Chapter 566 Don't Trust Albert

Chapter 566 Don't Trust Albert

At Zed's words, Adolf frowned and looked at him without saying a word.

The atmosphere suddenly became strange and silent. There was a hint of tension as well.

Zed gave Albert a smile on the corners of his mouth.

Back at Zed, Albert also had a smile with deep meaning and looked at them with some sympathy, as if

he still had enough tricks under his sleeve.

Adolf finally broke the silence. "You asked me why I was here, right?" He had a heavy voice and a

complicated expression. He cleared his throat before speaking again, "Tomorrow is the agreed time to

shoot advertisements for your company, so I have to come and see for myself how Avery is recovering.

I know I was a little tough on her, that's why I really need to check, so I can sleep in peace.

I had to, because this is my responsibility and my daily activity as her manager."

Zed was stunned after hearing Adolf.

He suddenly understood why Albert had just looked at him like that.

'I see.

Albert knows Adolf's style of working so well that he set up a trap for us to get in on our own, ' Zed

thought, feeling more and more impressed at Albert.

Zed turned to Avery before returning his attention to Adolf and asked, "Since that's the case, does

Avery know about your nightly habit?"

Avery shook her head, and her eyes turned a little red, making everyone glance at her.

Obviously, she didn't fully know what Adolf had done for her in private.

With an open and straightforward expression, Adolf answered Zed, "No, she doesn't know. Her sleep

quality is not very good, so I always wait until she falls asleep before I come to see her."

However, deep in his eyes, there was still a slight light that flashed across quickly and then dimmed.

His eyes returned to their original cold state at once.

Zed had been looking at Adolf, so he had not overlooked the subtle change in his eyes.

He frowned and continued to eye Adolf intently.

Adolf felt Zed's penetrating gaze and frowned back at him uncomfortably.

Unaffected by Adolf's cold expression, Zed looked at him and asked with a smile, "Since you said you

were here to see if Avery slept well, what about Albert and the two bodyguards? Are they also worried

about her, so they came and had a look?"

Adolf frowned deeper at Zed. "You did ask a good question, Zed." He turned to the three people

standing near him, and asked them with doubt, "Albert, haven't you gone back to rest? And you two,

didn't I ask you to keep watch at the door of her room?"

One of the bodyguards moved forward and rushed to explain, "Boss, as soon as we saw the two men

sneaking into Miss Avery's ward, we were about to stop them and inform you, but then Albert suddenly

appeared. He told us just to stop them in front of the hospital gate, since he said you would be there

soon."

When Adolf heard the words, his eyes immediately fell on Albert. "Albert, why are you here in the first

place?"

"Well, I was sad and upset to see your relationship with Avery become so rigid during the day, so I

tossed and turned for a long time and finally decided to come and talk to Avery, but I didn't expect..."

He paused intentionally, looking at Zed and the other two.

With her eyes opened wide and mouth gaped, Avery stared at Albert in shock.

It was as if she had never known the person in front of her. This wasn't the Albert she knew, and

apparently, this was his true nature.

'Jesus! How can Albert lie so easily without even thinking it over?

Will he be sad?

Or will he be upset?

Oh, of course, that must be a joke. As a matter of fact, he is eager for Adolf to scold me harder in order

to get me away from Adolf as soon as possible, ' Avery thought mockingly, rolling her angry eyes at

Albert.

However, Adolf obviously believed Albert's excuse. He looked at Albert with a faint smile and felt

relieved. "Fortunately, you're here tonight, Albert. Otherwise, I don't know how serious things will

become tomorrow."

Before Albert could reply back with another lie, Avery hurriedly cut him off. "Adolf, how could you trust

Albert? He is clearly lying to you!"

Adolf's eyes stared sharply at Avery at once. He then asked coldly, "What did you say?" An unhappy

and disappointed expression appeared on his face.

Trying to distract Adolf from Avery, Zed immediately butted in, "Well, Adolf, you heard Avery.

So I'd like to ask you, who do you believe more about tonight? Avery or your twin brother Albert?"

