Arrogant Man VS Unyielding Woman

Chapter 361 Did You Come To Pick Me Up

Chapter 361 Did You Come To Pick Me Up

"I wonder why he's here," she said out loud and her hiccups suddenly stopped.

Moore noticed this unusual change and glanced at Jean, whose eyes sparkled at the sight of her

husband. He asked,"Are you nervous seeing him?"

Jean raised a brow as if thinking about it for a moment, and then she looked at him and answered. "Of

course not." Shaking her head, she gave him a smile before turning towards the door and opened it in

a rush. Her right leg was out of the car, and her other leg was still inside when she turned towards

Zed's direction and called out to him. "Zed!" She waved as Zed saw her, and as she got out of the car,

she shouted,"Did you come to pick me up?"

Moore just watched Jean getting out of the car as if she couldn't afford to waste any more time. He felt

a pang of ache inside of his chest, and the emotion he was now familiar with as jealousy filled him. He

was silent for a moment that if not for the taxi driver who called out to him, he would have had forgotten

that he was still in the car. After paying the driver, he got off the car and just stood there without

catching up with Jean in a hurry. He wanted to give them some time to talk alone even just for a

second. Although he wasn't sure if 'want' was the appropriate term.

Meanwhile, Zed couldn't help but smile after seeing Jean got out of the car happily and in a rush

without hiding her excitement to be with him.

An hour and a half ago, because he had been waiting for her too long, his patience started to wear thin.

However, he had forgotten his anger the moment he saw Jean, safe and sound, smiling at him with

those beautiful eyes.

Then again, he couldn't help but be too worried for her. "Why didn't you answer your phone?" He asked

as soon as she was now arm's length in front of him.

Jean's eyes widened. "You called me? How come I didn't hear?" She said and immediately rummaged

through her bag for her mobile phone. After searching and opening all the pockets of her bag, she still

hadn't found it, so she frowned. "Where is my phone? Odd. I remember placing my phone here a few

minutes ago," she told Zed without looking at him and kept her attention to her bag.

Moore decided to walk towards them after seeing Jean rummaging something in her bag. Zed noticed

his presence first, so Moore greeted him. "Hello, Mr. Qi."

"Hello, Moore," Zed greeted back politely, nodding once at him.

"What is she looking for?" Moore asked Zed curiously, but his gaze was towards Jean, who started to

look helpless.

"She couldn't find her phone," Zed explained, noticing how Moore stared at Jean with great concern.

"Perhaps, it got stolen in the night market," Moore suggested. With this thought, Moore couldn't help

but be surprised by the fact that there were really stealthy thieves there, so he frowned along with

Jean.

Considering what Moore had said, Jean stopped rummaging and looked out of nowhere, stunned for a

moment. Coming back to her senses, she turned towards Moore and said miserably,"I must be really

numb to not be able to feel or even be aware that my phone got stolen by a thief."

Moore's frown changed to sympathy and then he quickly thought of something. "Check if there are

other things that got stolen," he said to Jean, hesitating whether to move towards her and help her

rummage her bag, but he stopped himself from doing so, remembering that Zed was now with them.

Jean nodded her head. "Oh! You're right!" She quickly lowered her head to her bag once more and

checked her things. After a moment, she held a black card on her right hand and said with joy and

relief,"Fortunately, the card wasn't stolen. Otherwise, Zed, I wouldn't be able to meet you in the eyes

again, and I would be full of shame."

Zed shook his head at Jean and sighed helplessly. "It would actually be a great help if he or she stole

the card, so we could catch the thief easily. The thief must have been smart enough not to steal it."

Jean looked at him confused, while Moore nodded at him. He, too, had the same thought as he

realized the card was not stolen.

"I don't understand. Why is it helpful?" With a puzzled look, Jean asked as she noticed that Moore

nodded in agreement. She realized that she was the only one who didn't get it.

"Well, there are only ten black cards in the whole H City. That's how exclusive these cards are, and all

of them are protected by the bank with the highest level of security possible. Regardless of who stole

the card, as long as he or she starts using it, his or her private information would be soon notified to

me," Zed explained, crossing his arms on his chest and leaned on his car again.

Jean nodded slowly and was enlightened by this new information. All her fears about losing it faded

away. She now found her moments of anxiousness laughable now.

'No wonder Zed knew when I withdrew 100, 000 dollars in the hospital.

The black card does have such a great function, ' she thought in awe.

Zed stood up straight once again and dusted his hands. "Well then," he said, turning to Moore. "Thank

you for taking care of Jean during this period of time. I apologize for any inconvenience."

He gave Moore a smile and reached out a hand towards him.

Moore was a little taken aback at this gesture but immediately regained. He accepted Zed's hand and

shook it. He smiled at Zed and said in response,"You are welcome. Besides, Jean and I are friends.

You don't have to be so formal about it. There is seriously nothing to worry about."

Zed nodded. "In the future, if you face any problem or difficulty, you can call me. As long as it is within

my power, I will be willing to help," he offered in a serious tone, making Moore shocked at this

proposition. He always felt like Zed didn't like him, but after hearing this, maybe he had judged too

early.

"Mr. Qi, as much as I appreciate your offer, I don't think I can accept it without feeling ashamed.

