Arrogant Man VS Unyielding Woman

Chapter 391 Toby's Protection

Chapter 391 Toby's Protection

"Now that Zed asked you to protect me, my asking you back will just make you fall into an

embarrassing situation. So I think it is much better for me to accept the fact of your existence willingly,"

Jean said in a casual tone. After waiting for a moment, she continued," Do you know why I decided to

accept you?"

Toby shook his head heavily. Puzzlement crossed all over his face.

"Toby, I don't know your real relationship with Zed. But I want to warn you that you are sent to protect

me hence this is my business. You are invading my privacy. So you should know what kind of thing you

can report to Zed and what you can't," said Jean with a serious look.

"I don't understand what you are trying to say. What do you mean? Are you saying I shouldn't report

things to Mr. Zed?" Toby asked with an honest look of confusion.

"For example, I will go to the Wen Group today which you shouldn't report to Zed. In short, I don't want

you to report to Zed unimportant details."

Jean stared at Toby while she ordered.

Toby was immediately taken aback. Seconds later, he came to his senses and said," My duty is just to

ensure your safety and it doesn't include gossiping. So if it doesn't threaten your safety, I will not report

and interfere."

"Great." A big smile crept onto Jean's face when she heard Toby's words. In truth, she expected him to

defy her. Now she looked at him and said," I admire smart people and you are among them. Toby, you

also know that the relationship between me and the people from the Wen family is quite terrible. And it

is more than dangerous for me to go to the Wen Group. So I am going to keep you by my side because

I really need your protection."

Actually, Jean hadn't found the truth about her mother's death. So she didn't want to fall into trouble

again and risk her life before finding out the real cause of that tragedy.

Now that Zed had already sent Toby to protect her, she decided to make good use of him.

"I can understand your meaning. So I will try my best to keep you safe," said Toby respectfully.

Jean nodded to show her contentment for his reply. "Then that's our deal. My safety relies on your

protection from now on. It is too late now so I am going to my room and have a good rest. There are a

lot of spare rooms and you can choose whichever you like to sleep."

As she finished her words, she yawned while walking toward her room.

The look on her face was totally different from the serious look she had worn a couple of seconds ago.

Toby, on the other hand, remained still with puzzlement on his face. He watched Jean walk into her

room and then quickly took out his phone to call Zed.

Quickly, he filled Zed in with what Jean had asked him to do. He also told Zed that she said she

needed his protection.

After disconnecting the call, Zed stood in front of the window and stared at the darkness outside. He

did nothing but smoked quietly.

He thought to himself, 'Jean, you asked Toby to stand out and protect you. What on earth do you want

to do?'

Something seemed to strike Zed as he walked to his writing desk and picked up a phone that was

apparently used by a woman. He played with the phone in his hand and suddenly his eyes started to

shine.

The next morning, Jean came out looking happy and excited. After a quick wash, she made a simple

breakfast for two and asked Toby to sit down and enjoy it with her. Finishing the breakfast, she looked

completely energetic.

As she was about to go out, she stopped to look at Toby. "First, I need you to accompany me to the

hospital and then we will go to the Wen Group."

"Ok, Mrs. Jean," Toby said in a voice of respect.

"I think that you'd better stop calling me Mrs. Jean. It sounds a little strange, don't you think so?" Jean

finished putting on her shoes and looked at Toby before raising such a request.

"Then what should I call you, Mrs. Jean?" Obviously, Toby was amazed at Jean's request so he asked

perplexedly.

"Ms. Wen is Ok." Just when she finished her words and opened the door, a familiar figure came into

her view. The immediate reaction she could give was to look back at Toby, who was following behind

her.

Noticing the gaze on him, Toby felt perplexed and looked ahead, finding that his boss Zed was leaning

against the door of an expensive yet low-pitched sports car. Toby's indifferent face now had a small

smile playing around its corner.

There was both astonishment and amazement since Toby had not expected that Zed would take such

a quick action.

Zed saw Jean come out and the laziness showed on his face immediately dissipated. His face lit up

and he stood straight shifting his gaze to Jean.

