Alpha Knight’s Cursed Mate

44

NIRVANA “So, I’m going home with this death trap again?”

“You’re safe with me, Nirvana.” He kissed me on the lips before helping me put on my helmet. “I promise.”

“You’re lucky I trust you.”

“Yes, I know I am the luckiest. I have a beautiful woman riding with me.” He turned on the engine, and his Ducati purred like a kitten.

“See you later, guys.” I climbed on his bike and waved at Kailin and her father.

“You both take care,” Lennox said. “The boys will follow you behind.”

Knight pulled out the gate instead of going towards the road where we came from his home earlier.

“Aren’t we supposed to be going to the vineyards?”

“I’m taking you on a joyride. It’s a fine night, sweetheart. There’s a good burrito stand not far from here.”

“And I’m supposed to be your biker’s girl?”

The word biker’s girl made him laugh. “Would you be my girl?”

“Whatever, alpha.” I tightened my arms around his abdomen. I knew he would never intentionally put my life in danger.

The night was beautiful, and it was just the two of us in the middle of the road, having fun.

“You can remove your helmet and feel the breeze against your face, Nirvana.”

“You do this often?”

“I know what you’re thinking. To answer your question, no. I don’t let someone ride on my bike.”

“So your bike is your baby, huh?”

“No, but if I let someone ride with me, it gives them a different meaning when all I want is just sex. Nothing more.”

I took a leap and took off the helmet. I sucked a breath as I felt the wind against my face, my hair flying freely. “It’s levitating.”

“Live a little, Nirvana. Stand up.”

“Are you crazy?” I widened my eyes and stared at him, even though he could not see my reaction.

Then he looked at me through the mirror. “Come on, sweetheart. I won’t let anything happen to you.”Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.

My heart pumped so frantically hard. I felt the adrenaline rush as I took the courage to stand up. I gripped his shoulder, feeling like I was flying. It was thrilling, even if it was dangerous.

I raised my helmet and screamed, “Here’s to me taking the risk!”

“Good girl,” he said in amusement.

I sat back and put my helmet on. “Knight Blackwell, You’re a bad influence, but it was fun.”

“Glad you’re having fun.”

“Glad I took your challenge. Thank you, alpha.”

“Anytime for my girl.”

But our fun ended there. Abruptly.

“Who are these guys, Knight?” My pulse raced as Knight slowed down his bike when three Harleys and a Ford truck parked in the middle of the road.

“Stay calm. Your heartbeat is racing. Don’t vanish, Nirvana.” Knight halted his bike a few meters away from the gangs. “That’s Cadogan’s son, Travis, in the center and his men.”

“What do they want?”

“Let’s find out.”

“You should not have come to the nightclub and threatened my father, Blackwell. You know it won’t end well for you!”

“Let us pass, Travis so that this night won’t end horribly,” he said calmly.

“Says the guy who’s alone and his chick.”

Chick? I inwardly groaned.

“We can just turn around, Knight. We don’t have to deal with them.”

“They’re armed, Nirvana. They will shoot at us as soon as we make a U-turn.”

“They’re about seven. I don’t think we can go home alive. What does he want?” Dread crawled under my skin. I gripped his shoulders tighter when my hands shook.

“What do you want, Travis?” His expression seemed under his control while I was horror-stricken.

“I’m glad you asked. I want you to give us the chick, then go home and bring five million dollars in cash. I’m sure you can provide that amount in one hour, or I will send her fingers one by one every ten minutes you’re late,” he confidently said, thinking he would be five million dollars rich tonight with Knight’s money.

I was quickly on a short fuse. Travis was a son of a bitch. He thought he could rule the world and take whatever he wanted.

Even if I wanted to go with them so this night could end peacefully and let Knight bring the amount he asked, I knew he would not trust these assholes with my life.

“That’s not gonna happen,” Knight growled, his body vibrating angrily. His knuckles turned white as he tightly gripped the handles of his bike.

“Then you’re both dead,” Travis said confidently with a smirk. His men laughed, and the two men on his sides shared a high-five.

“Take me instead. She will talk to my accountant to bring your money.”

“I want her because I know you will do everything to get her back, and if you do some stupid antics, I will slit her throat. Do you fucking understand me?”

I linked Knight. “You should call a backup.”

“I already did. Stay on my back. Hold tight, sweetheart. I’m so sorry this is happening.”

“What are you planning, Knight?”

“I can’t, and I won’t risk you.”

I groaned, annoyed that he didn’t want to share his plan with me. “You’re not doing whatever I think you’re about to do, Knight. You’re not invincible. You can’t possibly dodge those bullets.”

“You have ten seconds, Blackwell, or we start shooting.”

“Then you will not get your money!” he screamed at Travis.

“It doesn’t matter as long as we get rid of you for good, motherfucker!” Then he started counting, “Five, four, three, you’re stalling.”

I gasped when he signaled his man. Handguns pointed at us.

“You think your little goons are coming to save your asses,” Travis added.