Besides, it is late now. You and Jean should probably start heading back," Moore insisted, still feeling a

little embarrassed.

"Okay then," Zed agreed. He turned to Jean. "We should go now."

"Drive carefully," Moore told Zed, who nodded at him before opening the door of the car and getting in.

Moore then turned to Jean and waved at her.

Jean looked at Moore. She wanted to make sure that he was brought back to his room safely, but she

knew that no matter how she insisted into escorting him back, he would just keep telling her no.

Besides, she already made Zed wait long enough. With a little reluctance, she said,"Moore, thank you

for the time today, but you really must take good care of yourself, okay? When I have some time to

spare, I will visit you. Also, as soon as the doctor informs you that you could be discharged, make sure

to call me right away, or I will be really angry at you." Jean furrowed her eyebrows at him but with

concern.

"I will," Moore replied before giving her a bitter smile.

Satisfied with that response, Jean smiled at him and got on the car. After she closed the door, Zed

started the ignition. Jean turned to her window and saw that Moore was still standing on the same spot.

She pressed the button for her window to go down and waved at Moore. "Go inside now, and have a

rest."

With a smile, Moore nodded in response. He hesitated for a moment before turning his back and

walked towards the hospital's main entrance.

Jean pressed the button again and waited for the window to go back up. Zed then drove the car

forward. Moore stopped right in front of the hospital door and looked back at the retreating car. Feeling

misery building inside of him, he sighed and entered, trying to shrug them away.

In the car, Jean leaned back on the leather chair exhausted and heaved out a long sigh. Although her

phone got stolen, and her body felt like breaking down, she had fun today, and all her worries were

worth it.

Zed noticed this and asked,"Are you very tired?" He gave her a quick glance, concerned about her

welfare at the moment. "Why did you go to the night market, knowing you'll get worn out? Furthermore,

there are so many different kinds of people there. Most of them aren't trustworthy and full of deceit. No

wonder your phone got stolen."

"Zed, please," Jean said pathetically. "I know that you don't want to go to those kinds of places. That's

why I asked Moore to go with me. I'm sorry I wasn't on guard enough that my phone got stolen.

Because of that, I am honestly downtrodden for losing such an important device and wasn't able to

answer your calls. So please, I beg you, can you just let it go for once and stop being angry right now?"

Jean said, looking at Zed with such cute and longing eyes that Zed couldn't help but sigh.

"Okay, but you are not allowed to go there anymore," Zed demanded without looking at her, keeping a Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.

straight face.

Jean turned to face him. "Why?" She pouted. "You don't know how tasty the food there are. I have

eaten a lot of food today, making me very full to the point that I started hiccupping." After saying this,

she realized something. "Speaking of which, when did I stop hiccupping?"

She asked in awe and wonder.

As Zed glanced at Jean's puzzled look, he couldn't help but smile at how cute and weird she was at the

same time. He shook his head and returned his attention on the road.

When Jean didn't speak again and was too lost in thought, Zed spoke again. "You should know that the

food in those stalls are often very unsanitary. I don't want you getting sick because of the food there, so

I beg of you as well, you are not to go back there anymore," He ordered, worried about his wife.

He thought of the news he had watched a few days ago. It was reported that the stalls often used ditch

oil or most of the time, they used the same oil that they had been using without replacing them for

days, maybe even weeks that it grew so dark and really murky. Also, some vendors bought products

from small processing plants, which were not usually fresh and not to mention that carcinogenic

chemicals were added to these products.

That was why Zed was so determined not to allow Jean to go to any night market and eat food from

stalls there.

Jean kept her pout on her face. She knew that Zed had already made up his mind, and there was no

use trying to change it. With an unhappy expression, she said coldly,"You are a tyrant." She rolled her

eyes and turned her eyes out of the window on her side.

Seeing her unhappy, Zed sighed and said,"You should know that I always think about what is good for

you, Jean."

"I know, but it's just that, I don't eat there often anyway. I think it won't matter that I eat there once in a

while," she replied, starting to lose her temper.

He gave her a quick and helpless glance. At this point, he knew that if he continued to argue with her,

he would just be adding more fuel to the fire that was now building between them.

Knowing her attitude, he also knew that she was close-minded when she's angry, and that she wouldn't

accept any word of explanation coming from him.

With these thoughts in mind, he had no choice but to keep his mouth shut.

As the tension between them grew, they finally reached their house. Zed drove the car into the garage

of their house, and as soon as he turned the engine off, Jean immediately got off the vehicle and

rushed inside the house without waiting for or looking back at him. Because of this, Zed shook his head

and sighed.

As he entered the house and stopped in the foyer to change his shoes, before he could even remove

them, he suddenly heard Jean's scream coming from the living room.

Fear filled the house as the scream was loud enough to break the silence of the night.

As soon as he heard the first few seconds of his wife's scream, he didn't waste any time and ran

quickly towards her without even changing his shoes, worried that something might have had

happened to Jean.

When he reached the living room, he stopped. He immediately caught sight of Jean and rushed

towards her. She was shaking in fear, looking at something in front of her. Zed's gaze followed the

direction of her stare and finally realized why she screamed. He placed an arm around her, not knowing

what to do except mutter her name.
