Chapter 342 The Confrontation

"Of course I came back. I wanted to see the show!" With a poker-face, Benjamin walked right up to Zed

and continued,"Look at the kind of girl you married. She is causing so much trouble for you and

destroying your reputation."

"Grandpa." Zed anxiously tried to explain,"Jean is being vilified here. She's not the kind of person you

think she is."

Benjamin's response was cold and defiant. "Thank you. I have eyes and I can clearly see the kind of

person she is. Were she perfect, no one would have any evidence against her, and no one would try to

undermine her status. No matter what you think, your wife brought all these troubles herself."

Zed looked at him with a bitter smile and replied,"You shouldn't say things like that, Grandpa. And to

tell the truth, I am the one who caused these hurdles. If I hadn't married her, she would be all fine right

now."

Benjamin's beard shook with rage and his eyes split wide open. He strongly disagreed with Zed and

wasn't hesitant to tell him so. "OK, all right. Even if I agree that the scandal that ensued because of that

video was your fault. But now...? Ethan is her former lover and he said that he loved her in front of so

many people. Did that happen because of you too? You heard him as clearly as I did. He didn't care

what Jean had done and merely wanted her to come back in his life. See? That's the problem with

today's youth. Jean is married to you but Ethan still wants to be with her. What the hell is wrong with

him?"

Zed simply smiled a bitter smile. He had no idea how to explain the situation to his grandfather.

He wondered to himself, 'Grandpa should have been home and resting by now.

Why did he suddenly come back here?

It seems like someone planned and thought these things through completely tonight. And the only

wants to frame me or smear my name, I am not going to remain silent. If anyone wants to accuse me of

something, just stand out and say it to my face."

When Ethan saw Benjamin was back, he stopped panicking and just fondly stared at Jean. "Jean, I'm

just telling the truth here. How could you even say something like that? Why would I be trying to smear

your name?"

Jean glared at Ethan and coldly replied,"Get that disgusting look off your face, Ethan. And if you truly

love me, then tell me this in front of everyone right here. Tell me who directed this little charade of

yours. And if you can't say that right now, then I clearly know that you don't love me!"

There was both sadness and confusion on Ethan's face. He looked shocked and stared at her, trying to

defend himself. "Jean, why do you think that someone is setting you up? I love you so much. Do I need

anyone else to tell me what I should do? Do you mean to say that all these things are fake? Don't you

believe in me? Why are you looking at me so strangely like that? I can't believe you are the Jean I met.

I can't believe you're the person you used to be."

Jean kept staring at him coldly and wanted to see what he would say next. "Go on. Keep performing

Ethan. I really want to see when you will stop this one-man show."

Maranda felt anxious and couldn't help but murmur,"What should we do?" What she saw was telling

her that this Ethan was a shameless person and Jean couldn't be a match for him.

Zed looked up at her and then glanced at Ron and Calvin.

Unlike Maranda, both Ron and Calvin weren't showing any obvious worries, but they were also staring

at Jean and watching what was going on.

Zed frowned in his confusion.

Ron finally comforted Maranda in a conciliatory tone,"Don't worry. Remember that Jean has been with

him and she knows his weakness. She is daring enough to face Ethan now, so I'm sure she'll be able to

stop him from talking much nonsense."

"Really?" Maranda's eyes shone. She was relieved and continued,"I know Jean is smart, so she can

handle this person."

"Jean..." Ethan sadly stared at his former lover and fondly continued in a sad tone,"How could you

change so much? Why are you doing this to me? Why? Why?"

Jean looked in disgust at Ethan and felt goosebumps due to his nastiness.

She was getting the feeling that Ethan had wasted his talent pursuing drama as he hadn't been a real

actor.

What he was saying and the way he was saying it was more emotional and touching than a tragic

heroine on TV soaps.

At that moment, her phone rang, announcing a text.

Although she was in no mood to check her phone during such a confrontation, Ethan's disgusting

efforts had made her sick to the stomach and she didn't want to look at him.

So she took out her phone and casually read the text message.

She was in such a bad mood right now that if the message had been spam, she would have called

back and gave the texter a piece of her mind. It would have been a good target practice in confronting

Ethan.

me?"

Ethan replied,"Of course, I do. Jean, Gods know how deeply I love you." Ethan thought that Jean was

finally touched by his endless sweet-talk, so he hastily nodded his head.

Jean stared at him with a complex look and repeated his words,"Gods know?" Ethan kept nodding his

head. But Jean laughed and looked around at the people surrounding them, saying,"You guys all heard

what Ethan just said to me. Do you believe him?"

Nobody there affirmed her question and neither did anyone say no. They were just watching the whole

performance.

Benjamin's face was white with rage and said,"Zed, look! In such a terrible situation, she still has the

heart to interact with other people and ask them such meaningless questions."

Zed comforted him,"Grandpa, don't panic. I know Jean. She just got a text and I believe that the text

meant something to her." He believed in Jean.

Jean also saw that Zed was looking at her, so she looked back and gave him a smile.

Maranda was shocked and asked,"Are you sure?"

"Yes. I am." Zed nodded his head firmly.
