Attack by intruder
Celine’s POV:
Ava, Alpha Kristian, Lycan king and Queen, Beta Remy, the elders and even Alpha Tyrion waited for my answer because everyone was curious and shocked that all the shifters had joined me back to the borders.
I couldn’t tell them what the Lioness told me in the woods because it might be wrong and I didn’t want to be at danger of anything by giving the greedy wolves an idea that I might have a weird power to attract the shifters.
“I helped the lioness in the woods and she decided to help me by coming here with her friends. ” I told them, most importantly to Alpha Tyrion who nodded to my answer even though he knew the truth was different.
The silence still loomed over everyone and Zayra raised her brows in confusion. I blinked twice without anyone noticing me and she gave me a slight nod.
“Yes, this Luna is right. I was trapped in a net and she helped me instead of hurting me. I am grateful to her. ” Zayra muttered without any interest.
Alpha Tyrion held my arm and gave me a light squeeze because he knew she attacked me rather than I helping her according to her side of story. The other elders seemed to be confused too because they might be expecting the real reason and all I could give them was pathetic excuses.
“That’s amazing. The challenge not only tries to know about the courage and power, the couples hold but also tests the humble and kind nature of the Luna. And Luna Celine not only brought so many shifters she was able to bring a were lioness. ” Beta Remy said, smiling, ” She wins the highest points with her mate which gives them an upper hand on the next challenges. Congratulations. ”
I smiled proudly and Alpha Tyrion could finally smile too. Ava was the last to come with a small bunny which was held by Alpha Kristian and her face burned with jealousy when she realized what was happening there. Without waiting anymore, she left the place, followed by Alpha Kristian.
“Very well, Celine. I am so happy that you did it. ” Lycan king Calle rubbed my arm and kissed the back of my hand which didn’t go well with Alpha Tyrion.
I immediately tried to calm the situation down and instead smiled at Zayra who bowed her head before leaving with her fellow shifters.
“Everyone can get more rest now. ” Beta Remy announced and the couples departed to their respective chambers. Only 7 couples had managed to win the task and Ava was included too given she came at the last minute.
I could feel that Alpha Tyrion was waiting behind my back to talk about what had happened after Zyara dragged me to the woods. But I wasn’t ready to discuss that yet.
“I am tired. I am going to my chamber. ” I told him.
“Alright. Get some sleep later But we need to talk about it first. ” He said, giving my a kiss on my forehead.
I was exhausted after the competition. It had been a long and grueling day, full of challenges and surprises. I had faced some of the strongest and most cunning opponents in the realm, and I had managed to survive and advance to the next round. I was proud of myself, but also drained of energy and in need of rest.
‘We fought the lioness and won over her, Celine! ‘ Belinay said, proud of herself.
‘Yes, all thanks to you. ‘
I entered my chamber, hoping to find some peace and quiet. I closed the door behind me and leaned against it, letting out a sigh of relief. I looked around the room, expecting to see the familiar furnishings and decorations that made me feel a little safe here. But something was off. There was a maid in my chamber, and I didn’t recognize her.
She was standing by the window, holding a tray with a pitcher and a glass. She had dark hair and pale skin, and she wore a simple dress and apron. She looked harmless enough, but there was something in her eyes that made me uneasy. She didn’t seem to notice me at first, but when she did, she smiled and bowed slightly.
“Good evening, Luna. I brought you some water. You must be thirsty after the competition.” She said in a sweet voice.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
I frowned. I didn’t ask for any water, and I didn’t know who sent her. I sensed something was wrong, and I felt a surge of adrenaline in my veins. I reached for my dagger, which I always kept hidden under my armour and prepared to defend myself.
“Who are you? And who sent you?” I asked, trying to sound calm and confident.
The maid’s smile faded, and she dropped the tray. The pitcher and the glass shattered on the floor, spilling water and shards of glass. She reached for something under her apron, and I saw a flash of metal. She had a knife, and she was coming at me.
I dodged her attack, and slashed at her with my dagger. She was fast, but I was faster. I cut her arm, and she cried out in pain. She tried to stab me again, but I blocked her with my arm. I felt a sharp pain in my forearm, but I ignored it. I kicked her in the stomach, and she fell back. I lunged at her, ready to finish her off. She was cunning enough to throw a blanket at me, blocking my vision. I could hear her growls now and knew she was about to attack me.
But before she could, the door burst open, and someone else entered the room. It was Alpha Tyrion. I got rid of the blanket and looked at him. He looked furious, and his eyes glowed with a golden light. He saw the rogue wolf on the floor, and he roared with anger. He shifted into his wolf form, a massive beast with black fur and powerful jaws. He pounced on the rogue, and tore her throat out. She didn’t stand a chance. She was dead in seconds.
I watched in horror, as blood splattered on the walls and the floor. I felt sick, and I dropped my dagger. I backed away from the scene, and stumbled on the broken glass. I fell to the floor, and felt a sharp pain in my foot. I looked down, and saw a piece of glass embedded in my heel. I gasped, and tears filled my eyes.
Alpha Tyrion shifted back to his human form, and ran to me. He knelt down beside me, and wrapped his arms around me. He kissed my forehead, and whispered in my ear.
“Are you okay, my love? Are you hurt?” He asked, his voice full of concern.
I shook my head, and tried to smile. I was in shock, and I couldn’t speak. I didn’t know what to say. I didn’t know what had just happened. I didn’t know who the maid was, or why she tried to kill me. I didn’t know if there were more of them, or who was behind this. I didn’t know anything.
I only knew one thing. I was glad he was here. I was glad he saved me. I was glad he was my mate.
I hugged him back, and buried my face in his chest. I felt his heartbeat, and his warmth. I felt his love, and his protection. I felt safe, and I felt alive.
I closed my eyes, and let him hold me. I didn’t want to let go. I didn’t want to face the reality. I just wanted to stay with him, and forget everything else.
I just wanted to be with him.
