Chapter 370
Chapter 370
James’ pov
I drove as fast as I could, cursing the city’s traffic beneath my breath while at it.
I loosened my tie and exhaled deeply as I slowed to a halt in accordance to the traffic light.
I had already planned myself today.
I had planned to head over to Blair’s as soon as we round up the mafia’s meeting tonight. I just hadn’t
anticipated that the meeting was going to take this long.
That wasn’t the reason why I was currently running late. It’s because I had stayed in with Luca even
after the meeting had been over.
I couldn’t help it.
I was worried about my best friend.
Ever since the deed which he did with Alexa, he sort of slowly spiraled into some sort of down casted
and depressed head state. It didn’t help that he had been loyal to his wife since he began to feel
something for her, that was what made him feel really bad with himself.
I guess I do understand him in a way.
But I couldn’t help but still be lost about how he was feeling. Perhaps it was because I’ve never really
cared about someone as much as Luca cared for Sofia.
The way he cared for her was so obvious, he didn’t even need to say it for it to be detected.
It was that obvious.
My mind drifted towards Blair and for a fleeting moment, I wondered if I’d ever have that sort of thing
Luca did with Sofia, with someone else.
There was no use denying it.
I find Blair really attractive.
More like, I was really attracted to her.
But, who wouldn’t be?
She was fierce, sharp, whitty and a whole mood every damn time.
Shit was so attractive, it strokes my veins each time she glares at me like she was about to claw out my
heart from my chest.
I glanced out the window and sighed in frustration.
Trust the traffic to chose tonight or all nights to be intense as fuck.
With another long sigh, I slumped into my seat and pressed on the horn of the car, just because I could.
Another horn responded to mine a few cars away and I snorted in amusement.
There was always someone like that who’s always ready to carry on vibes like that, no matter the
situation.
With a low groan, I decided within myself that I was going to be stuck in the same spot for a while.

When I pulled up at Blair’s neighborhood, I winced as I checked the time out, it was currently over forty
minutes late.
If Blair was no longer waiting for me seeing as I had taken this long to arrive, then I wouldn’t even be
able to accuse her of not holding up her side of the deal because I was literally the one who turned up
almost an hour late.
As I took her stairs twice at a time while wrinkling my nose, I wondered if she wasn’t even in her
apartment any longer. Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Perhaps, she had waited for my arrival and after over ten minutes, decides to get on with more
important things than waiting on for some dinner appointment with some loser billionaire who obviously
has a whole lot of money to waste.
I halted at the top of the stairs.
Does she really think I was a loser billionaire? I asked myself as I slowly made my way towards her
door.
The two times we’ve had dinner together were so nice, in my opinion.
I mean, not that nice because she mostly remains silent and tries to ignore me at all cost, but it was still
fun and relaxing to me in a way. And the fact that she got more response and engaged in more
conversation during our second dinner, was so much progress in my book.
As I paused before her door and made to knock, I silently wondered if Blair liked our dinner
arrangements at all, like I had done.
I silently hoped that she has liked it and not fully detest it like she always make it seem like, I thought to
myself as I knocked on the door.
I was about to knock again when the door swung open to my shock. I blinked a little, as Blair slide out
of her apartment and pulled the door shut behind her, before I could even take a peek of her apartment.
“You’re here.” Was the first thing I blurted out, and I mentally cursed myself for that.
Can’t fault me for that though, because I had literally been thinking she wouldn’t be waiting on me any
longer since I had taken so long to arrive.
I watched as she rolled her eyes and narrowed her gaze at me as she spoke. “I mean? Wasn’t that the
whole point of you coming here and knocking on my door?”
I exhaled a slow breath and tried to stop myself from staring down past her face. The little glimpse of
her outfit which I was able to catch, revealed that she was dressed in something feminine tonight.
But, that was so freaking hard, and not really helping matters– because her face was so damn
attractive.
“I thought you were no longer going to be here since I took so long to arrive.” I confessed, taking in the
line of mascara on her eyelids.
She looked shocked at my words for a moment, before the mask fell back into places like blinds over a
window.
“Oh. Well, I thought you were taking your sweet time just to mess with me or some shit like that.”
“That wasn’t the case at all. Thank you for waiting on me.” I murmured, and then I looked her up and
down thoroughly this time, a smile making its way to my face.
I watched as she rolled her eyes as pointed out. “I didn’t do this for you, if that’s the conclusion you’ve
already come to.”
I barked out a laugh. “I haven’t come to any conclusion yet. I’m yet to thoroughly check you out yet.”
“Do take your sweet time then. I assure you that you have a whole lot of that to do as you please with.”
I crossed my arms over my chest and spoke. “I was late due to traffic and some other important things,
I’d not purposely keep you waiting.”
She hummed and regarded me with a look that showed that she didn’t believe me, which made me roll
my eyes.
“Anyways, back to checking you out; turn around for me, so I can give you some nice, fully deserving
compliments.” I murmured with a tilt of my head, brows aching teasingly.
She gave me the finger this time.
“In your dreams, Mr James. I don’t even want your compliments, feed them to the chicks who’re dying
for them.”
She walked past me after that, leaving me in nothing but complete awe.
