pack to challenge you into duel so you'll be replaced." I'm not serious though. Nick
is just really getting on my nerves with his annoying demeanor.
He chuckled and stood up. See what I mean? It's nice to have him as a friend, I spent almost my
lifetime with him by my side but he sure irritates the hell out of me.
"I'll go do my job now."
"Do that." I leaned over my desk and focused on the papers I had to be done with.
"Oh. I almost forgot." I looked up at him again, why does he always need to speak when I needed to
focus on my work?
"What?" I spat and he raised his brows to me.
"I promise I'll go out after I say this so chill." he's half-laughing as he said that. I frowned and hissed as
I shake my head. Damn it.
"Spill it so you can finally leave." My teeth are gritted against each other. Any moment now and Nick
will receive a growl from my wolf that can make his knee tremble.
"Titus asked for permission to talk with you after the ceremony." he said and was about to turn away
but halted when I spoke.
"What for?"
Nick shrugged. "He wont tell me but he assures it won't be a waste of your time."