Adolf did not expect Zed to ask such a question, but he immediately covered his astonishment and

gave a sneer. "It's not a question of whom I believe more. I don't have to answer you."

"You can't answer, or you don't want to answer at all? They're two different things, Adolf." Zed also

smiled coldly. Both men were surprisingly well-matched in strength at this moment.

Adolf immediately got furious. "What did you say?"

"You know, you've been asking to repeat a lot lately. Maybe you should clean your ears. Either way, I

feel like laughing at you. As a well-known top manager, how can you not believe Vikki, the international

superstar you have carefully cultivated? What about her? Have you ever considered her feelings? In

return for your efforts, she sacrificed her freedom, feelings, and even left all her time for you to arrange.

Adolf, if Avery doesn't trust you completely like this, do you think you both will have the status you have

today? Do you think both of you would have reached this point in stardom? But now, can you imagine

how Avery, who trusts you wholeheartedly, would feel now that you don't believe her, and instead

believe in your brother, who is a scumbag liar?"

Zed finished, pointing to Albert with frustration and disdain.

"He's my brother. We grew up together, so why can't I believe him? Besides, I didn't say I didn't believe

Avery!"

Adolf immediately retorted angrily. His fists were starting to clench beside him.

Zed smirked and looked at him with cold eyes. "If that's the case, did you really believe what she just

said?"

"What did she..." Adolf stopped as he suddenly thought of something. His face turned to realization,

frowning deeper.

Adolf meditated for a moment, trying to recall Avery's words. Then, he remembered Avery mentioning

something about a secret of Albert, but he still didn't understand the words Avery had just said.

Sensing his brother's silence, Albert knew Adolf was thinking about it, and it made him anxious and

angry. "Brother, don't listen to him, and just listen to me. He is just trying to turn us against each other."

Meanwhile, Avery's eyes were fixed on Albert again with a mocking look.

Albert's hypocrisy and trickery made her realize the cruelty of reality once again, and that there were

really wolves out there, wearing sheep's clothing.

When did Albert, who cared so much about her, become so intent on pushing her away from Adolf?

Was it just because she caught him looking at Adolf that night with murderous eyes?

Or, did he still have other purposes?

Thinking, Avery looked desperate. She looked at Albert and shook her head, sighing helplessly under

her breath.

On the other hand, Adolf frowned when he heard Albert's words. He didn't think Zed was such a

meddler.

Then, he looked sharply at Avery, just in time to see her desperate expression. Somehow, his heart

sank.

He gazed deeply at Avery, not understanding why she showed such an expression.

'What exactly did Albert do to disappoint Avery so much?

Secret?

What secret could it be that made Albert target Avery like this?'

Adolf thought. He couldn't decide who to help after realizing that Avery and Albert were tangled up in a

complicated situation. 'Who can tell me what I should do?' he wondered desperately.

Adolf's face for the first time showed a conflicting expression. He remained silent and kept his mouth

shut, pondering the situation carefully. One wrong move could be the end of him.

Zed and Moore exchanged looks. They saw the expression on Adolf's face and knew that although

Adolf did not ask, he definitely had noticed that what Avery had just said was a little strange.

They were uncertain as to whom Adolf trusted more and whether he wanted to know more of what ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

Avery had just blurted out. The outcome of the matter just ultimately depended on these two points.

Then again, according to Albert's cunning character, he certainly would not let Adolf know that he had

hatred against him.

Moreover, Adolf's silence and hesitation showed that he did not know yet who to trust for the time

being, so this matter would certainly not be resolved easily today.

On the other hand, Jean was still waiting for them at home and would certainly be worried if they took

longer than expected. She might even come here to check for herself. With this in mind, Zed took a

look at Avery. Suddenly, he thought of a way out and decided to solve it quickly.

By this time, Avery's strong emotions were slowly starting to fade. She felt Zed's gaze at her, so she

raised her head in his direction.

Seeing how Zed looked at her that way, Avery asked in a low voice, "What's wrong, Zed?"
