Billionaire’s Side Attraction

Chapter Thirty

Javier Lorenzo

I hated myself for what I was doing. This was not like me going about spying on people, but the phone call with Lula put me in a confused state. Why did it sound like she was hiding something from me? I hate being the fool, why doesn’t she just come out with it and let me know how she truly feels?

For the sake of the love I have for you, Lula, do not break my heart, please. I cannot bear to be heartbroken, it hurts so bad.

I parked in the parking lot and got out. I walked straight into the main building and took the elevator to her floor. Since it was a Sunday, the place was scanty. Workers dressed in casual clothes instead of uptight suits. I got on the floor of Lula’s office and was about to head to her office when I heard noises coming from the conference room. Since the entire floor was empty, I thought to check it out. I walked down the direction of the conference room and looked through the glass window.

Along with other gray-haired members of the board, Lula was standing there with her mother. I heaved out a sigh of relief, knowing that it is nothing out of the ordinary. She may not be at her mom’s home but at least, she is with her mom. I turned to leave when I heard a familiar voice, I looked back and saw him; Carlos Martinez standing closest to Lula. He had his hand around her arms and they were all smiles. I stood there watching them, one would think I had been nailed to the floor.

I couldn’t hear what they were saying, but from the looks of it, it must be good news. What was the point of our relationship if things like this are kept from me?

I don’t know how Lula’s eyes went up and she saw me. She froze, looking just as shocked as I was. Her mouth opened and closed as she watched me. If not that I was mad at her, I would have found that sexy. I turned around and made my way downstairs. Not ready to hear any explanation from her.

I got to the parking lot and was about to get into my car when I heard the sound of heels approaching from behind me. “Javi, please I can explain”. She begged.

I turned to her, my eyes were almost blinded by the tears I was holding back with all my strength. “Get this straight Lula, I don’t ever want to see you again.”

“Javi, por favor-” She broke down in tears.

I took deep breaths to calm my nerves. “I am giving you one minute to explain yourself. Go”

She opened her mouth as inherent sounds escaped between her shivering lips.

“You have Forty seconds” I was running low on patience with her.

She finally pulled herself together. “I am only doing this for my mom, I swear. She made Carlos a member of the board by selling him some stocks. I’m sorry for not telling you, it came as a surprise to me too.”

“Are you done?”

She furrowed her brows in confusion. “Uh, Yes.”

“I think it’s best if we go our separate ways. You are not truthful to me and you know how much I value honesty. You told me you were going to your momma’s house but instead, you came here. How do you expect me to trust you?”

She was dumbfounded. “I’m sorry, Javi.” Her face was flooded with heavy tears but unlike before, I didn’t wipe it off.© NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

“‘I’m sorry’ is all you have been saying to me from the time we met. I’m tired of hearing your lies! Go back to your office and continue working with your ex” I got into my car and drove off, leaving her standing there in her black dress.

I stopped a few blocks away from my house. The pre-winter cold seeped through my coat, penetrating my skin, causing a bit of shiver. I hated the cold, it reminded me of how alone I am. I looked across the street as a couple walked by, holding hands and smiling at each other. It vexed me just watching their exchange. Like the Grinch on Christmas, seeing people in love makes me bitter as fuck.

What am I turning into?

My phone buzzed in my pocket; I pulled it out and checked the screen. Lula’s name flashed on the screen. I swiped to ignore the call and then I turned off my phone. I love her so much, but she is too stuck up in her world to see anything else. Changing herself just to please her fans, giving up her happiness to make her mom happy… that’s not the life I want for her.

I sucked in a deep breath and turned on the ignition. Then, I drove down to my house. I looked up to see someone at my doorstep. She still had her red dress from earlier. She smiled brightly when she saw me. I can’t believe she had been waiting in this cold. I got down and walked to the door. “I thought you left here, Rosa. Why are you back?”

She stood in front of me with her bright smile still unwavering. “I have never lied to you, you know that. You know I love you so much. I am sorry for not believing in you, maybe it is because no one believed in me.” She looked down as tears flooded her face.

“Just stop it, Rosa.” I walked past her and headed for the door.

She stood beside me. “Just give me one more chance and if I disappoint you again, you can never talk to me again. But it’s only fair that you let me change myself. Please.”

I sighed. “I’m sorry, Rosa. I can’t do it.” Her eyes turned sadder.

“You know I won’t give up on your Lorenzo, right?”
