Sensing that she was tensing up, the man on top of her said, “Are you scared of me?”

After asking that, Lawrence suddenly let out a laugh, “You should be scared of me, of course. In this

world, there is no prostitute who isn’t afraid of her customer and debtor who isn’t afraid of debt

collectors!”

With a loud tearing sound, her shirt was instantly in pieces, and the man’s initially blurry and absent-

minded gaze suddenly took on a vicious bloodlust as he locked her neck in place and started to

vehemently kiss her.

It was an understatement to call that a kiss. He even looked like he was gnawing off her lips.

“Charlotte.”

Perhaps he was really very drunk now, as he continued to tear her apart, he continued to ask, “It has

dare you come back to me?”

became much mellower as he cooed, “Alice, what’s the matter?”

“Alright, I got it. I will be there in a minute.”

He hung up the phone while looking much sober now. After shooting a cold glance at Charlotte lying

underneath him, he got up and pushed away her body. He tidied up himself before turning around to

leave.

“Lawrence.”

Charlotte held her torn clothes in place as she sat up. She sounded like she had to use a lot of force to

utter a single word.

“I am just speculating. If that incident never happened, and if everything is nothing but fake, will we be

able to go back to how we used to be?”

Lawrence froze for second before he began laughing coldly.

“Charlotte, don’t you think you’re a little too naïve?”

He slowly turned around and looked at Charlotte with squinted, smiling eyes, but within those pupils it

was utterly cold.

“I think you don’t know about a certain something. During the night you were abandoned, I have slept

with a girl. A virgin who was clean.”

Charlotte felt her breathing stop, and her whole body started to writhe in agony.

She recalled that fearful night five years ago when she was being sat on by an unknown man who had

stolen away her virginity violently.

The thought that while she was suffering from such pain and he was sleeping and rolling bed sheets

with another woman never occurred to her.

That was really the best form of revenge.

When he saw her pale face, Lawrence smiled with satisfaction.

“Charlotte, even if you are still clean, the moment I have slept with someone else, I have ceased to love

you. There is no turning back for us anymore.”

Charlotte had nightmares the whole night.

She couldn’t recall how she had returned to her condominium and fallen asleep. By the time she woke

up, her head was throbbing with an immense pain.

When she remembered Lawrence’s words last night, her whole body was froze on the bed for some

time. Only after that she got up to wash herself.

The moment she got off her bed, her phone suddenly rang.

When she saw a memo being displayed on the screen, Charlotte felt her breath catch in her airways.

Her senses suddenly became sharp without warning.

“How’s the progress? Is there any news about my father and brother?”

The man at the other end of the phone stayed silent for a moment before answering in a low voice, “I

have found them, and they are now in City B. Despite that, things are kind of complicated, so I can’t get

them out of there immediately. Strangely, I have a feeling that I’m being tailed by someone.”

“If that’s the case, wait me at the usual spot. After shrugging off the pursuer, I will come to you and tell

you everything personally.”

Charlotte’s hand which was holding her phone couldn’t stop shaking, and only after a while, she blurted

out a reply, “Alright…”

Finally, there was news.

Her father and brother were in City B.

She only needed to meet the detective, then what came after this…

There was a loud crashing sound coming from the other end of the phone, and the sudden noise

caused Charlotte’s hand to shiver violently.

The next second, she abruptly lifted her head and called out, “Detective?”
