Chapter 30
Chapter 30
Mikayla didn’t bother arguing with Jerome. She asked, “Have you reached a decision? Which will you sign?” Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
“It’s not easy to make a decision.” Jerome picked the documents up from the table and drawled, “Thus, I plan to let Grandpa have a look. Maybe he can offer me good advice.”
“You don’t have to choose anymore!” Mikayla reached out to stop him. “I’ll leave without a penny.”
Jerome looked down at her. “But I’m the wrongdoer in the marriage. If you take me to court, I’d have to give you more than 100 million dollars. Grandpa wouldn’t want to see you get the short end of the stick, would he?”
Mikayla was speechless. That asshole was using her words against her!
Jerome now had the higher ground. Him just standing in front of her made her feel pressured.
Pissed off, she stood up on the sofa. Looking down at Jerome, she barked, “Divorce is between the two of us. You’re insane if you take this to Grandpa!”
Jerome was clearly a head shorter than her now, but he was still just as imposing.
“Since you genuinely want to get divorced, why don’t you have the courage to tell him?”
“I-“Mikayla choked on her words.
Indeed, she didn’t dare to tell Eduard.
Eduard had high blood pressure and wouldn’t be able to withstand anything shocking.
Before this, she’d tested the waters and mentioned divorce, and Eduard had become worried sick. If Jerome brought the two sets of divorce papers to him, he might actually
be sick from the anger.
She planned to wait for the dust to settle and then find a suitable time to bring it up to
Eduard.
By that time, she would be able to prove that she could still live a happy life even after divorce. Then, she’d coquettishly ask for his forgiveness, and he’d be able to make peace
with it.
Seeing Mikayla seethe with anger but not being able to say anything, Jerome’s eyes filled
with scorn.
“Could it be that you never truly wanted to get divorced? You’re just using this as a front to prove your importance to me?”
“No way! I just want to get divorced quietly!”
Jerome sneered. “Mikayla, you can’t have it both ways in this world. You can’t break free from the bindings of marriage and get your piece of the pie at the same time.”
Mikayla could hear the underlying meaning in his words.
The Davidsons‘ main business was in perfumes, but they still had many relations and interactions with the Miller Group.
Many brands only agreed to collaborate with the Davidsons because of their relationship
with the Millers.
One move would trigger a domino effect.
If news of her divorce got out, it would affect the Davidsons‘ business.
Although this wasn’t the reason Mikayla didn’t want Grandpa to find out, Jerome’s words still made her pause.
She’d always thought of marriage as a simple thing. Since she didn’t love him anymore, then she should divorce him. However, she’d forgotten a very real problem.
“Last time, if Grandma hadn’t stopped us, we would’ve divorced long ago. So why are you refusing to sign the papers now?” Mikayla asked.
Jerome’s face was indifferent. “I don’t have the free time to listen to you cry wolf.”
Mikayla suddenly felt helpless. “What would it take for you to believe that I’m not playing with you and that I really want to get divorced?”
“If you get both our families together and discuss this in an amicable and peaceful way.”
Mikayla was at a loss for words.
She could try to convince Eduardo, but her uncle, Stephen Davidson, and her aunt, Matilda Thomas, would never agree.
“Jerome, why do you have to complicate things? Don’t you want to get divorced quickly so that you can make things official with Kylie?”
