An Unbreakable Addiction

Billionaire Add 25

"Get some sleep. Mia will make her own decisions. There's no need for you to worry about her," Hunter said, tucking the blanket around Jenna before adding, "It's late. I'll crash on the couch for a bit."

His tone was indifferent, making it hard for Jenna to read him. Resigned, she let it go.

"Okay, you should rest then. I'm going to sleep too." With that, she closed her eyes.

Hunter stood by her bedside for a moment before quietly leaving the room.

As soon as the door clicked shut, Jenna opened her eyes. "Mia, just wait. I'll make sure Hunter is mine," she silently remarked.

Outside the room, Hunter was already on the phone with Sam.

When Mia woke up, the sterile smell of disinfectant filled the air. She frowned slightly, "Why am I in the hospital again?"

"Mia, you're awake! Are you feeling okay anywhere?" Summer's voice broke through her thoughts as she entered the room, holding a bag of food. It looked like she had gone out to grab breakfast for her.

"What happened to me?" Mia asked, trying to piece together what had occurred. The last thing she remembered was Jenna's venomous words. Everything after that was a blur.

"Your forehead wound got wet and became infected, and on top of that, you were out in the rain, which caused you to pass out from the fever," Summer said, walking over and placing the bag on the nightstand. She set up the tray on the bed. "I had to call 911 and rush you to the hospital. Luckily, you're okay now. But if anything had happened to you, I swear I would've gone after that bastard Hunter with a knife!"

Seeing Summer's fiery expression, Mia had no doubt that she meant every word.

Summer caught Mia's gaze and quickly apologized, "Mia, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have brought him up. I just couldn't control myself."

Summer thought to herself, "How could anyone not lose their temper knowing Mia had been left stranded on the highway like that?"

If it weren't for the whole ordeal with Jenna almost getting Mia arrested, Summer would have stormed over to tear into Hunter the minute Mia came out of the ER.

Summer thought about how hard she had tried to protect Mia, only for her to be treated so horribly. Who the hell could hold back from going crazy?

"What did the doctor say? How's the baby?" Mia asked, her concern focused on the child. She had never known what it was like to feel loved by her parents, and she wanted to give this baby all the love and warmth she had missed out on.

"The baby's fine, but the cut on your forehead might leave a scar." Summer's heart sank at the thought of Mia's beautiful face being marred. "But don't worry, we can do some cosmetic treatments later to get rid of it."All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

Mia reached up to touch the bandage on her forehead and smiled. "It's fine. My hair will cover it up anyway. No need to waste money on that."

She thought, "Besides, someone who doesn't love me wouldn't start loving me just because of my face."

"Let's not talk about it anymore. How about we eat first?" Summer said, quickly setting up breakfast on

the tray.

Once the food was laid out, they began to eat. Afterward, Summer started tidying up when the sound of a phone ringing interrupted them.

Mia glanced at the nightstand. It wasn't her phone ringing.

Summer nudged her, "Your phone's ringing. Go ahead and answer it."

Mia picked up the phone, momentarily confused.

"Your phone got smashed last night, remember? I bought you a new one," Summer reminded her.