My chest heaved. My pulse accelerated.

“Okay! I’m coming with you.” I got off the bike and raised my hands. “Don’t shoot him!”

“What the fuck are you doing?” Knight was pissed off. He did a feral growl from within his chest.

“Saving both our lives and our pack are on their way.”

“Get back, Nirvana. This is not the time of heroism. I’m supposed to protect you.” He was seriously pissed off. I thought he was going to explode. “Get on the bike, now!

I was startled when he used his alpha tone on me. I swallowed hard and defied him again. “I can’t. I’m sorry. Just trust me on this, okay?”

“Fuck, Nirvana. You don’t know what you’re doing. You don’t know these people than I do.”

“I think I have a pretty good idea what kind of people we’re dealing with. Please, just go and bring the money.” When my chin trembled, I bit my lip.

He gripped my wrist harder. His eyes began to glow. I knew his wolf was pissed off, and he was losing his control. “I’m not leaving you to those animals. I’d rather die than have their hands all over you.”

“Don’t shift. You can’t show them who you are and shoot you instead. Let me go. Please?” I twisted my wrist around his grip even if it felt like bruising my skin, crashing my bones.

“Walk towards us, woman. I’m done waiting!” Travis grunted impatiently. “My patience is running thin.”

“Just me go, Knight! This is my decision!” I jerked off my arm, and it freed from his grip. It must have hurt his wolf and his feelings, and I just defied my own alpha. “I’m sorry.”

“Don’t do this.” He looked at me with such burning anger.

“You’re done!”

“Wait. Don’t shoot.” I marched in their direction. “Just put your guns down. You’re scaring me.”

“Nirvana! Don’t fucking defy me!” Knight roared, so angry, almost unstable, and I heard his boots thudding on the ground. “This rebelliousness doesn’t work on me, Nirvana!”

“Stop!”

“Shoot her if he takes another step,” Travis ordered his man, and I halted.

“We have an agreement, Travis. I’m going with you, and you let him go to get your money.”

“All right. I’ll give you your money. Just don’t fucking touch her!” Knight sounded devastated and helpless.

“Just do as I say, Blackwell. I’ll call about the drop-off.”

“Asina, if you are there. Now it’s the time, and I badly need you,” I said under my breath, breathing in and out.

My chest rose and fell in fear, and I was three yards away from these assholes, and nothing was happening.

I groaned as I couldn’t focus. All I could hear was the thrashing of my pulse in my ears as dread consumed me.

“Don’t shoot her. I need that money,” ordered Travis.

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes as one of Travis’ men marched forward to grab me.

“Damn it, Asina. Now. I accept you.”

All of a sudden, I felt a tingle at the back of my neck. I froze. My surroundings turned dead silent. Then a roar rumbled, my skin fizzled, and it began shaking around me until a strong force struck me like something powerful slammed hard against my chest and radiated in such destructive intensity that it made me fall on my knees.

“What the fuck is happening?” Travis asked.

I squeezed my eyes shut. My heart throbbed like I’d been sprinting a flight of stairs. Each thrash sent a wave of power surging over me, and I felt like my chest would explode. My muscles clenched. My knees gave up as if I was carrying tons of weight.

“What’s wrong with her?” the man who walked to take me asked.

“I accept you, Asina. I can do it. I’m stronger,” I said through gritted teeth, determined to take and channel whatever was inside me.

“Hey. Who are you talking to, weirdo?” the same man asked.

Rather than panic and extreme fear, a wave of calmness swept over me. I felt stronger than I’d ever felt before, which snapped me out. I opened my eyes and felt like I had laser vision-my eyes were glowing.

“Take her, and let’s get out of here.” Those were the last words I heard from Travis as the anger inside me felt like a nuclear bomb about to detonate. I was so pissed I didn’t even know where to start.

Suddenly, they seemed to move slowly, or I was too fast. I grabbed the gun from the man before me and threw it away. Then I went to Travis, grabbed him on his shirt, and hurled him against the man beside him. They fell against the Harley on the ground like dominos.

I wasn’t sure what I could do, but I went with my guts. I drew a deep breath, formed a fist, and punched the hood of the truck. The impact sent the back flying. It looked like a wrecking ball had just dropped on top of it.

For a second, it terrified me watching the aftermath- the truck was completely destroyed.

“You shouldn’t have called me a chick,” I said before I turned around and ran back to Knight, who was still pissed off and glaring, standing still.

Then there was a slight problem. I didn’t know how to put Asina back into sleeping mode.

“Please, let this work.” I breathed deeply. I could still feel the surge of energy in my veins, tingling everywhere.

Before they could realize what happened, I wanted us to be far away from this area. At least, I slowed them down.

“Let’s go.”

Knight blinked rapidly as he stared in shock at the aftermath. “What the fuck!”

“Drive, alpha. Now.” I climbed behind him.

“Nirvana.” He gritted his teeth as he sped away.

“I know. I’ll pay for it later. Let’s get the hell out of here and tell the guys not to come over here.”
