As a series of chirping sounds came from the crickets, Danica paused for a few moment. Camila? Frieda? Was mom back?
A spring resort hotel? She didn't come home despite being back and chose to stay in a hotel instead? Was she really Danica's mother? Was she really the woman who took away the entire Randolph family's fortune? Not a single thought of Danica crossed Frieda's mind when she left. Moreover, she didn't even contact Danica then that she was back. Did she really not care about Danica anymore?
Why was that?
At that moment, Danica was still in a trance. Only when a faint discomfort came from her stomach did she come back to her senses. She headed towards the bathroom first before she hurried back into the room and changed her clothes.
On the dance floor of the hotel's ballroom, Victoria gently wrapped her arms around Trevor as the both of them began to dance. She inadvertently gazed at the side of his collar and couldn't help but giggled while she narrowed her eyes,
"Hehe!"
Gazing down, Trevor patted her slender waist and said, "Hmm, you seem happy!"
Shortly, a muffled and warm voice echoed into Victoria's ears, "You can bite me wherever you want tonight."
Victoria frowned while she drew her head back. As she stared into his wicked eyes, she continuously shook her head and squealed. "Never! No!" However, the hickey on his neck had indeed arosed her.
As soon as she moved, a fluffy white object suddenly emerged in front of her eyes again. Right then, a thought flashed across Trevor's mind as he narrowed his eyes and said,
"From now on, you better not casually accept gifts from any man, even if it costs a fortune, or not! Also, anyone else besides me isn't allowed to touch your hair either! Do you understand?"
Trevor caressed the top of her head as he uttered those words. The man's actions were inappropriate! Also, the stuffed bunny that he gave her was such an eyesore! He thought.
It would be fine if he was simply coaxing a little girl, but Victoria was clearly not a child! Even from the beginning, his actions and expressions towards her were full of affection.
As she followed his eyes, Victoria noticed the doll hanging on her wrist. "Mr. Jordyn gave me this as a gift!" she said.
She raised her eyebrows and deliberately emphasized his identity. At the same time, her eyes were tinged with a trace of tease. "You don't seem to be behaving like how you normally would, Master Trevor!"
Shouldn't a playboy like him be very open-minded? Would it even cross his mind if Victoria received a gift from an elder? No, that wasn't the case. Deep down, he was simply a picky chauvinist!
Trevor narrowed his eyes and lowered his head as he quickly planted a kiss on her lips. "Mr. Jordyn is still a man!" He said with a low tone.
How dull was Victoria? Did she really not understand the meaning behind a diamond?
"What is going on in that head of yours? Mr. Jordyn is just my dad's best friend!" Did Trevor honestly take everyone else to be as lecherous as he was?
Pursing her lips, Victoria was clearly unhappy.
Trevor was speechless, he continuously poked her forehead and said, "Are your eyes just for show? Or are you a fool?" "What do you mean? Are you calling me blind and stupid?" "Well, you're not that stupid!" Trevor deliberately twirled her around for her to take a good look at the figure who stood still a few feet away from her.
At that moment, Victoria's eyes were fixed on Trevor, so she didn't notice the two people in the distance at all. All of a sudden, she swung her fist and punched him twice.
"You moron! You're a fool! I hate it when someone calls me a fool. Have you ever met a fool as beautiful as me? Ugh, don't ever call me that again! I'm the most well-behaved, cute, and beautiful woman you'll ever meet!"
She exclaimed as she turned her
head away from Trevor. Back in the days, Victoria used to be fair and chubby. Her male classmates would often pinch her cheeks and call her pig, which made her cry several times. As such, she starved herself
for countless days and Wing her
always throw a tantrum during her meals. Whenever her mother
brought food to her room, she would quietly throw them away. At one point, she even had a low
self-esteem.
Later on, her mother told her stories
which were similar to the ugly
duckling that turned into a swan. Besides that, she also told Victoria x that her classmates were simply teasing her. Little did she know that she would turn into beauty just like her mother. Every time when she was unhappy, she would simply look at her own reflection and convince herself that she was pretty. Gradually, she didn't care about her looks that much anymore.
That day, she had no idea why she was suddenly so insecure again!
Trevor was amused by the sight of Victoria's soliloquy and the proud look on her face. He then smiled and pulled her closer to him, "Oh, you're so cute! Sweetheart, take a look at the dance floor..."
As soon as he spoke, Victoria subconsciously turned her head and made a move. In an instant, Trevor quickly pulled her back and said, "Idiot!"
How did she dare to deny the fact that she was a fool? She didn't even think twice before acting! He thought.
"I simply told you to take a look and you did it so carelessly?" He said.
Victoria was too naive! Perhaps it was because of this attitude of hers that she would risk her life for a person like Anthony in the face of danger! Love was indeed fascinating, but it felt like she was always behaving like a moth that was drawn to the flame.
As Trevor fixed his eyes on her entrancing face, a sudden thought flashed across his mind. It would be a blessing if she was carrying a torch for him!
In the blink of an eye, Victoria immediately came back to her senses and her eyes swept her surroundings. Sensing that something was off, she wanted to turn around and take a look. That time, she was certain there was someone behind her.
Likewise, Trevor held her face and turned it around while he said, "So, do you believe me now?"
There was a sense of regret in the man's eyes, and it seemed like he had lost the person that he loved. Perhaps he did a job hiding his feelings for her, but no one was truly immune to it when it came to losing someone they loved.
Victoria pursed her lips and fell silent for a moment.
Although she doubted herself at first, yet her eyes inadvertently averted to her wrist. The thought of receiving a pink diamond was simply out of line. It was indeed the most expensive gift she had received on her wedding day!
The pink diamond was similar to the one on her finger and she liked it very much.
All of a sudden, a thought flashed across Victoria's mind. She couldn't recall how long Clarence had been single for, but she knew that he had always treated her well. Whenever he came to her house, he would definitely bring her some gifts. For some reasons, he had a knack for knowing what she wanted. In the past, her parents tried to set him and other women up together, yet nothing definite happened...
It couldn't be... Did he really have some sort of crush on her? Victoria pondered on that.
All these while, she had considered him as her uncle! She enjoyed being with him because of how close they were in age and his good-natured amiability. Moreover, he was her father's best friend. Whenever she was embarrassed to tell her father some things, she would secretly let Clarence handle it. Every time, he would protect her and speak up for you which made her feel secure. Just like when she decided to attend St. Abbott University in Bayton City instead of the Casterwich City's University that her family wanted her to. In the end, he had settled it for her!
Inexplicably, a strange feeling suddenly arose in her heart. Victoria looked at Trevor and couldn't help but let out a hollow laugh as she stuck her tongue out.
Trevor stroked her hair and merely remained quiet.
In that instant, a shiver ran down Victoria's spine and goosebumps were crawling all over her body. That was right! He liked to touch her hair like that too! She thought.
