Chapter 383
Chapter 383
Sofia’s pov
The ride home was extremely silent. I couldn’t believe that the air between Luca and I could get any
tenser, but tonight has proved my thoughts wrong.
I was angry, definitely.
Who wouldn’t be angry by the blatant show of disrespect. Excusing to go talk to the woman whom I had
just introduced to him only a few hours ago – whatever it is that he went to ssy to her couldn’t be voiced
out in my presence?
I was very angry, and hurt.
I don’t have a problem with Lola. She probably didn’t mean any harm. My main problem was Luca now.
I kept to myself and alighted the car as soon as it drove into the compound, hastily making my way into
the house. I was about to climb off the stairs when Luca, probably sensing that something was wrong,
stopped me with a hand on my wrist.
“Can I help you with something?” I asked, keeping my voice as neutral as possible.
He fidgeted for a few moments before finally shaking his head.
“What’s wrong?” He finslly asked and Sofia let out a started laugh.
He couldn’t be seriously asking me that right now, could he?
The look on his face was obvious that he was waiting on a response from me, which made me regard
him in bewilderment.
“You can’t seriously be asking me that.” I finally whispered in response.
I glanced around for a few moments, not wanting to stare up into his face as I tried to gather my
scattered thoughts.
“Is Lola your type now?” I finally demanded.
His eyes widened drastically and he instantly dropped my hand to take a step back. The shock was
very obvious on his face which made me even angrier.
“What?” He whispered in what I’d assume In confusion. I folded my arms over my chest and glared up
at him.
“”Why are you asking that? What ade you think that?” He finally asked after a few minutes of nothing
but silence between us.
“You were talking to her back in the club, were you not?” I asked and watched as his eyes widened a
little.
“I was, but –”
I cut into his words. “Yes, you were. And did you so much as exchange a word with me while we were
back at the club? No, you did not.”
“Bunny…” He began to speak but I shook my head.
“No, you really did not, but that’s not what we’re discussing right now.” I paused and puffed out a sharp
breath.
“You obviously didn’t want to dance with me. We are supposed to be celebrating tonight back at the
club, were we not? But what happened between us back at the club? Yes, we barely spoke.”
“Oh, and you spoke with Lola way longer that you’ve had a conversation with me throughout the whole
to today combined together.” I puffed out a breath once I was done, refusing to glance up at him.
“I- I hadn’t mean it like that.” Luca finally whispered in response and I shook my head with a grimace.
“Of course you didn’t, like you haven’t meant for things to be this way between us either.” I mumbled
out, but I was sure he heard every word.
The silence was starting to stretch between us once again when I decided to speak.
“You know what’s more hurtful about this entire thing? This day was supposed to be my day. You’re
supposed to do the needful to me, to be there for me emotionally and all, but what I got today was the
complete opposite of that.” I paused and exhaled slowly.
“That’s not even all. You outrightly disrespected me tonight. Walking off to talk with some other woman
you just met today was very disrespectful to me. I know I’m way younger than you but as your wife, I
feel like you should still accord me a little respect, even though you’re used to talking with women like
that whenever I’m not present.” Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
Luca begin to speak as soon as I was done this time, noticeably taking a step closer to me.
“I respect you, Sofia. You know I do.” He responded, sounding earnest.
“Tonight didn’t seem like that.” I pointed out.
“That’s because I went to discuss some work related with her.” He responded after a little while.
“And it had to be held far away from me, like I shouldn’t be listening in or something.”
“I didn’t mean it like that, Sofia. I swear it.” He responded immediately and I pursed my lips.
“Why are things this way between us now?” I asked after a few moments. “You know it’s your fault. You
just started acting unusual and weird around me for reasons unknown to me.”
“I –” He began to speak but I cut him off, uncaring that I was being really disrespectful right now.
“You know, this would have been a normal thing between us if we didn’t used to be really close before.
Assuming we were always like this, I would not be feeling this depressed and sad every damn time.
This is honestly all your fault.”
“Sofia…” Luca began to speak, taking a step closer to me but I took one back, not wanting him to try to
hold me.
“If you hadn’t treated me like I actually meant something to you, I would not be feeling this withdrawal
this way. I don’t mean to be rude, but I wish you hadn’t acted that way with me if you were only going to
pull away without any actual explanation like you’ve been doing for the past few weeks.” I whispered
while staring up at him.
I watched as a pained expression crossed his face before I averted my gaze, feeling the heavyweight
so many emotions settle over my shoulders at once, weighing me down drastically and suddenly
making me feel extremely overwhelmed all of a sudden. .
“You know what? Just forget it.” I mumbled, refusing to meet his gaze as I turned away from him.
