EPISODE 2 Dinner on Sunday
CLEVELAND HOSPITAL
Doctor Meagan was taking a short break at the hospital cafeteria late Friday afternoon after attending to several patients. She dropped her spoon to pick up her cellphone and skimmed through her messages on WhatsApp. There are several messages from known groups but just one message caught her eyes.
“Hi Meagan, how are you doing? I have great news to share with you! So call me whenever you are less busy!” Her best friend, Hazel had texted two days ago.
Meagan Swift is a busy woman, who has made her job her first priority in life and she rarely has time for social media. To Meagan Swift, saving lives matters and it comes first before anything else.
Meagan knew Hazel, her best friend of over fifteen years would be so mad at her right now for not replying her text messages.
“I should call her back before she threatens to rip off my head.” Meagan mumbled. She scrolled to her contacts to call Hazel.
“Hello Meagan,” a familiar masculine voice said.NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.
Meagan looked up and found Ethan smiling at her.
“Can I join you?” Ethan asked, standing right there with a tray filled with food in his hand.
“Ethan-”
“Can I join you please?” He repeated.
“Sure, please join me… Ethan.” Meagan stuttered.
Ethan Roberts is also a medical doctor at the popular Cleveland hospital. Aside the fact that Cleveland hospital belongs to Ethan’s family, he is one of the best doctors. Rumors have it that he got to be the director of the hospital at a young age because he is the first son. But it wasn’t true. Ethan truly deserved the position.
Ethan Roberts graduated as one of the best medical students in Northwestern University which is the best school of medicine in the United state of America.
Meagan met Ethan first year in medical school. He was two years ahead of her. She had accidentally bumped into him on her way out of the cafeteria. Ethan apologized for not paying attention on the road ahead as he tapped away on his cellphone. The shy and nerdy Ethan Roberts had asked for her number and also asked to be friends with her. And Meagan couldn’t turn him down because he had asked politely, he didn’t look like a bad boy plus she knew who he was on campus.
“The genius Ethan Roberts.”
She had heard girls whispering about him and how much he loved to help junior students study and who are willing to learn.
Meagan felt it wasn’t a bad idea to have a senior like him help her out with studying in college. And she never regretted her decision to be friends with him. Ethan is a cool guy! Any woman could find herself melting at his charming smile and the sound of his voice.
Ethan really helped Meagan in school and she grew so comfortable around him. They became so close to the point that students gossiped about them having an affair. But in the real sense, Ethan has never made any advances towards Meagan.
Although over the years, Ethan grew fond of Meagan and he realized that he is in love with her. But Ethan feared that confessing his feelings to Meagan would ruin the close bond and friendship. And it was obvious that Meagan doesn’t have any feelings for Ethan.
“So what are you doing this weekend?” Ethan asked as he munched on his potatoes.
Meagan looked up from her cellphone. “This weekend?” She repeated.
“Yeah.. I am off work on Sunday. And I am sure it is your day off too.” Ethan said. He had taken out time to check the hospital’s roaster for the weekend to be sure that Meagan was off work. And there won’t be any chance for her to make excuses.
“Yeah… it is a day off for me.” Meagan took a hasty swallow on the glass of water as she read another message from her best friend.
“Call me right now!” Hazel texted adding an angry emoji after the last word.
“Perfect timing-” Ethan studied her beautiful face as she focused on her cellphone.
Meagan wasn’t paying attention to him anymore. “Meagan-” he called.
“Huh?” Meagan head snapped up to look at him. “Oh! You were saying something about -” she paused trying to remember his last few words to her.
“Dinner on Sunday.” Ethan filled her in.
“Oh! Yeah Dinner…” her phone vibrated, another message from Hazel.
“I am ripping off your head from your body when next we meet again!” And this time she added a sword-like emoji.
“What are you looking at on your phone?” Ethan asked.
“I just got a message from my best friend.” Meagan stood up from the chair. “I need to call her right now.” She said.
“And what about the dinner on Sunday?” Ethan asked.
“I don’t have any plans yet for the weekend except for work on Saturday but I am free on Sunday. So I will give you a call if I can make it.” Meagan rushed out her words.
Her cellphone beeped. “Okay I will-” she rushed off before Ethan could say his next words.

Meagan stepped into her office and picked Hazel’s call on the second ring. “Meagan, how dare you treat me this way?! I have been nothing but good to you over the years! So why do you tend to forget me and even worst you toss me aside like a piece of trash!” Hazel screamed over the phone almost deafening Meagan’s ear drum.
“Hazel-”
“What do you have to say this time?!” Meagan put the phone away from her ear as she settled in the swivel chair in the office. She clicked on the screen to turn on the speaker.
Her best friend has been a drama queen since they were little girls. “What excuse do you want to give to me this time around?!” Hazel asked with annoyance still clear in her tone.
“I am sorry… Hazel. I got -”
Hazel interrupted her. “… busy with work and I didn’t have all the time to access my phone.” Hazel completed Meagan’s intended statement.