However, Jean's face darkened at that moment. She ignored Zed and was about to walk forward.

Not wanting to lose her, Zed quickly stretched his hands to stop her from going. Now she was trapped

in his arms. He saw that she was glaring at him and gnashing her teeth. It was obvious that his

presence had put her into a sour mood. And Zed realized with sadness that Jean was still angry at him.

Thinking about this, Zed immediately wore an ingratiating smile and his expression softened. "Where

do you want to go?" he asked sounding concerned. "I can drive you there," he added.

"Zed..." Jean couldn't stand him anymore, so she gave him an angry look before she spoke. "Do you

remember what I said to you yesterday? And you also promised me that you would leave me three

days to calm myself down. So why are you here today? Do you really want me to be totally

disappointed at you? Are you going to be happy only after that?" Jean replied with gritted teeth.

"Jean, calm down. Please don't be angry." Seeing that Jean was about to lose temper, Zed showed a

miserable and defeated expression. "The reason I am here is that our grandpa has some words for

you, so I am going to convey his words. After I finish this, I will not bother you anymore."

"Just now you said that you wanted to give me a drive. Do you think that I will believe you if you use Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.

grandpa as an excuse?" Jean sneered when she heard what Zed had just uttered.

"But I am indeed here to convey our grandpa's words." Now Zed had lost all hopes of making Jean

happy. He realized her anger wouldn't calm down any time soon.

Jean was uncertain whether to believe his words. Finally, she sighed and gave up her resolution. She

looked at him with her cold eyes and asked," What are his words? Spill it out quickly. And after you

finish conveying grandpa's words, you must not appear in front of me again."

Hearing Jean's cruel words, Toby, who was standing behind her, felt quite sorry for Zed and gave him a

sorrowful glance.

'Mr. Zed, I have not expected that you could bow down so low when facing Mrs. Jean, ' Toby thought.

"Grandpa wanted me to tell you that although he didn't have a good impression of you right at the

beginning, he now realizes that you are a good and kind girl. Getting to know you more has changed

his opinion about you. In the afternoon, he will fly back to the Imperial City and he wishes to see you

before he leaves. I am afraid that grandpa doesn't intend to visit us anytime soon, so this may be your

last chance."

As he finished his words, a bitter smile crossed his face.

"What?" Jean's eyes widened as she heard what Zed had just said. She looked at him with a startled

expression. "Why is grandfather leaving so soon? He said that..."

As she was speaking, she seemed to realize something.

She thought quietly in her heart, 'The reason grandpa is in a hurry to leave must have something to do

with my conflict with Zed.

However, Jesse is to be blamed for all of this.

Now that grandpa is leaving for the Imperial City, it means that Grandpa Dan and Jesse will also leave

with him.

So...

Grandpa hopes that I can make up with Zed as soon as possible.

However, grandpa, you don't know that the problem between us is not that simple. Jesse won't give up

on Zed so easily and I have no idea of Zed's feeling towards her.'

Jean looked rather upset and sighed heavily inside her heart. "You should tell grandpa that I will come

to see him," she replied trying to keep a straight face.

Zed heard Jean's reply and immediately got relieved. He smiled and said," This news is going to make

him really happy. He is looking forward to seeing you."

"No, I actually feel responsible. I didn't accompany him to have fun and most of the times the trips were

cut short because of me. I feel quite guilty and sorry for that," said Jean as she sighed heavily.

Zed noticed the sadness on her face and couldn't help but comfort her. "Jean, if you don't want

grandpa to leave, you can go to persuade him. I believe that he will listen to you."

"Although I feel reluctant to let grandpa leave, why should I go to persuade him? After all, he is not my

grandpa," Jean said unpleasantly.

"Jean..." When Zed heard Jean say that his grandpa was not her grandpa, he was immediately

infuriated and anger made its way to his face. "My grandpa is also your grandpa. Although you don't

want to talk to me now, you have no right to be angry with him because of me..."

"Well, that's not what I mean. You are taking the wrong meaning of my words." Now Jean frowned a

little and realized her mistake. "So are you done with your speech?" Jean asked looking straight into

Zed's eyes.
