Bound Hearts: My Vows to My Disabled Spouse

Chapter 222

Jayden Was Shy

Elyse readily agreed, affirming, "Certainly, I love him."

Perplexed once more, Corrie asked, "What draws you to him?" To her, Jayden seemed lacking. How could Elyse feel such affection for him?

Elyse became aware of Jayden's gaze fixed upon her.

Crossing her arms and leaning in with curiosity, Corrie prodded, "I'm quite intrigued by your feelings for Jayden. Considering he's... He's not exactly husband material."

She then playfully winked at Jayden, and added, "Forgive me if I'm being a bit harsh, okay?" Jayden, maintaining his composure, asked, "You know my response."

Corrie m exclaimed, "You're too narrow-minded. Ms. Lloyd, just look at that carefree expression;

he hardly seems like husband material." Turning to Elyse, she continued to belittle Jayden in front of her.

However, Elyse remained silent. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

Did Corrie believe her remarks would demonstrate camaraderie between her and Jayden? Corrie's lack of respect to her was evident.

In Corrie's estimation, Elyse fell short of being suitable as Jayden's wife.

Elyse wasn't bothered. Regardless of whether others acknowledged it or not, Elyse and Jayden were legally married.

Even if others denied it, the truth remained.

Elyse glanced at Jayden before returning her gaze ahead, and murmured softly, "My love for Jayden has deepened since we got married. As for why I love him..."

She trailed off, her eyes downcast in contemplation, lost in thought.

Sitting beside her, Jayden felt an inexplicable nervousness, his curiosity piqued by her words.

"I love him because he's Jayden," she finally articulated after a moment's pause.

Upon hearing Elyse's response, Tess reacted with sarcasm. "I was expecting a profound reason.

This sounds like an excuse when you can't come up with one."

Bryce chimed in with laughter, "I used to use excuses to impress girls back in elementary school!"

He quickly covered his mouth upon realizing his blunder, earning a sharp glare from Tess.

Disregarding their taunts, Elyse looked directly at Jayden and

asserted, "It's not about anything else. It's simply because of who

you are." Jayden felt deeply moved, though he couldn't quite grasp the entirety of Elyse's sentiment.

Yet, in that moment when she looked at him, he felt as if he could see the entire universe reflected

in her eyes.

He was taken aback.

Jayden coughed lightly, attempting to mask his shyness. "Regardless of what you say, let's refrain from getting too sentimental."

Sitting beside him, Elyse noticed his flushed ears and leaned in, whispering, "Are you feeling uncomfortable because you're shy?"

"You're overthinking," Jayden retorted, taking a sip from his teacup, feigning composure. Across from them, Corrie observed the exchange between Jayden and Elyse, particularly noting Jayden's reaction, which left her incredulous..org

Was Jayden feeling uncomfortable due to the discussion surrounding his and Elyse's relationship? But why had Jayden displayed such coldness and indifference when he was romantically involved with her? Feeling uneasy, Corrie tightened her grip on her cup.

"Could we please have the dishes served?" Corrie interjected,

eager to change the subject and divert attention away from

Jayden and Elyse's relationship. Tess smiled kindly. "Of course, Corrie. They'll be served shortly. Don't worry."

A few minutes later, the waiter arrived with a cart bearing the dishes.

Elyse ate silently, occasionally glancing in the direction of Corrie and Tess's laughter.

Corrie said something to Tess, prompting laughter from the latter, who then passed the salt to

Corrie, displaying a familial rapport between them.

Observing their camaraderie, Elyse couldn't help but feel that Corrie was more like family to Tess than Jayden was.

After a few bites, Elyse felt full. The dishes, ordered to suit Bryce's taste, were overly sweet, a preference neither she nor Jayden shared.

"I need to use the restroom," Elyse announced as she rose from the table. Upon exiting the restroom, Elyse found Corrie standing at the wash basin, watching her. Ignoring Corrie's gaze, Elyse proceeded to wash her hands without acknowledging her. "I heard you and Jayden have been married for three months, right?" Corrie asked, toying with her hair in a casual manner. Elyse asked flatly, "What are you trying to say?"
